I realised I didn't tell you all the lovely problems I had with my orders for Friday 13th...
Carpet fitters were due between 8-10am, with bed due to arrive between 12-6pm, so the bedroom would be all ready for us to get straight into on the Friday night (having spent thursday night sleeping on the floor as we were desperate to stay at the new house)
Got a call at 9am to say carpet fitters weren't coming until the afternoon, which would clash with the bed delivery. Then got a call from Bensons to say they had lost our bed and we wouldn't be able to get it that day. Coupled with the leak from the night before, I lost it and ended up in tears on the phone. The poor lady was absolutely lovely and said she was getting an agency driver in who had two drops about 10 miles from me, so if someone could locate the bed within 30 minutes he could bring our bed also.
Promised a call back within 30 mins with an update, didn't get a call for an hour so phoned myself - in a 19 minute long queue and it says to hang up and call back in 15 mins and your place in the queue will be held...called back 15 mins later, still an 18 min wait so hang up and call back again...to be told I'm 21 mins from being answered...rang a different department and spent 10 mins on hold but was finally told bed SHOULD be delivered that PM....lovely
Our lovely new bed turned up at 4.30pm with a poor driver who had been on the road from 5am and driven about 350 miles in total, poor thing - instantly felt guilty for throwing a hissy fit but he was lovely
Collected a bottle of my medicine on Thursday, took it Friday morning and it tasted funny....out of date! When I called they told me I'd have to bring it back but I couldn't leave in case the carpet fitter/bed turned up...I felt like I was in a carry on film!
Booked a kitchen designer (Howdens after some review on the forum) to come and have a look at the kitchen today so we can start budgeting and saving for it, waited in all day and chased them twice (told sorry, we are running a bit late, be there soon) just called to say they won't be coming today....so annoying. Now they want me to book another day off work to try and make another appt. Not happening! Another appointment arranged with benchmarx who will hopefully keep to their appointments!
Still won't take the shine off for me. Our very own house. Who'd have thought?!:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

You are so lucky! I would love to own a home one day — though since the only way I can see that happening is if my parents and brother all die, I'm in no hurry... Glad you're enjoying it despite the problems. After all, dealing with a few mishaps is a fair orice to pay for having your own house
Plus, having to replace the kitchen is an opportunity to get one which suits your exact requirements and tastes

Thanks ABA, I realise how lucky we are and to be honest it could be a hovel and I'd still be excited it was ours
I spent a massive amount of time worrying that I'd never be able to afford to buy a house, and then when my debt kept creeping up I blocked it out and told myself not to be ridiculous, and that it was more cost effective to rent because if anything went wrong I wouldn't have to pay for it myself....
OHs parents have given us the most amazing gift in the deposit (we will pay them back, but it would have taken us 7 years to save the 10% deposit we needed which would never have happened. We are now paying less than we did before so hopefully can start to think about the next steps...although first of all we are building a 'house/emergency fund'
I completely agree about the kitchen, it's liveable but not to my taste (luckily, my taste in kitchens leans toward the cheaper end of the market...a first for me :rotfl:)
It was my first full day back at work today and I found it difficult to get back into the swing of things, kept thinking that I would rather be at home painting the bathroom!
I think I mentioned before about having to let a member of my team go, and I had to come in on my day off yesterday to do so. It was very difficult and I ended up bursting into tears after they left, earning me a withering look and a sharp 'toughen up' from my boss which didn't go down too well.
Anyway, tonight I am determined to finish my wardrobeand keep looking at the bright side as I know I am very lucky at the moment. I think I should take a leaf out of CCLs book sometimes and do some gratitudes. Maybe one to think about

Not sure if I mentioned but I decided to take my boss up on the extra hours. I've been doing them anyway so it made sense to get paid for them!
Plus I figure I will put half towards my debt repayments and half towards the kitchen fund. Will take us a long time to get there but it's a start!
Did a massive batch cook yesterday (a few different pasta bakes, mostly with sausages as I had some to use up) so our lunches are done for the next week
I'm away again this weekend, for a friends 30th birthday this time...looking forward to it but gutted to be leaving the house so soon after getting inHave budgeted much less than I would normally spend which will be difficult, but that's all I'm taking so it will have to stretch!

Makes sense to do the extra paid hours if you are doing them anyway. Glad all the house stuff is coming along well

Looking forward to seeing that extra money in my payslip to be honest Bob! Almost wish I'd just agreed sooner rather than being stubborn.
I'm packing tonight rather than unpacking as I am off to wet and windy Wales for the weekend....wish me luck!:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

Well I'm back from Wales....it was lovely, although no snow - a bit gutted as there was snow at home while I was away
I had a lovely time away but couldn't wait to get back to the house, and to my lovely cosy bed (had the joys of a bottom bunk for 3 nights which completely killed my back)
Have also realised I am too old to be playing drinking games having had the Worlds worst hangover on Saturday, I was sooooooooo poorly. Entirely self inflicted but still rough!
Have come home and realised that with my PADS I have paid almost £400 to my debt over the weekend, which is lovely as I'm now under 10k on my natwest loan
I had a lovely day painting the bathroom yesterday, and plan to gloss all the woodwork tomorrow. Have to do the final clean on the old house tonight though as handing keys back tomorrow night/Thursday AM depending on when the landlord can be bothered to be there.:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

Today is the day I hand back the keys to the old house for good. I can't wait to just be rid of it now - I've come to hate the place, which is such a shame as I had 3 really good years there, including the first place OH and I lived together.
I am dreading the nightmare landlord being a pain over the deposit, but there's not much I can do until I know for sure, and then start planning the strategy to take him to court if needed.
On another note, this is my 500th post  how exciting!
OH has told me to dress nice and get to Birmingham by 6pm tonight....I don't finish work until after 5 and it's normally at least an hour trip at that time so that will be fun :rotfl: lovely that he has arranged some sort of surprise outing for us though:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

Ooh, I hope that you had a fun night.
And good luck getting your deposit back. I'm going to be optimistic and say that you'll get it without any hassle at all.Not giving up

It was a lovely night CCL - went to missoula for 2 meals for £7.99 and then to the comedy club where we won free tickets a few months ago, so super cheap night out....I think I'm rubbing off on OH :rotfl:
The landlord made a few noises about having to redecorate due to the mould but I quickly shut that down with the lack of air vents, no ventilation and even having 3 windows open daily was making no difference. He said the place was nice and clean, and thanked me for leaving the curtains (have fitted blinds in the new house so no need for them, and quite frankly forgot to take them down...oops!)
BUT
Got the deposit back in full!! and a box of chocolate biscuits as a thanks for being a great tenant for the last 3 years. Shocked is an understatement...slightly took the shine off when we told me he'd brought his girlfriend round last month and had a nose through the cupboards...he commented on my homemade wine which he wouldn't have known about without going through cupboards. Was not entirely impressed with that one, but at least I never have to worry about him rifling through my drawers and cupboard again:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)
