You are totally powering through that debt Kirsty. Well done!! If you can keep up the momentum once you are debt free think of how much savings you'll have really soon!
We went swimming today as a family outing. Then for coffee. I agree with you about needing a bit of a treat otherwise all we do is keep the house tidy, batch cook, YS shop etc and that can get anyone down after a while.

Made an eBay sale last night which was paid this morning and went straight to MBNA. I love selling things which allow me to make extra PADs - I want to bring my Debt Free Date in by quite a chunk....6 months to be exact!
In part (4 months worth of payments) this will be by paying off the money which my parents owe me (I should get that back next April) as for the other 2 months, I need to try and find a way to get paid myself - meaning lots and lots more eBay sales and cutbacks on spending. I think I'm doing fairly well so far - I've managed to bring my halfway point in by a month so I should reach halfway through the debt at the end of May!
It's hard work and sometimes I want to give up and fill my credit cards with exotic holidays and stuff for the house, but then I remember how far I've come and that it will all be worth it if I can have my dream family

Yes that feeling of just giving up and hitting the credit is something I have experienced at times. But I now think I want debt freedom more than anything shiny or new including holidays. We can do this!" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

I had an unexpected phone call yesterday from my gynae team telling me my GP had requested an urgent referral last week so they have booked me in for a scan tomorrow morning and had booked a consultant appointment for 15th March - which happens to be the day I'm having a tube put into my stomach at another hospital to monitor my acid and I really don't feel up to being probed from both ends within 2 hours! (Sorry for the TMI!) so they have rescheduled it for 23rd March .
I'm pleased it's come through so quickly but also a bit stressed because they said the wait time is 18 weeks and it's been less than 2 and I hate when they mention the word urgent....although I'm starting to wonder if my GP just refers everything as urgent as the same wording was on my breast clinic/mammogram referral...
I can't remember if I have mentioned but we have really been struggling with transport for a while - I have a car which OH uses as he works in Birmingham (about 20 miles away) and has to start at 7.30 whereas I only work 1.5 miles from home so I get a lift in, but he doesn't get home until after 6 and on 2 nights a week does a kung fu class followed my a masters weaponry class and doesn't get home until after 10. I'm glad he has something he loves but I was getting a bit resentful as it is my car and yet I am stuck at home on the days he does kung fu - I'd like to go and visit my parents but it's not possible as they live an hour away and it would involve 2 buses and a train, by the time I got there after work it would be time to catch the last train home!
My mom is waiting to pick up a new car and is giving us her old one :shocked:we have been looking for a while but the reality is we can't afford it so had resigned ourselves to having to work out a schedule with the car but now we won't need to. It won't get tons of use (which is a bonus as it's quote old!), but it will mean I can visit my parents once a week and go and see my goddaughter and my best friend (about 20 miles away in a small town with no train station)
I'm so pleased - I'm hoping this will help things with OH and I too as I could feel myself getting more annoyed with the situation as time went on - especially when he huffs if I say I need the car for a day for hospital appointments!
In debt busting news there isn't much to report - I've got one item with bids on ebay (only 99p at the moment, but it all helps!)
I'm on countdown to my birthday :bdaycake: holiday too - we fly in April so it's coming round quickly and I can't wait to have some time to ourselves, away from work.
I had a work meeting and lost my cool a little bit - I had to remind the powers that be that I was taken on as a department manager and have found myself managing others bits and pieces here and there that weren't originally my job role and I don't have time to do in a normal working day - then I'm getting the third degree about why they aren't done! The long and short is I am now recruiting for an accounts assistant to take some of the basic accounts burdens so I can concentrate on other areas:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

Hello, hope your scan is Ok, you have quite a few things going on, but hopefully having the scan will be a good step, I am sorry that you have quite a few health issues, I also am suffering pains and other issues similarly to you, and had a scan a few weeks back and everything was normal, ( which was a unexpected, I thought they would be able to see/ find something) I also had a consultant appt and now have to have a lapa op to look at endo, which is quite a shock and very new to me, so feel on a similar path like yourself, although I am older than yourself.
Take care, well done on your PADS, your the queen of those!0 -
Hi TheMillions,
Thank you - I'm keeping everything crossed. To be honest I don't see the point in the scan, as they never see anything - it always looks fine and then when they do a lap it's endo galore (I exaggerate, I actually only have specific affected areas, there just happens to be a few very awkward areas that can't be excised or lasered so no relief)
Hopefully they find something curable for you, but if it is endo, please don't let them tell you that a hysterectomy will cure all - since my 'now or never' appointment I have spent hours poring over studies and doctors and the truth is there is no cure for endo, a hysterectomy seems to be the advised thing here by gynaecologists who are at a loss, but endometrial tissue is self hormone producing - it will produce it's own estrogen and continue to grow even after a hyster.
There is a fantastic surgery option called endometrial excision - it's what I'm pushing for at the moment but is only done by a few doctors throughout the country so the wait lists are long, and I'm not near the top as part of mine is growing over the artery in my pelvic wall - full excision is impossible due to the risks so it would only be a limited time relief for me. If you are diagnosed and it is excisable though - I'd definitely do some research on the nearest surgeon.
This month is actually endo awareness month, so there are lots of great articles out there at the moment.
Sorry if I'm rambling, it's something I feel so strongly doesn't get enough research and knowledge is so limited that I tend to get into full flow without realising:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

Try and look at it as a good thing that your doctor can get you a queue jump. At least you won't be waiting too long...
And brilliant news on the car as well. We only have one between us, and it's rare that our plans clash but I know the annoyance when they do...Not giving up

Time to take back control

Thanks CCL - I'm just glad the doc listened and took it seriously - so often GPs just brush it off as heavy or painful periods rather than refer me when I ask - it took 5 years to find a doctor who would do a laparoscopy the first time round, and it takes an average of 10 years to be diagnosed so I'm lucky, and grateful.
I think my mom was feeling guilty about the amount of money they were spending on peanut (the niece/nephew) and thought this would make up for it - in reality, if I had the money I'd be going as mad as they are on baby shopping and them spoiling their first grandchild doesn't bother me at all (although I wish they'd be a bit more MSE about it - they don't even try to find discount codes - they have such a lot to learn!!)
Either way it's a super bonus for us - I get to have a life again (only to other peoples houses, I'll still be MSE conscious!) I think I've struggled so much because I've had a car since I was 17, never been without and never not been able to visit people when I wanted etc so it's been a shock to the system for the past 8 months....I've just realised OH and I have lived together for 9 months next week....without killing each other. that's got to mean something :rotfl::j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)
