Damn it! I calculated it wrong :( so I am still under 50%, but at least I'm under 7k!

  • Morning all. Fmess, that's still fantastic progress, well done! Bob, it's hard living with the uncertainty isn't it? It sounds like the months with the rent break will be a little easier at least. Calling, how are you doing today?
At work - this morning is quiet, then the afternoon is very busy. I hate it, it's like waiting for doom! Rather get it all done in the mornings! The spending show on BBC1 was really interesting - it seems like, if you have a bit of money you always want more, but if you have so much money you don't know what to do with it, it seems to be a lot less important to you. I guess that makes sense. Being a teacher in a state school, my OH was really annoyed with the people who wanted an extra 50% of their wages to send their children to private school to "better" their children!! Each to their own, absolutely, but not something I would want to do. I can think of better ways to spend money (but I don't have kids, so easy for me to say!)
Have a good day turtles :)

Academia - thanks I am doing okay, back in work so busy bee. Thanks everyone for their kind wishes. Posted my fav doggie pics on facebook, got so many happy memories.

Somehow stuffed up my spreadsheet so looks like I won't make my stretch target. Feel like a right numpty.

Paid 100 pounds off cards today going in the right direction just a bit slower than I would have liked. Cleared my monthly card also 100 which I will stop using now.

SFD today hopefully, yesterday had to pay vet fees.

Loving the menu plans realise I don't really cook a great deal just for me.

  • Good morning turtles!

I am a walking zombie. It's my third day off work but I've been having difficulty sleeping. I think I left my setting permanently on night shift mode. I counted thousands of sheep last night before I finally dosed off at 5am this morning and still woke up at 9am. I have a lot of things on my to-do list and I have to really get on but I am lacking the energy or the focus. So here's wishing for a more productive day.

Yesterday was not a NSD unfortunately. I decided to tag along my hubby to the diy shop when he picked up the much-needed pipe to go under the sink (my excuse - to enjoy a quality time with him) then we ended up in Home Bargains and ALDI and had lunch at subway. I enjoyed the quality time with the nearest and dearest but not the feeling of guilt afterwards. Does anybody feel the same? After so much economising, any little unplanned spend is ridden with guilt and feeling of lack of control, instead of pleasure? We're still within budget but can't help feeling blue.

The program on BBC last night was indeed very interesting. People from various walks of life, from the opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of earning and spending. What Barack Obama said rings true in every case: "A budget is more than a series of numbers on a page: it is an embodiment of our values." . I also heard/read from somewhere, "Show me your budget and I'll tell you what you value."

Sorry to hear about your dog calling. Hugs from me here and the rest of the turtles. Glad to hear your business is picking up, welshkitty. Best wishes! Huge congratulations fmess for a fantastic achievement with your payments, and I'd say a milestone! All the best as you continue your journey. Bob you're a very strong and truly inspirational woman to be able deal with the uncertainty of your business and still come up trumps with the debt repayments and run a family and be heavily pregnant too. I wish I have your strength.

Chores are calling me now, but I just want to end this post with a good news. Hubby just saw a credit of £30 in our bank account from the energy club here on MSE for switching energy via the website. It's on it's way to the credit card as we speak! Yippee! Also had some cashbacks on Shopitise, Clicksnap and Checkoutsmart.
