Great OP. how is your recovery going?
    June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!
  • Hi Cath I've developed a cold (probably caught from the minidiamonds) which is the worst thing for the recovery. Something to do with sneezing and the pressure in the ear. So I'm taking even more care. I only OP £1k yesterday will do the remainder tomorrow.
Plus I text my boss (the MD of the company) that I'll be off for 3 instead of 2 weeks and she hasn't replied even though it's been nearly a week since I sent it. I suspect she's not happy, I don't see myself passing my 6month probation in December. Just a feeling I have considering the bosses lack of response.

  • Thanks LIL I will do that first thing in the morning and I'll get my DH to pick up my laptop from the office too maybe. IT were going to do some updates whilst I'm off but the PA text to say it's done.

Also just made an OP of £5700 so balance is now £130000 instead of the £135000 I was aiming at. New goal to get down to £125k by end of year xx

  • Diamonds that is an incredible OP, well done you! :)

With regards to your boss, that is highly unprofessional of her to not respond. It really maddens me that people in management can be cross with someone for being unwell and needing to recover. How about emailing HR and cc-ing your boss in? That way you have a paper trail xx

  • Hi ATB, sorry for the delay in replying DS who's exhibiting terrible two tantrums hijacked the iPad lol.

We don't have a HR function for our UK office so I emailed both my uk and US boss cc'ing in the PA. No reply yet but I did get out of office from uk MD. She also forwarded me an email after all I'd emailed so she's checking emails.

I've contracted for so long I didn't expect permanent employers to be this in flexible. Possibly not the job for me, although I love it.

On a brighter, more relevant note the IFA called last night saying he'd evaluated our finances and recommended paying a chunk off the mortgage using the money given to the kids and savings.

He also said it's not worth us using a broker or remortaging as we paying off the mortgage quicker, so DH and I won't remortgage and will stay on the 2.79% lifetime tracker.

Have a great day all xx

Great news about the IFA call, you'll be in the 5 figures in no time at this rate! xx

  • So post IFA call we have made a couple of OP and Balance now £120k :o Not sure how OP will go between now and the new year, with Christmas, both minidiamonds birthdays and all our nieces and nephews birthdays in that time too.

Going to try our hardest to get to £99k. DH and I have promised each other no gifts for each other this year. We always end buying each other something small so let's see. DD turns 4 in 2 weeks so we need to pick up a present and plan a nice family day out instead of a party.

I would defiantly buy each other something small :]

Nice to see how determined you are to hunt that 99k down tho do you know a rough date when this could be achievable ?
