Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
How lovely! That is such a milestone. It's the teeny little things that make you go 'awwww' that make everything else worthwhile.

It was lovely Bob, She giggled constantly for about 5 minutes but wouldn't give in and do it again. Luckily we got it on video to show her daddy as he will be gutted to have missed it.

Times like these make me even more determined to be DF - I want to see those firsts with my own baby :)

We had friends round for dinner yesterday - roast chicken with leftovers for sandwiches today :) was lovely but OH very grumpy as he felt like his weekend was overtaken with visitors.... I mentioned that our life has been overtaken by his friend and that went down like a lead balloon :o

I'm getting a bit impatient to see the 80% mark, but think that will have to wait until payday - no chance of anything other than my budgeted PADs for the rest of this week, I didn't leave the house really this weekend but am still broke :(

Not much going on with me at the moment really, just plodding on! I want to make more of an effort to be accountable to my diary though, so will keep updating :)

I am supposed to be losing weight at the moment, but I got bitten by the baking bug on Sunday and keep nibbling :o I made cheese scones, chocolate fudge cake and choc chip shortbread.... I need better willpower or not to bake anymore :rotfl:

Made another sneaky mortgage OP to round down the balance....will not be telling OH until he notices :o It's a killer knowing that 2/3 of every monthly payment is going on interest, especially as I am not paying interest of my CCs at the moment. It's food for thought, but I hate the debt more than the mortgage - I've certainly got more to show for the mortgage!

OH and I are still having relate counselling and there is some concern by our counsellor that we are using it as a crutch now. In her opinion she has given us all the tools and we can't see her forever. Certainly not when it costs a pretty penny which could go to mortgage overpayments instead. We have another session next Monday and then I think we will be on our own. I find it quite scary as it is a safe place for me to raise concerns and for us to talk out any niggles we each have. I know we should be able to do that without a middle man but we aren't so good at that part :o

Have managed to put off car discussion a little longer, am hoping for it to be a lot longer in reality

Spoke to MIL last night properly for the first time since her op (which was last Tuesday) and she is very upbeat, but very sore. She had a drain in for the first few days and the district nurse is coming everyday to change her bandages but she is still trying not to worry us too much so we aren't too aware of what is going on.
OH is weirded out at the thought of asking his mam about her boobs! I have managed to get out of her that it was a mastectomy rather than a lumpectomy, but that's as far as she is willing to go with details at the moment. I know she has an appointment next week with her Doctor so hoping for more news then. Certainly puts things into perspective.

We had a lovely night last night though - We had an aldi lasagne and garlic bread and cleaned the kitchen - who said romance was dead :rotfl:
We do Valentines on a different day to normal, because it makes OH feel better that he isn't being roped into it by card companies and shops, so instead we are having our Valentines night on Saturday, when the cards have all been reduced :rotfl:

We are going to a little town on the river on Saturday for afternoon tea and then OH is cooking a surprise dinner. I can't wait :) Instead of buying a present I have taken an old pack of cards and printed off slips of paper slightly smaller than card size with 52 reasons I love him written on, which I've stuck to the playing cards and put a keyring through the corner of the cards - like a little flip book of love.... cheesy but cheap and I'd love it so I hope he does too :)

Definitely a :money: decision!! Also means we can have a bottle of wine we got for xmas with no wprries about work the next day :)

I'll have to bear in mind the advent calendar tip in Dec, never thought about it! Although that's probably because my mom still buys ours :o

  • Pleased to hear that your mil is ok Kirsty. Hope that she continues to improve...
I can completely understand about the Relate sessions. Is it worth you both arranging a certain time every week where you go out for a coffee and a chat? And have the same rules as you do at the counselling session? Apologies if this doesn't make any sense. I know in my head what I mean but I can't seem to say it.
