  • Hi ATB.. All good here. Slightly sleep deprived, DS had a lengthy night terror last night, lasted 20+ minutes and we weren't sure he was having another seizure.. luckily just a night terror but wow was he loud lol
I've just read your post about no news on the house. Fingers crossed for you hun xx

I have been a bit moody with DH, I think the reality of putting the mini diamonds through independent school has hit and it really will mean there will not really be alot of cash spare for the nice holidays were are used to or the bigger forever house i've dreamt of... but hey ho we are adults and i guess part of growing up means making though choices :rotfl:

How are things with you otherwise? When does DS reduce nursery days? Hopefully he is over his challenging phase and is being a darling for you xx

I've been mortgage free since 1989! It's great, and a fantastic goal to achieve.

Before I was mortgage free I wanted a Morgan Plus 8.

Strangely as soon as I was mortgage free I didn't want one. I think what happens is that you achieve your main aim, and then you sit back and think to yourself that you've arrived at freedom. Now wanting something as trivial as a car you say to yourself, so what, or whatever. It just seems to be a pointless piece of stuff that can only cause you grief in the long term. On the other hand, freedom from the 'death grip' aka mortgage means you needn't worry about your job, deadlines, and so on.

Just enjoy life and get on with it, a car isn't going to help.

    Cheers fj
  • Thanks SJ, I hope you enjoyed the evening out. Hows mrs SJ feeling?

We won't make the Extra OP this month as planned which is disappointing but I have done the following or plan to do this year:
    • Unsubscribed from all my retail emails that just send me tempting but unneeded offers on a daily basis
    • Will attempt lunches from home for the whole month- So far have managed bring lunch from home all week
    • Try and save £75/£115 monthly spends from February- Next week i will hopefully get massively delayed cut & colour. Although I feel really guilty about the spend but my hair looks awful since the operation as I still haven't been seen by my surgeon so have to wash it very carefully
    • Cut back on eating out
    • Cancel our Amazon prime membership in April unless I qualify for student rate
    • Start selling old clothes on ebay in June once coursework are handed in
    • Go until May or June without buying myself any new clothes, not sure if I'll do it as I have a few business trips coming up in April/May that I need to look smart for
    • Set up Halifax saver for children on Tuesday and then have a SO so fixed amount gets paid in each month
    • Use our car less at weekends

  • I all,

I'm so not ready for this week to commence. Lots to do at work.

On money news saved £13 this week by cutting DD hair myself this weekend. It was meant to be a t little trim but wuiith her fidgeting and me trying to get it even its now almost bob like and can just about get 2 ponytails...and its still wonky:eek:

bless DD though she was ok with it, although did say to me, "mumma I only wanted a little trim"

I will get DH to trim DS's hair later in the week x

  • So yesterday was a spendy spendy day:
    • new prescription glasses
    • Subway lunch
    • Prescription meds x2
    • £13 train fares
    • Nandos dinner with DH as we didn't finish a hospital appointment in london until Gone 6pm

And today even more spendy day, car broke down on way to work so Diagnostics booked at garage for friday morning but it appears gearbox issue- might be a very expensive January for the Diamonds.. I am ear marking £1000 in my head no idea what it will actually cost though

only positive- Halifax regular savers set up for the kids, very pleased

Hi Diamond - thanks for keeping such an amazing diary! I have been reading through it in awe and have been most inspired by how much you have achieved!

Keep it up and keep smiling! Spendy days have to happen, but just look at the amazing progress you have made so far!

Thanks McTaggus your post has made me smile briefly in what has been a stressful work day. I am no longer allowed to work from home in situations like this week when my car has broken down. its really unfair and not flexible at all xx

upset at the handling of the situation. Was sent an abrupt email from the boss to inform me of this x
