  • I would try your old hair dressers again. It's worth a shot isn't it. :)

I know you are right Claireylulu. I shall ring up tomorrow and make an appointment for after payday. At least the bill will be £35 and not £70+

Feeling really sorry for myself folks:o I haven't achieved a single one of my goals today.

I bought a flapjack and a late as I was a bit stressed and needed a break which cost £1.70 meaning that my WW points are out the window. Only had a small glass of water on an employer visit and then got in too late to go out for a walk.

Did check lotto and about to check survey sites. I don't think that my goals are unrealistic but I rarely seem to manage them all. Cant even be faffed to list the £bay items as still need to wash up and have a bath.

Anyone want to join in with my pity party:rotfl:

I do try and remain positive and manage it most of the time but at the moment I am feeling totally overwhelmed with work. It's just so busy and we have more students than ever before.

I am also worried about DS2 as we are constantly giving him money but he should get his first pay on Friday. We need to have stern words about his final year of uni as I cannot cope with another episode of the last 3 months.

Going to wash up and have a bath and I am sure I will feel better about things. Might do some yoga too.

    Found you

    Glad DS2 has a job :j

My view on survey sites~~not unless you really need too as they are very time consuming for very little reward.

  • Positive head back on today. I sat and read lots of DFW diaries last night and I am inspired. I am missing lots of opportunities to make extra income and I am going to spend the bank holiday weekend (I have Fri-Mon off) to hatch a plan.

    Goals for today:
    HEALTH
Take regular breaks away from the computer
Park a distance away from the college and walk in (must take my brolly)
Eat fruit as snacks and avoid the chocolate covered flapjacks today!

    WEALTH
    List 3 items on £bay
Check usual lotto and survey sites
    Have a no spend day

    HAPPINESS
Make progress with my work to do list
Plan something nice (and cheap) to do with OH on Friday
Be thankful that I have an interesting job that I do enjoy.

  • Managed a NSD yesterday:T I also had a lovely dinner of Quorn sausages with fried up leftover new potatoes with tomatoes, mushrooms and a friend egg (all fried in 1 cal spray) it was blooming lovely and filled me up all evening. I do usually get the munchies around 9pm but didnt this time.

Interesting money programme again last night. It was about how spending habits/income can make you happy.I almost launched something at the TV at the woman who refused to wear anything but designer. Watched her purchase a pair of sunglasses for her 15 year old daughter for £190!!!! Whats wrong with the £1 shop??:rotfl:

This sparked a lovely discussion with OH about what matters/does not matter to us. Neither of us are label snobs or particularly interested in keeping up with the Joneses. What we value most is making memories with the people we care about which is usually in the form of holidays, weekend breaks, eating/drinking out. We do need to cut back on the frequency of these but certainly won't stop. We don't have a large house or fancy cars.

No surveys yesterday despite 9 of the same email coming though saying I had one:mad: Didn't manage to list £bay sales but am off from Friday - Monday :j so will do more then. OH is also out tomorrow evening so I will have peace to get on with it (he also won't be hogging the PC).

    Goals for today:

    HEALTH
Park a distance from work again, I was in and out 3 times yesterday so did plenty of walking.
    Eat healthily.
Take regular breaks from the computer

    WEALTH
    Check free lotto and surveys
Buy low cost lunch under £2 (nothing at all in house to make a packed lunch:o)
Fill out mileage claim for August

    HAPPINESS
    Do 4 lots of marking
Check on my Boys tonight by text/Skype
    Plan our long weekend:)

  • I hated that label woman - I thought that she was such a snob and I felt like her and her family were looking down and laughing at the other woman. Ugh. People that know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.

I hated that label woman - I thought that she was such a snob and I felt like her and her family were looking down and laughing at the other woman. Ugh. People that know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.

I felt embarrassed for her and the other woman was trying so hard to save and overpay on her mortgage. I wouldn't be surprised if she is one of our MSEers. I also love a car boot fair and the other women looked like she had been dragged to the gates of hell. If she had opened her eyes she would have probably found a few designer bargains but her mind was closed. Stupid woman. I don't even know how they afford that lifestyle on £67k a year. They are probably living off credit cards. Can you tell she annoyed me :rotfl:

Going to have a pottering/money sorting day today. Both salaries have hit the bank so I am going to draw up a budget for the month. DS2 should be getting his first pay packed today so that should stop the endless money begging texts. I has really been a strain for us over the summer.

Santand£r CC statement has arrived with balance of £2283.51 this is at 0% which runs out 22nd March. I have calculated that I have 7 pay days until this date which gives me a target of £326.22 per month:eek:

I am ashamed to say that OH is in the dark about this bill and believes that we are totally debt free. I am solely in charge of managing the money and although we have spent the money together he would be so stressed to discover that we are in debt again. I know that I should come clean but if I can ride out the next 7 months things will be OK:o

    OK, plan for today:

    HEALTH
Stick to my WW points DONE
Go for a nice long walk in the sunshine DONE (don't faint anyone)
Do some yoga stretches as my back is sore from sitting most of the week WILL DO BEFORE BED

    WEALTH
Draw up a budget for the following month
List 3 items on £bay OH JUST LEFT FOR PUB BUT MIGHT DO IN THE MORNING WHEN HE IS SNORING
Check surveys (am up to £13.05 on PA) DONE, NOTHING NEW TODAY
Check Quidc0 for payouts DONE, NOTHING NEW THERE
    Check free lotto DONE
Update mileage claim ready to hand in on Tuesday WILL DO OVER WEEKEND
Find £326 to pay CC:o ERMMMM

    HAPPINESS
Book appointment for hair with cheaper hairdresser (still stressing about this one but thinking of money saved) DONE
Spend some quality time with hubby and get out of the house for a few hours DONE
Read a chapter of my book READ MAGAZINE INSTEAD
Watch some Midsomer murders on planner while OH is out tonight. LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS.

Happy Friday everyone, especially if its payday:j

  • Daily roundup. Some positives and some hurdles but such is life:)

I managed to get out for a walk FINALLY really enjoyed walking and chatting to OH. Did a good 4 miles and feel so much better for it. I have eaten healthily all day and stuck to my WW points as I should be able to make class this week, As a GOLD member I no longer need to pay but have to stay within 5lbs of goal.

Talked ourselves out of ordering a take out and made hoisin noodles with chicken for OH and without for me. Delicious and made from store cupboard stuff.

Challenge of the day was another text from DS2 who has realised that he has some crossover rent from his current student accommodation and the one he is moving into tomorrow. I have had to send him £150:( He also wont get paid until Monday as unlike mine his payday is not affected by the bank holiday as the owner of the business does a direct transfer (small independent shop). I have calculated how much we have had to subsidise him since 1st June and it came to £1865. No wonder we are struggling

I know I have said this before but this really should be the end of things. He should also get his £250 deposit back sometime this month which I will get once it comes through.

Going to settle down to Midsomer Murders as OH doesn't like it so will make the most of him being in the pub. He only goes out once a month, bless him., He really is no bother at all.
