Thank you all for your congratulations
Sorry for the slight over-excitement and very big pink lettering then :rotfl: I was starting to think it was never going to happen!
Get the keys tomorrow - I still can't quite believe it - I have to say a massive thanks to ccl and Bob, I distinctly remember being very down about my debt vs chances of a mortgage and when I posted on here you both encouraged me to go for it and see what happened...and now I'm about to become a homeowner!
Got quite emotional about it all this morning, it's something I didn't think was possible but here we are, and I'm still debt busting as much as I can. My original aim was to get under 20k but Christmas, and I will actually be under 19k by the end of November, so very pleased...just need to work out a way to get under 18.5k before January and I'll be even happier:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

Well today is completion day :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j
Just waiting for a call this afternoon to say we can go and get the keys, so very excited! Barely slept last night as a result but it still doesn't feel real, roll on key collection!
My boss has let me borrow a work van for the weekend, and OH is also borrowing a van from work - my Dad and his friend are coming to help so I hope that's enough to get us moved by midday on Sunday so I can get started on making the old house presentable as best I can with all the mould, plaster cracking and carpets that don't fit the rooms :rotfl:
Our neighbours warned me last night to expect a fight when it comes to getting deposit back if previous tenants are anything to go by, which wasn't really what I wanted to hearnot going to let it get to me today though, far too many good things going on :T

Aww, that's kind of you to say
But as Bob said - it's your hard work and tenacity that got you there. I'm thrilled to bits for you and hope you enjoy having your own place as much as I do.Not giving up

Thank you both! I am sitting in my lovely cosy living room next to the cast iron fireplace and I'm so very happy!
It's been a hectic and tiring few days, and we are nowhere near done but it's starting to sink in....partly because OH blocked the toilet yesterday and I realised we would have to pay a plumber rather than call a landlord :rotfl:
There are a lot of things that we didn't notice about the house during the viewings - we had a leak on Thursday night (as there was a bit of a bodge job on the under sink plumbing) one of the kitchen cupboards has come away from the wall and falls over if you brush past it, another one has been installed too close to another so you can't open the door fully....various bits and pieces that make the kitchen top of our list of things to do!
On another note, I have been on the hunt for a sideboard (as there isn't a lot of storage space) and got a bargain on facebook today - an oak sideboard the perfect size for £35
Anyway, I'm off to make dinner before I fall asleep!:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

Seriously Kirsty - when we moved in here I didn't even notice that there were no radiators downstairs. I was so in love with the place I just didn't notice it :rotfl: Or the fact that even though it looked like double glazing, it's not. 11 years later and we have the radiators downstairs now but still struggling with badly fitting single glazed doors and windows. But it's your very own place, and you will love it in spite of its faults.
Incidentally - this may sound a bit daft - but I have an unravelled wire coathanger that I have used for all sorts of blocked stuff, including toilets, sinks, washing machine and even the hoover. It's my secret weapon, and has not let me down yet with a blockage... :rotfl:Not giving up

ccl that did make me chuckle!
I already love it, it feels so cosy and homely, if a little crowded with boxes at the moment! The only fly in the ointment is the kitchen - it's absolutely awful. Everytime I open the door I find something else wrong or that doesn't work! The latest was when I went to get a spoon earlier and realised the only drawer in the kitchen is blocked by a wall, so only opens halfway....I don't know how the vendor dealt with it for years! Argh!!
Went and bought the paint for the bathroom earlier, OH doesn't know so he may not be happy when he gets home :rotfl::j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)
