Feeling better. A bit off all week but not sure why, couple of days I had to stay close to the bathroom. Then yesterday woke at 7.30am, bushy tailed but not bright eyed - swollen, red and crusty. Wiped them with boiled water and cotton wool, ate a porridge yoghurt, had my morning pills then fell asleep again.

Was a good diet day as did not eat much, slept a lot (did get loads of washing dry as had put it out the evening before). Had a very lazy day today. Eyes are improving (will go to the doctor's if I can't get clear by Monday) but still a little sore - washing my hands and scrubbing my nails every time I am near the bathroom.

Today I am grateful for undemanding entertainment, enjoying the weather and for DS3 going out for the day.

  • Good evening all!

Finally a NSD, NSD number 3! As planned, it was a lazy day today, a very lazy day. I stayed mostly in bed recuperating and recharging for a long week at work. I had a nice long soak in the bath (I never used to take baths, as I am pretty much a shower person) but this week I have felt the need for long baths, I've had 4 so far. I blame you lot for the influence, but I'm thankful for it. I am still yet to buy the much talked about Epsom salt for my bath. It has been very elusive, I keep getting blank stares from the sales lady when I ask them about it.

Hubby cooked a very nice chilli con carne for our dinner tonight, the very first decent meal I had today, and very yummy it was too.

Getting ready for the night shift now. I wish you all a wonderful night and a nice weekend.

The Only Girl - yes it has been sunny and crisp all weekend. In fact it feels from the weather this month like Autumn is coming earlier this year, although a few optimistic customers have said they think we might get an Indian summer in September. Hope your night shift went ok and you will soon be off to bed if not already.

Dolly - Glad you had a lovely day. Since discovering the 16p painkillers that Mr S do, standard paracetamol or 24p for Ibrufroen I am now loathe to pay anymore and keep a box around most of the time. Hardly a huge saving but thought it worth mentioning.

Stewby - £350 is still a lot of cash to pay off in one month! Sounds like you've been busy with planning ahead for your various plans too.

Mothernerd - Glad you are mostly better. Any news on your house sale yet?

Becky - that sounds a great way to make a saving, & I bet the smell of it cooking is amazing?

AB - cider slushi? Sounds dangerous :)

  • Thanks apple for the suggestion about Epsom salt. I will be placing my order soon. Can't wait to try it. Do you normally put essential/bath oils too?

Bob night shift was fine, it wasn't too busy. I was wide awake the whole 8 hrs I was at work. Hardly surprising as I was in bed all day yesterday and I intend to stay in bed all day today apart from 3-4 pm when I intend to make some more yellow sticker hauls again. If I would wake up to my alarm clock, that is. Well, that was 7.5 hrs overtime made on a Saturday night! That's going towards the credit card payment.

I was so touched by the kindness of my colleague who left a box of Carbury Roses and a thank you card for me at work. She was so appreciative of my willingness to cover the shifts at such short notice. I feel so blessed to have kind-hearted colleagues. It makes all the hard work worthwhile. (well being an MSE stalwart, I appreciate the extra money as well. Wink wink) this colleague who gave me the treats is the same as grade as me but she feels inclined to show appreciation. Imagine how nice a boss she would make if she's given the chance? Unfortunately we will be losing her soon. She's moving on to pastures anew. What a loss for us and the department. :(

I couldn't resist opening the chocolate box while driving so I had 5 little pieces (or was it 7 or 8?). Who's counting. That should be good enough for breakfast  Terribly unhealthy isn't it? I am now going to bed. I will dream of being debt free and wish you all a sunny weekend.

We do get the cheapie painkillers, DH got 2 boxes of Ibuprofen and a box of allergy tablets for £1.30. He has been bitten by an insect in the garden when he was cutting the grass and his ankle is swollen, last year he got bitten on the knee and ended up in hospital. I don't know what sort of bug it is but they live in one particular shrub, I have mentioned wearing trousers and wellingtons but he won't listen.

TOG - I use Epsom Salts and I put the amount I am going to use in a bowl and pour on some essential oil and leave it to soak a bit then add to the bath. I bought Westlab salts from Boots they are £4.99 for 1Kg, you can get them online and in some of the stores. Not as cheap as bulk buying but easily available if you want to try them out.

    Hi everyone!

I am back home after an amazing few days away. Unfortunately we lost the rugby, but still enjoyed every second of it - the atmosphere is always electric there. A huge positive is that we stayed well under budget (even though parking alone cost £20!) and my budgets are now looking like:

    Fuel - £39.69/£120
    Groceries - £60.46/£200
    Days out - £111.09/£200
    Business - £44.17/£100

Will probably do some grocery shopping today so will update again later on.

I have also submitted my complaint to the uni I have just left. A few other have also complained and we have decided to ask for 3 years tuition fees back instead of just 1.

I have briefly skimmed over what you have all posted but will have a proper read today.

    ETA updated grocery spends.

    Morning all,

Sorry I've not posted since Friday, I had my best friends come over Friday night and one of them stayed until this morning which was lovely. Friday and Saturday were spendy days - got the TV on Friday and spent £10 yesterday on dinner out, so for a whole weekend of socialising it cost me £10 plus a bit extra food to feed my guests.

Today and tomorrow should be SFDs as I'm pretty much going to stay at home, except to walk the dogs. Currently, I'm still in my pjs, sitting in a deck chair in the garden but under an umbrella as I got a bit burnt yesterday whilst on a super long dog walk. Lots of jobs to do around the house so I'm sure I'll keep busy.

well done on all your MSE ways, I have read all your posts but I'm on my phone so it's hard to scroll back and comment atm.

  • Hello, me again. Just came back from my yellow sticker shopping and I couldn't be more pleased with what I've got. I bought 47 items in total for a humble amount of £9.98. These include 2 bouquets of flowers for 20p each (dropped one bouquet off to my bff's house), a chocolate cake (mega-malty chocolate factory ultimate cupcake) for £1, cod fillet, smoked salmon pate, spicy potato wedges, donuts, ciabattas, single cream, lots and lots of bread, pastries, cookies, chicken curry, fruits, vegetables and I can't remember what else all for 5p a pack. Total of 8 carrier bags!!! The full price would have been £47.30, giving me a savings of £37.42. :money::j:T It is highly addictive and makes me feel slightly guilty (I feel like I'm robbing the shop). :p. To make me feel less guilty i bought THREE full priced items eg bananas and 2 packs of couscous for 50p each :A That's not all -- I paid for them in 3 batches so 3 receipts uploaded on check out smart for 5p a receipt. Will get a cash back of £1.85 for the Coke Life as well. Oh to be debt free.
