Lovely to see you posting Diamonds. I really hope the scan results for DS are all clear. Is there a particular time of day when he gets a bit "starey", e.g. when he's really tired?
You have made wonderful inroads in your mortgage. Like you, we essentially go without much in the way of savings to make the MF mission a success, which is risky but has always felt the right way for us to do things.
Keep posting, we enjoy your updates xMFW

Hi ATB et al,
I hope you are well, I love how you are thinking of having the letter and cheque ready for your OP in Jan 16. Hmm mean people who are plenty envious I think when it comes to your neighbor.
I've recently learnt about the difference of envy and jealously, apparently myself and DH are surrounded by envious people but we are learning to put our defenses up to protect ourselves and the mini-diamonds.
We are on track for our OP this month hopefully which is so surprising as I've been spending spending and spending recently or thats what it feels like.
DS 2nd birthday on Thursday and we are planning on a visit to santas grotto (already pre-paid and booked and going out for dinner (hopefully using tesco clubcard vouchers ) so very MSE.
Our christmas break doesn't cover the cost of christmas eve dinner or christmas day dinner ( we have already booked christmas day lunch) but I'm sure the children will be hungry again after their christmas lunch. I must remember to set aside ££ to cover these meals.
I am so excited, its my favorite time of year...although I suspect drama from family, which will try and put a dampener on this..

Hi all,
Quick update-
the Good:
£30 panelbase payment used as OP this morning.
The bad:
Just booked another module for Msc on my Credit card- £2034. Waited until today as payment on CC is due 1st Feb 16, if I'd done it yesterday I'd have to pay it on 1st January 16, so saved myself 4 weeks :T1.7.15: £157,469.64, 10.02.16: £93,434.74

Hi LIL
I finally made an OP of £3500 this morning which is all my business account money. Account can now close the company and account.
That means our balance is £102,713.64. Thats £2713.64 of our challenge to get below £100k by 31 Dec 15 left.
With the majority of our savings now thrown into OP there isnt much left to get to our target by 31st Dec but we have done better than i was hoping for this year. Especially with changing our spending/budgeting habits. We still have one more pay day before the end of the year but with big cc bills we won't be doing much of our usual OP this month (i was expecting it to be a spendy month though).
Excited for what 2016 will bring and will definitely be below £100k in 2016.
Need to update the signature to reflect the new balance.
We have paid off £54756 since July and a bit more in total since January
I have joined FIT-3 take 4, so hopefully we will be MF in 3 years time

Thanks all,
Yep lucky just got paid today and did the money shuffle. Even with today's £830 OP we are still at £101,883.64. So won't reach the target. Was feeling pretty optimistic until we noticed some yellowing on the out side of our property. It looks like a large patch of damp. Really gutted as I know from doing the rest of the house damp remedial work costs thousands.
I think the new year will see us focusing on saving rather than OPing. No holiday in 2016 for the diamonds either.
That's 2016 but we still have the best of 2015 to come...Christmas and family time with the mini-diamonds and DH1.7.15: £157,469.64, 10.02.16: £93,434.74

Happy new year everyone. Its been a chilled out few days but back to work today.
I have a few updates:- First OP of 2016 made which takes us into 5 figures- signature updated
- Joined MFW 2016 again with a target of £24000
- Joined MFiT-T4 (#34) - Hoping to pay off remaining mortgage by December 2018
- Looked at spending again and seriously need to cut out some expenditure to meet target
- Need to build savings back up but no idea how to do this whilst trying to achieve MF goals
Also saw some where about saving £1 in first week of year and then £2 in second and £3 in third etc until the end of the year. Also going try and do this from my spends (£115 a month). It should be easy in the first few weeks but not sure where i'll find a spare £30+ a week from lol
Also worked out for every £1000 we OP from now drops our balance by 1% and every £100 by 0.1%...which is very motivating.
Lets make this year a good one xx1.7.15: £157,469.64, 10.02.16: £93,434.74

Hello Diamondsonly,
Happy New Year to you. Well done on the first overpayment of the year. I am also hoping to pay off the mortgage by December 2018. Good Luck with your plans and I look forward to keeping up with your updates along the way.
