I am a bit shocked at grown men being told what they are allowed to do. I wouldn't want to be married to a man who had to get permission to go out with his friends.
I guess a stint with the Vice made me realise that many man do all sorts of things that would shock their partners/friends/families. Personally I prefer the sort of relationship where my husband wouldn't feel the need to hide what he does. I suppose I value honesty more than anything. The problem with things being done in secret is that they are more likely to get out of hand.
That's how I see it too. There are women who proudly spout that "their husband would never look at !!!!!!/go to a strip night" or whatever. I wonder what planet they are on, I suspect their attitude is geared to make their husbands do just that on the quiet.
I once knew a chap whose wife was very prim and proper and had just such an attitude. What she didn't know was that her husband spent much of his time at his desk thumbing through top shelf magazines and that his locker in the basement contained a very comprehensive stash, of which he was rather proud. He was also up for a Gentlemen's Night at every opportunity and had to pretend he was out at the pub with us lot.Despite my opinions on this subject (although I've commented more on !!!!!! that stripping) I've never actually been to a strip club. However I'm going on a stag do at the end of this month and will be going to my first. If I remember I'll revisit this thread and give my opinions on it all.
Go for it. I suspect you may conclude it is all a good, bawdy night out with lots of laughs and mickey taking. Hardly dirty raincoat stuff!:dance:We're gonna be alright, dancin' on a Saturday night:dance:0 -
It's quite likely that this thread is a wind up in reply to

"Quite" likely?
As an aside, the two posters have chosen user-names from different sides of the angelic coin (except that Lucifer himself was - we are told - once an angel).
How unlikely is that? On a board which sometimes seem to thrive on the most unlikely of situations.0 -

I agree - If my OH asked me permission to go to the pub with his pals, I would be wondering where he had left his ballsWith love, POSR0 -
I certainly wouldn't try to forbid a partner going to one, and I can kind of see how someone might get steam rollered into going if it was a lot of blokes out together, but really, I wouldn't want to be with someone who thought that strip clubs are healthy places.
The message they give out is that women are available as objects for men to look at, leer at at and be judgemental about. And that attitude follows through when they are away from the venue. I used to work as the only one of 2 women in an otherwise all male environment. The men were generally callow sexist racist individuals, but Friday afternoons when they came back from seeing strippers in the pub were hell for me.
I've also ended up in a pub a few times when they had strippers in and the majority of the women looked depressed, certainly not enjoying themselves. My only other experience of this was a friend worked the clubs for a few months to raise cash. As a very fit and attractive woman she certainly raised the money she needed, how it affected her long term I do not know as we lost contact. So of course for some women in the trade it is a choice, but if there were other options I don't know how many would be making that choice.
I'm certainly uncomfortable with the idea of male strippers too. Perhaps we live in such an uptight society that some people need these sort of events to let go a bit? I don't know. It's certainly not for me in any way.
