coffee time again and a bit of os browsing. Limiting my mse time is most def working, I agree with above posters who said that it creeps up. Strangely I have been sleeping a whole lot better at night, 8 good hours last night.

I found that as well. I'd sit up late looking at forums, then couldn't sleep.

Now that I'm not staring at a screen until late, I've been sleeping much better

Interesting thoughts, thanks Kittie for starting it. I don't use other forums or Twitter etc, (FB reserved for family who are abroad and are easily and quickly reached that way!) I think that I like the privacy of having an online ID which allows me to reveal only what I want people to know about me. I mainly use OS, as people seem to think in the same vein as me. I often think of something during the day like 'someone on OS would know that' or 'maybe I should pass that on' One thing I do try to guard against, is frequently quoting useful information that I've read on here after my son called me Mrs Google once!
In common with some other posters I'm an early riser so find that 'a quick check' on my subscribed threads is an enjoyable (and quiet!) way to start the day while others are still sleeping. I sometimes have another look at night as part of my relaxation. I'm not a great tv viewer and I've always read non-fiction as I like to learn when I read, which MSE does for me in spades! I must admit that I could spend more time on here if I didn't exercise a bit of self control though and try not to get too involved with chatty, must- post- every- day type threads!
Thanks to everyone who posts, you are a very enjoyable interlude in my day:beer::T

Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Bloomin wonderful sleep again last night, 8 hours and a full moon too, which normally keeps me awake all night. I have to say that I think my sleeplessness was caused by net browsing

Lots of easy stuff done this morning, even hobby stuff and a casserole prepared and cooking. I feel happy and energetic again today. Spoke to 3 different nice neighbours while hobby carving, just being out of the house is good. It was so easy for me to sit and browse nothing in particular, it takes an effort but well worth it

    see you tomorrow

I found this site by accident some time ago, and the pension section was so helpful, I learned an awful lot I wish I learned years ago!! I dip in and out during the day, in between switching bank accounts, sorting my pension, housework, work and grandchildren- oh and knitting as well!! Better than being down the pub! x

Local farmers seem to have got all the grain in, mad scramble yesterday afternoon. The oil burners and conveyors were on all night so a bit less sleep for me as they are only a small field away, that and new baaing sheep behind me.

I confess to buying a new expensive cleaner, which arrived yesterday and which, although expensive, cost less than a weeks coach holiday in the uk. I used to have the same one but many years ago and they have a very efficient new version. All I can say is wow, Fred is cleaning the bedroom as I write and sup my coffee. He did the snug this morning and the living areas last night. I do have to move a bit of stuff but that helps my kondoing as I am now thinking how to make the rooms even more feng shui than before. The amount it picked up was gobsmacking and yes I do clean. I just did a quick dust and steam cleaned the rough stone floor in the snug and am about to replace things, more neatly I hope.

Arm and wrist ache this morning, too much of being at it with a mallet, all day yesterday. Just fine detailing my model today and then a wax and she can sit happily, having her fat bottom stroked by everyone who comes in and they all did, even when not finished

Coffee still hot, good I can carry on. I am very much on top of things now, it is amazing how much I get done every day, while restricting myself on the net and that includes checking my bank accounts every single day, a must do after a £2000 fraudulent withdrawal from my cc, 5 years ago. Got the money back as I was able to ring the bank very quickly

    Bye for now

I totally agree. I'm not on FB or Twitter at all, because they want way too much personal info.

  • I don't do Facebook or Twitter in fact other than reading a couple of peoples blogs OS is the only computer place I go. I pop in between jobs but if there are jobs they have priority. I only join in on a few of the OS threads but as MARDATHA says, my time is my own and I can do with it what I like. I've found some very good company here, made friends who I value in my life over aquaintances I have in real life, real soul mates who I don't have to explain what I mean to and that's a rare and wonderful privilege in life. I would be lonely without my online community friends, some of whom have become real life friends too, thanks guys, you know who you are and you're the tops!!!

I`m not going to hide, I am browsing while eating breakfast, I feel it is a one two three day ie 123 firmly shut the laptop lid. Making a short shopping list for later, including a bottle of good gin, I am not over imbibing at all but am loving a g and t a couple of times a week, am loving tanqueray but might try bombay saphire. On second thoughts I will save the gin for an online shop to make the amount add up

I went cold turkey with tv yesterday afternoon, such rubbish on there, antiques show after antiques show. I watched the best exotic marigold hotel while enjoying my g&t and knitting. Was lovely, really enjoyed the time and needed a rest afternoon. Later went on ebay and have ordered more dvds.

I am making good friends with a neighbour, long time widow, kind, feisty lady my age, with good sense of humour, my type. Have known her for a couple of years but was taking my time in being sociable as this is a small village. I`ll be getting the 2nd marigold dvd and will be asking her if she wants to join me, lovely to find a friend in the making

Looks like a nice day but am needing to have a list today as I could well waste it by procrastinating, I sense it in my bones

Anyone else not have a singing dancing mobile phone? I have an old cheap payg for emergencies. don`t use twitter, fb or any of that stuff. Only the laptop and that alone is pretty energy sapping

Allotment later also, to be grounded, in the fresh air and to meet people

This site has changed my life. There that sounds a bit dramatic but its true. Here I learned that there were people out there with similar problems and it might be possible for me to pay off my debts, get my house more organised and make my life a bit easier. I discovered things like snowballing your debts, mealplanning, kondoing and the flylady system which I would have never come across otherwise.

I think some of the topics discussed on here just wouldnt be discussed in other places. Most of us are still reluctant to talk about debts and money issues and there is an element of keeping up with the Joneses. Not so on these forums.

I dont do facebook, twitter or any other kind of social media but I do post on here a fair bit. And yes I have made friends who I actually care about, although some might think that odd.

Having said all that you can waste a lot of time browsing about and there are some forums that I stay away from for various reasons. OH bought me a Kindle Fire for Christmas and there is a temptation to use that for browsing when reading my book might be better for me.

Oh and another positive - I used to have a bit of an internet shopping problem so this gives me a very MSE alternative!!!
  • The same here, I have a payg 'phone, and I don't do facebook (the work of the devil) or twitter.

I have picked up many great recipes and hints and hardly have anything left in the fridge at the end of the week. I can remember a time when I would throw food out because it hadn't been used up, not now. My meal plan is based around what food I have in and I have saved quite a bit of money
