Thanks Bob, I'm just worried he will try and keep the deposit even though I've kept the house as well as I can in the past 3 years with him doing no repairs (i even had a hole in my ceiling for months, went without a toilet for a week and without an oven for 2 weeks as he wouldn't pay a tradesman to replace and was away himself!)

Ah well almost time to leave! I've been eyeing up a shabby chic dressing table for days on eBay that I loved but can't afford....got home tonight and OH has bought it for me as an early xmas present :happyhear

so we are almost packed :j A few small things to go, and the normal stuff that we will need until the move like plates, cutlery, cookware but mostly sorted!

As suspected Landlord hasn't been round, got to go and collect our euros now so I'm sure he will have been by the time we get back and had a good nose round :( Spent until after midnight last night trying to scrub the mould off the walls but two of the rooms wouldn't even come off with the mould and mildew remover....stubborn little blighters!

Looking forward to our few days away, but feel quite anxious about not making my PADs, which is silly - I just feel like it has made such a difference to my mindset that I'm worried about getting out of the habit. Have made a larger than normal for this time of the month PAD to make up for it so hopefully that will ease my worries.

I've got a little emergency money on a prepaid CC which I'd completely forgotten about (was a cashback incentive) and is almost the same amount as the vanquis card has left on it (well, about £70 off)....trying to be good and resist but I'm sure I will give in next week, I'm just desperate to see that one gone :o

Have a lovely bonfire night/weekend everyone, and I'll be back on Monday

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Kirsty he must legally hold your deposit in the tenancy scheme. Does he? If yes then you can apply for its return the same as he can. Either of you should be able to instigate that.

The deposit isn't protected Bob, it says it is in the tenancy agreement but I've checked with DPS (who it says it is registered with) and the other 2 but no sign of it, and landlord ignores my requests for certificate. He did indeed turn up on Thursday after we had left for an appointment then the airport, has been moving stuff again (moved a chest of drawers in my bedroom to access one of the walls which has mould/damp on, amongst other things)

I will be so glad to be out of here!

Dublin was absolutely amazing, I was gutted to come home! Had rather a lot of guinness but still came home with some euros which will be going off the vanquis card once we can get them changed :) Partly had some leftover money as OH and I planned to go out on Friday, nipped back to the hotel to get changed, sat on the bed and both woke up at 1.30am....so that was one night of money saved :rotfl:

So I woke up this morning full of determination to be vanquis-free by completion day (Thursday) checked my paypal and have had some of my ebay sales monies become available....quickly withdrawn....

PAID THE BALANCE ON MY VANQUIS!!!!

I now officially only have 2 CC and a loan left to pay....still a long way to go but such a long way already. So pleased! I'm now well on my way to hitting my 18.5k by Christmas. The relief was immediate - getting the vanquis card was, for me, the start of the downward spiral into high interest rates and paying off more interest than I could ever manage to pay off the balance.

Woo hoo :j:T:j:T:j:T That's brilliant Kirsty, well done.

Sorry to hear your landlord is a bit frustrating. Still, you're nearly out of there!

    Thanks ccl and Orange Ena!

So very happy about the vanquis but had a major strop last night as the solicitors didn't exchange yesterday which could threaten our completion date....they have said not but can't promise as it means the funds will have to be drawn down super quickly from the bank, who normally require 3 full days

Because I was in such a foul mood about that I sent OH to the shop to get me chocolate - therefore wrecking my budget and my diet :o feeling better this morning - or I will do when I hear we have actually exchanged :)

It's a bit gutting to have got through my smaller balances and now be faced with ones that still look a bit like I'm never going to get them paid, but I'm keeping positive....I know I've done all I can so far and I just need to carry on that way. Onwards and Upwards!
