  • Happy Thursday lovely turtles! Bob, hope your tummy feels better and your day wasn't too manic - your target is ambitious, we're all cheering you on :)Calling, good luck on the extra £240!
Had a really bad time with my back last night - for some reason it was really painful :( tried to focus on my breathing a bit, because that usually helps, but ended up with a hot water bottle and some ibuprofen instead. Felt too ill to exercise this morning, so felt out of sorts all day! It's amazing how pain can make you feel so rough. Anyway, NSD today and managed some mindfulness at lunch time (mindful eating isn't something I like, but is something I feel I need to be better at!). Hope all turtles have had a good day - nearly the end of week one!

    Evening!

Apologies for being AWOL yesterday... This week has been a blur! Got people off at work and it has been crazy and I've been soo tired!

Yesterday, as expected, was a planned Spend Day - fridge restocked with salad/fruit and I had to do a big gym shop for my whey powder and supplements. That stuff seems so expensive - but it lasts awhile. Managed to wangle a whopping 20% off my order too and bagged a free bag of whey! If anyone buys that stuff let me know and I'll pass on the details. The place I'm trying does totally natural products without any artifical sweeteners/colours etc. I'll let you know if it tastes like chalk haha!

Today however = SFD number 5 - hoorah!

Get well soon Bob. You're showing your age saying go go gadget... I was of that era too (Inspector Gadget cartoon lol).

I'm catching up on posts - it all moves so fast haha!!! I leave you for 2 days and look at the mischief you get into when my back is turned lol

AB & Calling - Sorry you both have been suffering with your backs. Hugs. Or rather Calling sorry misread, sorry you had a bad night awake.

Apple - Wow Poland. That must be a great place to visit. Glad your appointment was not delayed by the tube strike. Enjoy your time on the sofa :)

Dolly - Lidl and Aldi are great. I think they must be around 20% cheaper than the big 4. And the range is much improved from when they first arrived too.

Fmess - May as well go for quality where you can. Clarks have a resale value too on ebay. Have sold kids shoes on that way.

Abundant - my son has recently discovered the good Inspector. We've really enjoyed watching them on Netflix. I don't think I ever realised how dumb he was!!

Thanks for the kind wishes too. The day was fine. Not as busy as yesterday which is good because I got some cleaning done. When it's so busy you get so behind on the little jobs that make everything run smoother. Hopefully have a better nights kip too.

    Bob

    Evening all,

I have had a very spendy day and didn't even get a tv. I spent my treat money on two pairs of shoes in the sale, then I got the Clarks' shoes for work (could have got them online through top cashback but currently doing battle to get my other online purchases delivered whilst I am in) and a bikini on 20% off from M&S. I think I should be on the naughty step, but it has all come out of my extra earnings for this month, so it has not affected by budgets, but will affect the speed of paying off my debt.

I have also spent all of my food budget, but I am entertaining 3 guests this weekend so need more food than usual.

Hugs to all who are feeling ill or achey today

Another spendy day yesterday, however, mostly budgeted. Everyone seems to be doing fab with NSDs - have only achieved 2 so far but will soon catch up I hope. That's me now off on holiday and if I mind correctly from a discussion in last month's thread, I can claim NSDs on holiday as long as I stay under budget. I have a £100 budget so shouldn't go over that. In fact I'm hoping to come back with some as I have some other things planned for the month and no money to pay for them.

I'm on the bus heading home - I have a lovely 7 hour journey ahead of me today :( however I have my ipod and a book with me so it should pass quickly. My parents live in the countryside so there's lovely walks all around. I plan to go a walk every day and practice mindfulness. I think it will be easier to do than when I'm walking to work because there will be no traffic noise.

Once I get back from holiday, I need to start bugging 2nd job for some more shifts. I usually do 15-20 hours a week - this week I did 3 and next week so far I have 8 hours booked. If I don't manage to pick up more, then I won't be able to achieve my targets for the month. Payday from 2nd job today so have paid £8.75 to the debt and £5 to the emergency fund.

Right I think I've wittered on long enough so hope everyone has a good day and that anyone who was feeling unwell is better.

PS I was in paperchase yesterday to buy a card for a colleague who is leaving and they had one with a turtle on the front saying 'turtally' sorry you're leaving - reminded me of here :D

academia - hope your back feel better today.

I didn't spend any money yesterday at all. I cycled then later the kids cycled to my parents house and I walked behind with the dog. I picked some blackberries and raspberries, had tea and cycled again with DH.

Today I will be spending money from my 6 week hols budget, we are going on the train to a lovely little town, I am taking a packed lunch so we will just have a snack there and obviously the train fare to pay for.

Tonight I am making hm pizza for tea and if the weather stays dry we will go for a walk afterwards.

    Have a lovely day all.

  • Hello all, sorry I have been quite quiet this week. Haven't added any to my 2 NSD's because of little spends here and there. I have been quite out of focus recently. Probably knowing how tight this month is going to be having very little to play with, has caused me to lose my intensity a bit. But it goes on a vicious circle because if I lose the focus completely, the tighter this month is going to be. I have noticed that the less I check in the less focused I become. So here I am sneaking back in sheepishly, after wandering too close to the edge, and nearly falling off the wagon.

The turtle world has been really buzzing in my absence and I haven't caught up yet with your inspirational journeys of late.

I'm sitting in the car waiting for my time to go in to work. I nearly didn't bother to pack any lunch but the turtle in me kicked me into making my salad instead of splurging in the canteen. I'm thankful for my spinach, lettuce and rockets in the pots that provided me with free salad today. A friend whom we visited yesterday because her husband has not been too well recently, kindly sent Us a nice corned beef pie, a slice of which went into the lunch box too. So happy days.

It's time to go now. Hoping to stay in the straight and narrow today. See you later,

    Morning Turtles

Miss Tara - that is hilarious about that card:rotfl: hope your long bus journey goes smoothly. I bet that is by far the cheapest travel option so well done you on being frugal :)

The Only Girl - it's interesting what you say echoes Callings sentiments on feeling less motivated when times are tight. But you could dial it back a bit and stretch your DFD a bit now you are so close? One thing I know I am guilty of is 'all or nothing' thinking. You feel like unless you do what you set out to achieve you have failed. But life isn't often black and white. As someone recently wrote there are also 50 shades of grey ;)

Well I have given my stretch target a swift kick in the goolies this morning. Have taken the edge off with a £153.18 payment so on a nice round £500. Minus the business research £50 to come and the COS £5 that puts me at 31% achieved. Or £435 for the win :)

I have been wobbling on going flat out because of my self employed status and the impending baby. Both make me feel like I should be sitting on a big fat nest of money not spending it out. But as my EF earns a princely 1.5% & my debt costs me a lot more in real terms I should just get over that and pay it off.

It's slow at the shop this morning but that has been the MO recently so I won't sing till the fat lady does :)
