I've been missing from OS for about 2 months now. I have had to get involved with goings on up north so have been flitting between that life and living in the south, that on top of work stress that now has ended, I felt that I had no time for MSE really, although if I am completely honest I just didn't want to.
This is my first post in a very long time but I am pretty ok now, I think it has something to do with a week away camping in Devon and SomersetA week visiting NT places with our trusty membership, chilled out and laughed has helped rid of the angst connected to the issues I have faced of late.
Coming down this morning I felt a little chill in my little house. I haven't experienced that in a long while and it brought a smile to my screwed up sleepy face. I adore the autumn (it's a mothering, prepping, homely cosy thing) and cannot be without OS for this period of the year!
I have been up to alsorts in a bid to keep my mind on an even keel, all of which OS/hobby based but I just didn't feel like interacting and sharing. Although I am surrounded by washing which will turn into ironing sorting and putting away, I do plan to make a bread basket liner today. DH liked the 'treat' of rustic breads and cheese while we were away. DH pet, you're married to a rustic wannabe. :rotfl: I am going to make bread all week to see how I get on, see how the electric usage copes etc. Even the kids have agreed that they would prefer a hunk of bread and butter for their packed lunch that cheese or ham sandwiches 'with crusts' I won't tell them that they're actualy opting for a bigger tasty crust eh? :rotfl:0 -
Hello Fuddle:j:j:j:j
Good to see you back, I am sure the holiday did you the world of good, a change of scenery and pleasing yourself what you do and when you do it. Enjoy your girls for the rest of the school holiday, and I do share your view on prepping for autumn. In a way I don't want summer to end, but I love autumn as well.
Take care

fuddle so so good to see you back
, I missed you so much. Yes life is up and down, nice when it is up and then there are downers but we learn from the downers and we get stronger. I am so glad that you are on an even keel right now and enjoying your hobbies. You sound happy
I don`t want to get too involved in mse either, it is fine for very limited times but there is a whole world out there, just waiting to be explored. Nothing just drops into our laps when sitting in front of the computer, most often we have to reach out of the comfort zone of chair and internet. Best to be proactive if possible and to get into the energising zone instead of doom and gloom
A little more winter prep house maintenance to do today and then allotment picking and I am starting winter tidying up there. Later, reading and finishing knitting a pair of socks. Spinning quietly this evening as I want to finish a batch of lovely pink shetland wool for a ravelry pattern called urban poncho, which looks like a lovely easy knit. All enjoyed with company on the allotments and chocolate and radio/cd at home. Lovely simple calm happy day ahead0 -
The bonus with spending all your time on MSE is at least when you're procrastinating here you're saving money and learning new tips at the same time so it's not a complete waste
How about opening up the Money Makeover in another tab and doing one thing on it for each hour, 2 hours etc you spend on the Forum?Could you do with a Money Makeover?

I'm a bit like you Bluebell rarely go out and enjoy MSE. I've learned so much on here and along with my spookier forums this is my social life0

Honest I think it`s good if people choose to spend their time on mse, I love the fact that we are free to choose what we each want to do.
Dgs age 8 was here the whole weekend, we get on so well and I have started teaching him diy, not totally altruistic I might add, he loves being here and is up to my chin so will be so helpful in a few years. Cackle cackle, lol I sound like a crafty old witch now. Tbh it is good to get him away one to one, he is really well behaved with me and we talk non stop. He wants to know everything I can teach him. He is a bit different at home. I can see the steadying influence of a grandparent
Kitchen emptying is well advanced, yes I have the whole of next week but I am liking to sort as I go. Next thing into my cs trolley are two nordicware cake tins. Impulse buys and never used, I blame Nigella Lawson. I have to take a breather though because sometimes I can`t see the wood for the trees and I get boggled
Sleeping at night, pah, not going well now and I am waking 2 or 3 times in the night. My own fault, tv and laptop and a chocolate biscuit. Am back on a diet of reading and water from 9 pm
I moved a sofa myself, took all the cushions off and walked it so am getting to have space for all the kitchen cupboards and appliances coming next week. Bought a cheap microwave from costco, I resolved not to buy anything else but they had lovely food offers, and I spent over £100 but I saved £30 on the microwave as it was on offer this month and I am using it for dyeing yarn after its temporary use in as a food cooker
Watermelon snack eaten, glass of water drunk, think I will do another 20 minute stint and that will be it for today0 -
It's a good place to be when I'm having a bad day with my lupus and can't do much more than lie on the sofa with the netbook.:o
I've got a house-guest for 10 days - Lizzie, a beautiful Sprocker Spaniel; fortunately it's stopped raining now, so I'll hop on the mobility buggy in a bit and taker her for her walk.
DH is just ironing his shirts and trousers for work next week so I'll wait til he's done, as hopefully he'll want to come along too.:o Bless him, he did Lizzie's morning walk today because I felt really unwell this morning.:AIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I post often but I pop on between jobs and jobs have priority. I find that the online community gives me the ability to feel I fit in, on some of the threads I feel normal (prepping for example) rather then feeling utterly out of step with most of my fellow men. I think the OS community brings together diverse souls in a common theme and gives fellowship to all of us and makes us less lonely even if like me we spend most of our time, from choice, with limited human company.0

I am still writing a list at the start of my day, a to do list and a list of a couple of meals, being on my own now it is oh so easy to waste my day
Have been busy emptying the kitchen and am now surrounded by clutter which has mysteriously spread to several rooms, so today I did a basic tidy of my `sewing` room. I did quite a bit of paperwork sorting, some complicated and the files are up there now, in a cupboard. Not 100% sorted but looks neater
Tomorrow I am going to use my trusty and old green life juicer, first going to the allotment to get fresh greens, cucumbers, beetroots etc. I can make juice with this fab machine that will easily last 72 hours, so I juice and pack into bottles to store in the fridge. I certainly could not eat the amount I can take in juice and besides my stomach likes juice better because greens make my stomach tense with all the fermentation and then I suffer at night. So yes a bit of a faff to clean the workings but I hop them from one load of water to another and it takes 20 minutes. Not at all bad for 3 days of veg juices. The one I have at my side now contains, beetroot, celery, cucumber, a little apple, swiss chard and carrot. Tomorrow I will pick some kale as well
Am trying to snatch some drying time outdoors today, trying to keep on top of my chores but made a little time to go on my, also old, inverter. I don`t do the full inversion these days but go back about 70 degrees and twist my upper body. It keeps me straight and pulls my discs apart so they stay hydrated. This inverter of mine is one of my best ever `must keep` devices, it gets me out of many backache situations after being on the allotment
I am having to wait in yet again for a small delivery via parcelforce 24 hour, it was on the van to be delivered yesterday but went back there and is out again for today. I have sent a message to the ebay seller, I paid extra for 24 hour delivery. Should he refund the extra?
I have a tv in my bedroom, never watched by me but a 32" big black freeview thing. Would you get rid of it? It was our second set as dh used to watch rugby up there if I wanted something else on. Is it bad for sleeping do you think? I mean just the fact that there is this big black screen in there, right opposite my bed

I love MSE and have followed for years but not as a mega poster. If I have a query it is always my first port of call as you can bet that someone has posted a similar query in the past and got replies. I would say I look in most days but usually just at new posts although I do have update alerts on a couple of threads that I enjoy reading.
I don't see MSE as a time waster for me but funnily enough I have been thinking about having a cull of other blogs that I read. I thought to myself recently why was I interested in other peeps lives when mine was happening around me? This was my wake up call to reduce online time - and I am having a final read of the blogs I follow and then deleting most of them. i can always do a catch up later in the year if I want to.0
