These things take time.....

Buffy - He was doing the whole transfer the rent out of his account at first but it went by the wayside when his last loan went in. Hopefully this will help him get into good money habits.
CCL - Thanks for your words of encouragement. It really is difficult to see one of your children heading for potential financial disaster. He has always been the one who wanted subs on his pocket money even from an early age. Lets hope now he is older he can see the consequences.
Christening was lovely and lots of people there. Just shows how little I know them, the twins are aged 2 not 8 I:rotfl: Food was really late and disappointing from a veggie point of view. I had egg sandwiches and some cheddar cheese. There was a lovely sweetie trolley though with help yourself pick and mix:D
Also found £1 on the floor before the Christening so that went onto the collection plate, £3.50 for a pint for OH was the damage for the day along with the £20 cash for the card.
OH is having a kip so I have started dinner.......stealth attempt to avoid going out for Indian/Thai as when he wakes up it will be all cooked;)
WW points are out of the window as I had a jelly snake and 2 sugar dummy sweets along with numerous other jelly sweets. Would never dream of buying anything like that so made the most of it.
Still haven't sorted any £bay stuff out but not sure what will or wont sell. I have some lovely china tea sets but will do some research first as I dont want to give them away."These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -
Rainy day here, perfect day to catch up on some work stuff which will make me feel so much better going back to work tomorrow.
2 Years ago we made the decision to install a wood burning stove which heats the whole of downstairs and if we leave the door open to upstairs takes the chill away from upstairs too. Water is heated by propane gas bottles as we are rural and we have gone from needing around 16 bottles a year to around 2:T and at £60 each that is a significant saving. We have also saved on electricity as even with the central heating on the house never felt warm so would subsidise the heat with oil filled radiators and fan heaters:eek:
The best thing about this is we can get wood for burning totally free but have to put some graft in so today we are doing our first wood cutting day to replenish some of our winter stock. OH cuts it (pallets at a local factory) and I bag it. Bye Bye nice painted fingernails hello free heat:D
I also went right through the making extra income thread guide and think we may be in a position to reclaim our mortgage exit fee in 2003. According to Martin we may have paid as much as £225 with our previous provider. OH is going to ring them first thing tomorrow.
Goals for today:
HEALTH
Eat much more healthily than yesterday (feel a bit queasy to be honest so will eat lightly)
Bagging/carrying wood will burn a few calories and tone up my arms
Do some Yoga before bed
WEALTH
Check surveys/lotto
Get free wood for burner
Update budget spreadsheet
List at least 2 items on £bay (discovered that it is better to split all the old tea sets into trios so will do that)
Aim for a NSD (can't think of anything we need)
HAPPINESS
Clear at least 3 urgent work tasks
Pop in the neighbours (and our best friends) for a cuppa
Do some reading
Tidy bedroom
That lot should keep me our of mischief"These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -
Quite a productive day overall and a NSD :T Have cooked a roast chicken for Hubby and that will see him tonight's dinner and other dishes during the week. Really fancy something simple for dinner like egg and chips. I always do my chips in the oven with maris piper potatoes sprayed with lowcal oil and egg will be dry friend. I have eaten lots of fruit today.
Chopped 17 bags of wood:j quite hard work but we now have a healthy stash of wood for the winter. We will keep adding to this over the next few weeks as it is much better to do this kind of thing before the winter actually sets in.
£bay stuff is saved to draft as I cannot figure out how to get my photos from my phone to the PC so need to wait for OH to wake up as he is snoozing. Decided to split the crockery up into tro sets and have a BIN price of £6 or best offer for each. I have 10 sets in total but have doubts that they will all sell. You never know I guess.
Had a lovely cuppa with my neighbour and tidied bedroom up. Responded to some urgent emails and have noticed that I am excused from enrolment duty next week so no need to do any work today as I will now have time during the week.
Had my first I-say survey for 160 points and I believe its 1360 needed to get a £10 voucher but apparently they are quite regular. Nothing from PA today but I guess there will be more during term times.
Overall a positive day.:)"These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -

When I say Chop I mean OH whizzes through pallets with a circular saw. I have to bag them and put them in the car. Still a good couple of hours workout though and we have to leave the place spotless so lots of brushing up sawdust.
Hope your first day back goes well CCL xx"These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -
Pinch, Punch first of the month, white rabbits and all that malarky.
1st September
I have joined the TLW challenge (take lunch to work) which can also include making lunch at home on weekends so I am aiming for 27 days in the month. Next week I am out of the country delivering some training from Sunday-Wednesday so all meals will be provided. Must remember this for next week's shopping list.
Goals for today:
HEALTH
Eat healthily (tuna salad and fruit for lunch)
Drink plenty of water
Use stairs not lift
Get out for a walk tonight with OH
WEALTH
List at least 2 more £bay items
Check lotto/surveys
Chase up mortgage exit fee with Hal1fax (really hoping this pays out)
HAPPINESS
Work methodically through my to do list and do not get distracted!
Leave work on time tonight
Wear something nice for the office, put on makeup, do hair
Have a walk into town at lunch time (no spending though)
Contact both my boys tonight for a catch up.
I hope everyone has a great day

Thanks Beanie :A I always try and make an effort and rarely leave the house without my make up applied. I have very pale skin so need a bit of colour on my cheeks and lippy otherwise I would look like a character from Twilight.:rotfl:
You must look even more fab since your weigh loss success."These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -
Great result from mortgage exit fee £50 on it's way to us from H@lifax. OH did have to spend over an hour on the phone though as he was transferred from one department to the next. It was at local rate so hopefully not much on the bill.
Totally messed up a £6 survey though as didn't get the full instructions and couldn't go back to the beginning page. Bad design if you ask me!
Got out of work late at just after 6pm as I forgot I had arranged to help a student before her resit exam tomorrow, never mind, it might help her pass.
Too tired to go for walk but will do some yoga stretches. Had a few walks between college sites though. I was really hungry today so my salad had to be supplemented with half a flapjack and I had coffee with a colleague. £1.60 spent.
Overall,on balance not a bad day.
Off to £bay a few more things, nothing seems to be moving at the moment!"These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -
