It's v18 now, which is better...

V17 had No exit fee, v18 has £30 for EACH fuel so arguably not necessarily better .
I got the that email on this monday Jan 18th, was it really set up and removed in two days? but no update by email?

True. Better was not the right term to use. Lower rates was more appropriate.
As someone who regularly switches, the exit fee on v18 puts me off, even though my monthly cost would go down if I leave the fixed tariff I'm on with another supplier, which has no exit fee.
v17 was only announced on Jan 12, v18 on Jan 20, so they did move pretty fast.

I would probably have stayed with Eon had V18 been their initial proposal as a new tariff. Instead we had V16(25% higher!) and then V17(several percent higher and with at least 6 competitors cheaper)) and only now, presumably after mass switching, have Eon offered a realistic tariff. It reeks of greed and complacency.
I don't really follow that logic, given that all those who went for V16 or 17 can now switch to V18 in 1 minute flat, as many of us have already done. If anything, it's poor marketing strategy as some people will have switched to a different supplier and won't now come back.

I never thought I'd switch electricity tariff twice in the the space of a week, but here I am. OK, so it's postdated to the end of Feb so it doesn't really count. It took literally 1 minute to switch via the website.

For me, the E7 night unit prices of v15 are still cheaper, but the day prices of v18 are lower. So I'm still switching at the end of February to take advantage of the lower heating costs this winter.

Thanks Malc for your helpful replies. I'm also impressed how clear the wording is on the website. It's quite clear than the £30 penalty only applies "if you leave EON", so if you launch v19 next week, no worries!

Glad to help jrawle. Also pleased the tariff switch went so smoothly and that you find our website clear. As you say, you can move between E.ON tariffs whenever you wish without picking up exit fees. No end date for version 18 yet but will let you know once I'm told although this sort of change usually appears on our website first. Also, if you've opted in to Price Alerts and as this is a Fixed Price tariff, we'll email you if a new version of the product becomes available.

Hope this helps and thanks for the kind words, too, jrawle.

v18 is also right up near the top of cheaper suppliers on uSwitch for me too, which is nice to see. Those above it are of dubious reputation too, so all looks good. Roll on an even cheaper v19! :)

E.On reps on here, particularly Malc, have always been helpful, which is yet another reason to stick with them.

Thanks for the kind words victor. They're really appreciated. :)

Sorry you're unhappy with how we've handled the recent product launches and offers jrio. I'll gladly feed this back to those looking after the marketing side. Sorry, too, to lose you but can understand your frustration.

I'm confused, I got an email the other day see below.
But when I log in now or do a "let us find you our best rate" , there is no listing of this E.ON Energy Fixed 1 Year v17 so I cannot check the details nor switch to this rate if I wanted to?

    Hi Patr100

Sorry for the confusion. The email you've received is a Price Alert. These go out to customers on Fixed Price tariffs who've signed up for this online service. They're to let you know a new version is available.

These emails have been going out in batches over recent weeks to let customers know version 17 was available. That tariff has since been superseded by version 18. Don't worry, you definitely haven't missed out. For all eligible customers in all regions and for all usage, version 18 is universally cheaper than version 17. The only down side to version 18 compared to 17 is the £30 per fuel exit fee. This only applies, though, if changing supplier before the renewal window (open 49 calendar days before the tariff ends until 20 days after). There's no charge for moving between different E.ON tariffs.

There'll be another email hitting inboxes soon about version 18.

Sorry again for the confusion Patr100 but hope this explains.

Ok, the increased exit fee was not helpful but I've just switched to EOn v18 for electricity only, as was tempted by So Energy's offer as the cheapest for me , according to most comparisons I did. But they are relatively new and unknown and for me the V18 does now beat them for unit price and standing charge anyway.

    Morning All.

As promised, just to let you know, I've been told this morning that our Fixed 1 Year version 18 Tariff has now ended. It's been replaced by version 19. Full details are on our website. Again, I don't have an end date for version 19 as of yet.

For all those on our Fixed Tariffs and who've signed up, Price Alert emails will be going out over the next few days to let you know about the new tariff.

    Hope this is of interest.
