Hmm, the prices for V18 and V19 (E7 electricity, Southern) are identical for me. Any idea why this was introduced? Was there an error on the tariff for certain regions of the country, or are the new savings only for gas?

    Hi jrawle

It's the gas that's changed. The electricity unit prices and standing charges on version 19 of our Fixed Price 1 Year tariff match version 18. Unit prices for gas are, though, a bit cheaper. Standing charges are the same.

    Hope this explains.

  • I was on the V14 tariff, due to expire 29th January, and switched a couple of weeks ago to the V17 tariff, as that was offered to me as the best deal. I never received any alerts for that or for the V18. However, today I received an alert for V19 - 2 days before my V14 ended and my V17 was due to start.

I see the V19 has a £30 exit fee, but is £100 pa cheaper than V17. If V20 is announced in a couple of weeks, will I be able to switch to that without incurring an exit fee?
  • This is getting ridiculous. I've switched E.On tariffs 3 times in just over 2 weeks. Will I make it into February without switching again?. Can E.On's IT systems keep up ?

If you switch within E.On, there's no exit fee - it only applies if you leave them for another supplier.

Hi rfsmith and sorry about the confusion with our tariffs and Price Alerts.

Alerts go out in batches approximately 10 days after a new version is released. With the recent tariff launches being so close together it has thrown things out. Completely understand, this isn't particularly helpful and it's something I've raised with those here who control these things.

At the time it was released, our Fixed Price 1 Year version 17 was the cheapest tariff we had. This has since been superseded by versions 18 and 19. As victor says, there's no exit fee for changing from one E.ON product to another. If a better tariff becomes available, you'll be able to switch to this without picking up an exit fee.

Sorry again for the confusion and hope this explains a bit.

Sorry about any confusion caused with our recent tariff releases BeansOnToast. As above in my reply to rfsmith, I've been asking questions about how we can improve the way we handle such things in the future.

I'm sure our website will be okay. This and the independent comparison sites is where any new products appear first.

One way Eon could have improved would be to have released a new fixed tariff earlier . I've already initiated move as I was told I would need to 4-6weeks to change suppliers and Eon hadnt brought out a new tariff just warned me of moving onto variable at quite a hike, so I acted in plenty of time.
Secondly last year Eon made an easily accessible table of actual unit costs so one could work out costs oneself, which I always use and much prefer to websites working it out for me. Yes, it varies for different postcodes but that can still be put in a table as it was previously.
I have to go to the CheapEnergyClub website to get the actual unit figures for most sites as they hide them away or just dont make them readily available.
Anyway, the provider I am moving to made the unit prices clear so that already made me want to go with them! That and the fact the prices were indeed cheaper than Eon (Eon have now matched this price with v19 but too late for me).

Eon were absolutely fine, but those are the improvements I would like.

Glad it can save a bit for your friend victor and that you've switched them okay. As before, I'll update this thread when I know an end date for version 19.

If you've registered them for Price Alerts, they'll be receiving an email about both versions 18 and 19. Sorry if this causes any confusion.

    Hi beardiedog

I don't have an end date for our Fixed 1 Year version 19 tariff yet. As above, I'll update this thread as soon as I do although it'll be on our website first. If you've signed up to our Price Alerts service, you'll also receive an email letting you know about version 19. If any future versions are released, we'll email you about these too.

There are no exit fees for switching between different E.ON tariffs so, if they're any good, you can go from 18 to 19 and then to any future tariffs without picking up a fee.

    Hope this helps beardiedog.

    Morning All

As promised, just letting you know that our Fixed 1 Year version 19 tariff ends at midnight tonight (4 February 16). It's being replaced with version 20. Details of the new tariff will be on our website and the independent comparison sites after this time.

Customers currently on our fixed term tariffs who have signed up for Price Alerts will receive an email letting them know all about the new tariff.

    Hope this helps.

Well, v18 lasted 2 days, so for v19 to last 2 weeks is pretty good! :)
I suppose it's a sign of the falling market, so we can't complain too much, assuming v20 will be cheaper (on gas presumably) of course.
Just as well switching within E.On is painless, might have to do it for a fourth time this year, and it's only February! ;)

its quite simple, to get people to switch, as it earns the comparison sites money and it also gets new customers for Eon

personally I found it a bit silly to release what was it again? 2 or 3 tariffs within days of each other

and wait for it ANOTHER on the 4th of feb !! I guess they must be desperate for new customers after the latest scandal about age uk
