Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

He may not watch it now and for a while but at some point in his life he has experienced !!!!!! of some kind as pretty much the whole male population would have done so and these days so do a lot of women to.
He may also be a very good liar to you and have a vast stash of magazines videos in his secret den/ Then again he may not but I bet you go looking around the house now.0 -

What he did before we got married over forty years ago I have no idea, but I know he doesn't now. Also he would not lie to me. That's not how you get to have a long and happy marriage.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I think it boils down to men prefer visual stimulation, whereas women prefer the written stuff, hence something like 80% of the readers of 50 shades are womenIt's not just about the money0

I don't see how reading about an abusive relationship is erotic it any way at all.
I think many women like reading about romance, rather than sexual !!!!!!. There is nothing (to me anyway) interesting in reading about who did what to whom.
There's the old saying that women need to feel loved in order to enjoy sex and men have to have sex in order to feel loved.(AKA HRH_MUngo)
