    Morning All

As promised, just letting you know that our Fixed 1 Year version 19 tariff ends at midnight tonight (4 February 16). It's being replaced with version 20. Details of the new tariff will be on our website and the independent comparison sites after this time.

Customers currently on our fixed term tariffs who have signed up for Price Alerts will receive an email letting them know all about the new tariff.

    Hope this helps.

Quick update all. Things have changed and we've extended the end date for our Fixed 1 Year version 19 tariff until Monday, 8 February 16.

The new version 20 tariff will be available from Tuesday, 9 February 16. Details will be available on our website and the independent comparison sites at this time.

Customers currently on our fixed term tariffs who have signed up for Price Alerts will receive an email letting them know all about the new tariff.

I'll update the other threads where I promised to let customers know about the end of version 19 too. Sorry for the confusion.

I see v20 is now there. Same standing charge, increased kWh rates for both gas and electricity but no exit fee.
For the account I look after it would mean a 36% increase in cost. That would more than cover the v19 exit fee after a couple of months, so I'll leave them where they are.

I bet after looking at v20's massive increase (25% for me in the South West!) you're glad you did this!

What happens if someone switches from v19 (which has an exit fee) to v20 (which doesn't have an exit fee) and then next week switches away from E.ON altogether?

Nice idea. I would guess neither switch would incur an exit fee. But if you're already on v19, you're on a pretty good tariff anyway.

  • V19 was unusually competitive. E.ON customer support told me that v19 included the 5% gas price reduction they announced on 1 Feb, so v19 can only have been on sale for just over a week.

I have noticed in previous years that E.ON occasionally publish competitive tariffs that are only on sale for a couple of weeks -- I'm talking about public tariffs, not community ones. Looks like v19 may have been one of these.

E.ON customer support also told me that you could change E.ON tariffs as often as you like without incurring exit fees from those tariffs that carry them. I think @phillw's idea above sounds like a most appropriate response to the v20 price hike provided you are on an earlier, less competitive tariff. But watch it -- maybe E.ON will cotton on and re-introduce exit fees as well as the price hike next week...

I presume you would pay the extra costs for v20 for the short period until you leave them without exit fees.

But have you found a better deal than v19 which for me with the exception of the exit fee, is the best deal around at the moment.

I can not understand what are the motives. behind the E-on v20 prices as stated on this and other threads the v20 has resulted in price increases , me included for most E-on customers.
