Fraudulant activity on my bank account

Amazing, I had a letter this morning from a company that I tried to use on the morning I discovered the theft from my account, this was before I knew there was a problem and also before the £505 was spent at comet clearance.
Basically the company wrote to me to say they could not supply the goods (less than £10 worth) as my bank had refused to process my card as there was a problem. One hour AFTER I (tried to) make this transaction, someone spent £505 with Comet Clearance.
I am more than a little !!!!ed that someone could spend over £500 an hour after I was refused for less than a tenner.

Hi, £1600.43 was taken out of my account on the 20th, travel money camberly. i googled it and found this site. i went into my branch when i realised and filled out the forms and made them fax them to the fraud department. as it was pending they said i had to wait but if you cause enough fuss they'll do it. i contacted the police as well and will be calling travelex when i finish typing this. it probably wont help but at least i'll feel like i'm doing something. What concerns me is that lastminute.com tried to take £1000 two days before but refunded it the next day. I have an account with them so they should have contacted me, then i could of cancelled my card in time. ok, rant over.

Hi
I have just reported mine to the police- the vcheeky so and sos have paid two mortgages with my card!!!!
I still have my card and it is never out of my sight and always watch when I hand it over in shops so its not swiped elsewhere but this was all done on the internet so someone has got my number from there.
The bank say I will get my money back but it takes time to investigate!!!0 -
I had £3000 fraudulently taken from my current account. Most of that amount was used to purchase Orange mobile £50 top ups.
My debit card was never used for any purchases/services - except for cash withdrawal from ATMs. All banking documents are carefully shredded before disposal.
How did they do it??
Possible options: ATM has been tampered with, intercepted mail or crooked insiders.0 -
Yes to all three of your suggestions plus software available on the internet which will generate card numbers for you. They will try each combination thrown up until they find one that works!0

It is currently with the Nationwide fruad department.0 -
I feel so sorry for everyone who's had this happen to them. the bank says it will take 7 - 10 days to sort out but i've had to transfer funds from other accounts to cover DD'S. It's so frustrating. Hopefully someone will catch the little ****'s!0

I noticed on wednesday £1600.43 was pending on my account and reported it but i was told nothing could be done all the while it was pending and that it was probably just a glitch in the system that would clear. Today £1600.43 came out under the name Travel Money Pterborough. I have report it to the bank and its under investigation but it will be up to 10 days before i get a refund and in the mean time i'm without cards or money. The police say that don't deal with it anymore its the banks responsiblility to give a full refund as they have in effect lost my money. The banks then take it up with the police if prosecution is required.0

Hi, I have also had some money stolen from my current account.
It showed up on my Internet Banking with Lloyds as TRVL MONEY CAMBERLEY - A debit of £ 327.99 - After I've had a few days to calm down from this stressful experience, I decided to google the phrase 'TRVL MONEY CAMBERLEY' and I found this site.
I had only had this debit card for less than a year, it was my first one.
Being only 17 years old, it was a huge shock to me when I had realised the large amount of money missing from my account. To me, it's a hell of a lot of money.
The transaction was made on the 21st of August (a few days ago).
And I found out about it on the 23rd (Thank God for Internet Banking)...
So luckily for me I was able to get the card blocked before they were able to spend any more... And now it's up to the fraud dept to sort it out, they're sending me the forms within the next 5-7 days, along with a new card from the bank, with a new number, etc. I'm also getting the money reimbursed, which is a major relief for me!
I'm glad that I checked my account on the 23rd, if not for that I may have had an even nastier surprise at a later date...
Another interesting fact is that I had just got back from holiday with my family a few days prior to the 23rd. Which is also why I wonder if the person who stole my card details somehow knew that I was on holiday and hoped that I wouldn't have noticed for a while or something. It really does make me wonder... But hopefully since I alerted the bank & fraud dept so quickly, they'll have a higher chance of catching the person who did it. I also got my parents to agree to pressing charges if the person is ever caught. So I really do hope they are found. Although I understand that it's very unlikely... And to be honest, I'm just glad that I am soon getting the money back. That's all I really want. Then I can get on with my life and forget about this whole thing...
I must say that I never expected anything like this to happen to me, especially at my age! I'm just glad that I found this site, it's helpful knowing that I'm not the only one who's had this happen to them.
I sincerely hope you all get your money back soon!0
