Our latest on this front is that after cancelling our cards, the bank sent out 2 new pins followed by a set of cards. I phoned up to activate it and all went as it should, I then tried to use the card to get a printed balance and it retained the card. Phoned up A&L to ask !!!!!! was going on and was eventually told that they had sent me out 2 sets of cards, 1 as a normal replacement and 1 as a result of the fraud. Strange as our old cards didn't expire until the end of next year!

We received our second set of cards the next day and they seem to be working.

Really annoyed with this as they could have told me when I tried to activate the first card to save me the embarressment if I'd tried to use it in a shop. I should have guessed there was something amiss as the company that did activations didn't try to sell me fraud insurance the first time. :(

  • I haven't received any further corrospondance from my bank as yet, but, when I checked with telephone banking this morning the full amount of fraudulant amounts has been credited back into my account, so I am rather pleased and relieved this morning.

I sincerely hope all of you who have had the same happen get your money back too.

  • Hi,

I've had two amounts taken out by this company... why is it still happening?
    First amount = £307.65 + £4.50
    Second amount = £650 + £4.50 (1 day later)

My bank is Lloydstsb (not for much longer), and I'm a little annoyed that they did a check in the shop for an amount of £12.99, but then they let through the inital ammount without asking me... £13 vs £350, which is the more likely to be incorrect? Idiots! It does make me wonder if the fraudsters know more about me other than my card details...

I too, like The.Real.Me was about to go on holiday when the first amount went out... so maybe it was my direct over the internet flight booking with BA that was the problem?

The only other places that I have used this card (other than Tesco etc) are as follows...
    Discz - Waterlooville
    Moonpig - online card company
    Cycle World - Portsmouth
Headphoneworld.com - who are also ipodworld and many others...

So does this tie up with anyone else?

I got my money back into my account for today, which isn't too much help being that I'm on holiday without a card that works...

    Cheers,

    M
  • Another Victim!!

Just adding that I've just noticed this tonight whilst using online banking. Immediately got my card cancelled. Lloyds told me I will need to contact fraud department tomorrow.... the lady on the phone said should be no problems getting money back as she has seen this recently with other callers.

  • Clicked on this new post to read as my hubby has also had TRAVEL MONEY come out of his bank account just last week. Why are the banks not more helpful with sorting out temporary overdrafts etc until its all sorted? If I had not been able to move money to hubby,s account to cover bills this month we would be in serious trouble because of this TRAVEL MONEY theft.
We are also with LLOYDS TSB and I have noticed many people mention that they are also with the same bank.Is everyone affected by this with LLOYDS TSB?

  • Hi folks

i too have had travel money £411 taken out my lloyds tsb account. totally skint until they sort it out! what annoys me more is that they couldn't give me a decent explanation for this. i consider myself to be quite careful and i would really like to know what has happened so as i can protect myself agains it in the future.
