Hello, me again. Just came back from my yellow sticker shopping and I couldn't be more pleased with what I've got. I bought 47 items in total for a humble amount of £9.98. These include 2 bouquets of flowers for 20p each (dropped one bouquet off to my bff's house), a chocolate cake (mega-malty chocolate factory ultimate cupcake) for £1, cod fillet, smoked salmon pate, spicy potato wedges, donuts, ciabattas, single cream, lots and lots of bread, pastries, cookies, chicken curry, fruits, vegetables and I can't remember what else all for 5p a pack. Total of 8 carrier bags!!! The full price would have been £47.30, giving me a savings of £37.42. :money::j:T It is highly addictive and makes me feel slightly guilty (I feel like I'm robbing the shop). :p. To make me feel less guilty i bought THREE full priced items eg bananas and 2 packs of couscous for 50p each :A That's not all -- I paid for them in 3 batches so 3 receipts uploaded on check out smart for 5p a receipt. Will get a cash back of £1.85 for the Coke Life as well. Oh to be debt free.

Crikey - where did you get that lot from? Sainsburys is the best for reducing things around here, our local Tesco is rubbish, things look like they've been in a war and they just knock pennies off.

DD went to Pony Club today so that was a spend but it was budgeted for, apart from we have only spent on gas for my car (LPG) but that came from the fuel budget. I have done some ironing, cleaned the bathroom floor, washed and dried 2 loads of washing, walked the dog in the woods and been for a run.

    Awesome work, tog :T:T:T

Fmess - sounds like a perfect weekend! Enjoy your pyjama days.

Welshkitty - good luck with getting back some fees and some redress for the course 'issues'.

Another NSD to claim here and a quiet day. Most refreshing.

Today I am grateful for good coffee, for my notebook, for the paddling pool, for catching dandelion seeds, for the raspberry canes doing what they do best.

  • Dolly I do my yellow sticker shopping at my local ashda convenience shop. hubby came from work with £5 to add to the emergency fund. He found a washed £5 note in the scrub suit he wore at work today. Finders keepers.

  • Fmess sounds like you had lovely company for the weekend. Here's wishing you a nice week ahead. Any more renovation projects going? Welshkitty good luck on your complaints procedure. I do hope you get your money back. Dolly I am slightly jealous of your lovely time with your kids this summer holidays. Hubby and I are working long hours this summer doing the gazelle intensity to bring the DFD one month earlier. The boys said they understand why we're doing what we're doing and we'll make up for it after the DFD. Congrats on your NSD apple.

  • Hi all. TOG, that's amazing and I agree, it can be very addictive! Dolly, you've been really active today!
Having a bit of a stress about a hen do I'm going to soon...already paid £160 for the weekend (cottage and food/drink) but got to get there myself (over 4hrs away by car, more by train and more expensive). Just been told to bring a bottle of wine, a yoga mat(!) and a fancy dress outfit!!! Had to tell the bridesmaids that I'll do my best but I won't be buying a yoga mat and I haven't got the money to spend on an elaborate fancy dress outfit. Makes me so mad...people aren't made of money - already going to cost me a fair bit to get to the wedding! Grr. Sorry, rant over.
Other than that, today has been a quiet day. Food shop done, then did some meditation earlier to try to quiet my anxious mind a little bit. Hope everyone has had a good day - first week of August done turtles!
Bought my first house in 2014 - now, to be mortgage free! :D

  • Hi academia, it is frustrating when other people have no concept of money and they impose on others a ridiculous amount just to have the event they want. Have you tried Freecycle? People sometimes give away yoga mats and outfits there. Can you car share with anyone to get there and split the cost?

We sometimes find ourselves isolated a little bit socially because a) we don't want to bore our friends with what we are so passionate nowadays - debt busting and cost-cutting (if I have a pound for every people who says they know all about saving money but never practices it, I'd be a millionaire now) b) my friends spend money like there's no tomorrow and I can't and won't keep up with them.

Thanks for the wishes re the uni complaint. Just to clarify, I am not expecting to get anywhere near the full 3 years fees refunded, but it gives me a starting point to negotiate from and hopefully get some sort of refund near to a figure I will be happy with. I might end up with nothing!

Have decided to start hitting the spending credit card before it gets too out of hand, so have used some of my savings to pay a chunk off. I don't want to use all of my savings (even though I have more than enough to clear it) as they are supposed to be to pay for my masters. As soon as I get any of the cash back or refunds I am waiting for I will put these straight towards the card too.

Bobarella, thanks the chilli was lovely. Most of it is going in the freezer tomorrow.

The Only Girl, hope your night shift is going well and wow what a good shopping.

academiablues, I totally agree that a lot of hen do's cost a fortune and in my opinion often spoils the whole experience. Hope you have a great time in the end.

    Evening all.

Well - yesterday I had a spend day again! I had friends over and ended up buying dinner for us and some treats. Spent more than I'd planned - although overall, am still within budget.

    Today = SFD number 6

My work outs are going well - though not seeing a vast difference yet. Went out for a long walk today too - hopefully burning off some of last nights food extravaganza lol.

Can't believe Monday is here again already!!! Hugs x

    Evening all,

The Only Girl - your sunday shops are always amazing - I need to remember to save my shopping until 3pm on Sundays.

After declaring that I was having a SFD and staying at home, my sister rang and we went shopping at h0me b4rg4ins (and then to the pub for lunch!) So lost my SFD but had a lovely time doing so.

The rest of the day has been fairly productive - installed new tv (its brilliant), packed all the items that the ex wanted and took them over to him. Had our first non-horrible conversation since we split up, so I'm feeling pretty pleased that maybe we can have an amicable relationship in the future (fingers crossed).

Tomorrow, will be a day at home. The new window cleaner is coming and I need to be in just in case his plan of accessing the back garden is not possible.
