Fraudulant activity on my bank account

            Hi
Ive just been reading the latest posts and I bank with R.B.of Scotland. I had money out to Travelex Camberley and Peterborough, for mobile phone top ups and two mortgage payments which Im sure they will be able to chase!! All my transactions were done whilst I was away on holiday and I had booked my holiday and parking via the internet!!! and regularly use Tesco which seems to be a common factor as well. (my flights were not with BA though they were with Thomsonfly).
Police or bank have not been in further contact although I have had money refunded.

The fraud on my account was the day after I booked next years holiday with Thomson online, you can be sure I will be paying the balance by cheque. I too have been refunded but the bank refuse to give me any information whatsoever.

Just to update. My £411 has been credited back into my account last week. I eventually received my replacement debit card on saturday. The first one they sent out had to be cancelled as it got lost in the post! Very wary about using my card now but we live in a modern world and I can't see a viable alternative.0

Hi, I have also had some money stolen from my current account.
It showed up on my Internet Banking with Lloyds as TRVL MONEY CAMBERLEY - A debit of £ 327.99 - After I've had a few days to calm down from this stressful experience, I decided to google the phrase 'TRVL MONEY CAMBERLEY' and I found this site.
I had only had this debit card for less than a year, it was my first one.
Being only 17 years old, it was a huge shock to me when I had realised the large amount of money missing from my account. To me, it's a hell of a lot of money.
The transaction was made on the 21st of August (a few days ago).
And I found out about it on the 23rd (Thank God for Internet Banking)...
So luckily for me I was able to get the card blocked before they were able to spend any more... And now it's up to the fraud dept to sort it out, they're sending me the forms within the next 5-7 days, along with a new card from the bank, with a new number, etc. I'm also getting the money reimbursed, which is a major relief for me!
I'm glad that I checked my account on the 23rd, if not for that I may have had an even nastier surprise at a later date...
Another interesting fact is that I had just got back from holiday with my family a few days prior to the 23rd. Which is also why I wonder if the person who stole my card details somehow knew that I was on holiday and hoped that I wouldn't have noticed for a while or something. It really does make me wonder... But hopefully since I alerted the bank & fraud dept so quickly, they'll have a higher chance of catching the person who did it. I also got my parents to agree to pressing charges if the person is ever caught. So I really do hope they are found. Although I understand that it's very unlikely... And to be honest, I'm just glad that I am soon getting the money back. That's all I really want. Then I can get on with my life and forget about this whole thing...
I must say that I never expected anything like this to happen to me, especially at my age! I'm just glad that I found this site, it's helpful knowing that I'm not the only one who's had this happen to them.
I sincerely hope you all get your money back soon!
Exactly the same here. " TRVL MONEY CAMBERLE " Started just before I went on Holiday.
You didnt use APH or Thomson did you ?0

            Hi everyone,
I have read these posts with interest, but also with dismay that the banks take very little interest in their customers shock and horror at what has happened to them.
I too have discovered today that my account was debited by £1455 to TRVL Money Camberley. I have been to my local branch of Nationwide to fill out the necessary fraud transaction form and cancelled my card. However, they could not give me any info beyond that, which is nil.
The only online transaction I made a couple of days previous was via PAYPAL which is supposed to be a secure way of making online payments. Now i'm beginning to wonder.
With todays technology and secure websites it's quite worrying that these people find it so easy to commit this kind of fraud.
Obviously the police and banks can't tell what they find out because if they did there would be a lot of broken legs and shattered kneecaps!!

I have just returned from holiday and checked my bank account knowing I have a lot of bills to pay at the end of the month. Shock and horror someone has helped themselves to our account. Over £1000 gone to Travel money Camberly 2 transactions, 4 mobile phone top ups at various networks and a new Orange phone. I contacted the fraud dept. who calmly told me they will stop our cards, and send us the forms to fill in and we will then be reimbursed.
This morning we went to our local bank of Lloyds TSB and also reported to them what had happened. When I found this forum I can not believe that my case is so similar to others in the past. Surely this company Travel Money have been questioned and need to tighten their proceedures. Surley buying a mobile phone is traceable to those investigating.
My card has not been stolen and my security number only given over the phone to Lloyds TSB recently when my card was mysteriously stopped for "A random fraud check" on the 6th Sept. (The first fraud appreared on the 11th.) I have only used my debit card within the last month at the local bank, supermarket, and petrol stations all in Yorkshire. We are very careful and shred all documents and our cards are never out of our sight whilst being used. No internet purchases of late, nothing we can think of where anyone could have got our info.
 We await the outcome.0

Good old TRVL Money Camberley, funny how they do it while people are on Holiday.
I only use mine for APH car parks, and Thomson. All other purchases are done with my credit card and fuel with company credit card. Did any of you guys use a debit card to pay for a holiday or car park to avoid the 2% CC charge ?
Just seen someone above booked with thomsonfly !!! I think travelmoney camberely is Tesco. I did try and use them once for money but was stopped saying only £200 a day in cash was allowed to be drawn. Funny how they have got £305 and £498 from me in 2 days.0

just logged onto my account this morning - £1000 gone to travel money chamberley and 2 £30 phone top ups. after that the first thing the bank asked me about was a £142 transaction to stagecoach (which i did actually make) so they obivously have a few cases of fraud there as it wasn't my biggest transaction. I wasn't on holiday although i have just moved into student accommodation so it's going to be a real pain getting all the forms - the banks seem very relaxed about it all so at least i know i'll get the money back. always thought i was careful about using my card but i guess not careful enough...2008: £783.12 - 2009: £6,401.15 - 2010: £4,230.61 - 2011: £8720 - 2012: £2,041.89
 2013: £134.960

just checked my account, have had £1453.92 taken from my account by Cash TRVL Money Camberley CAMBERLEY.
i have just a week ago booked a holiday with Explorers of Camberley
and the day before the money was taken booked leg room seats with thompson fly.
i also use tesco and paypal. but never give out or show my pin and am very carefull with my card.
just been on to nationwide who have stopped my card (great help as i go
on holiday sunday morning (day after tommorow)
i can see from all the other threads that neither the banks or police are bothered by this
so i would like to put forward an idea.
if anybody out there is interested in going down to this "Cash TRVL Money Camberley CAMBERLEY." and having a serious word with them please email me on "deanofire@ntlworld.com"
it is plain to see that someone in the shop is accepting fake card details without the proper id so i think we should visit them.
i am away for a week so please email me and we will sort this when i return.

            Hi,
Last year, just before Xmas, I got a phone message from my Nationwide Fraud Department - which was confusing, as my card was still in my purse.
The short story is that someone had tried to spend £300 in Superdrug using my card details, fortunately there were insufficient funds in the account for the transaction to process, and Nationwide got suspicious and stopped my card immediately, so no smaller transactions slipped through the net.
Like you all, I couldn't get any information, I don't know if they ever sorted it, but my concern also was using the same place online or instore, and it happening again.
Now I am rambling a bit, but I notice quite a few of you comment that the fraud started happening and mention recent shops you'd done - I was told by the nice Mr Policeman that came to see me, that quite often a card is skimmed, and they might hang on to it for ages, as in many months, having stocked up on a few - so don't assume that its because of something you did recently.
Then they "ping" the card, to make sure its still active, which was done with mine, and then try and spend the money a little while later when they know its still a live card.
Its a minefield, you don't want to use your card, but in this day and age, you have to.
I still buy on-line, and use my card in shops - I try not to use over the phone, and I never ever fill in postal payment forms - at least on line is encrypted - but the upshot of it, is, like with cars and so on, if the thieves are determined enough they gonna get you anyway,
You probably already know, but those wireless card/pin things that they bring to your table in restaurants, apparently they are the easiest thing to hack into with very simple equipment - so don't use one! They need to look at card security again, chip and pin isn't much good because the pin is stored locally on the card - hence why they're so easy to skim.0
