  • Hi Cath, ATB and Newbie, thanks for your posts. Its been a manic week. DS has now got a throat & ear infection not linked to the seizure but yday he feel over and got a blood nose. My mum thinks he's been falling over a lot recently so its another thing we are keeping an eye on.

On money news we have £1350 left this month for OP and another £100 back from nursery for deposit refund as DD has now left.

We are looking into getting a pediatric neurologist appointment privately so we can get a quick diagnosis and tests done. One of the tests alone is £580 so we wont make an OP this month in case we need it for consultant fees, tests etc. I love love love the NHS but it is sadly stretched to the limit already.

    anyway back to studying xx

  • Hi all,

We haven't managed to get a paediatric neurologists appointment. So I have just made an OP of £1370 from Septembers savings.
I've lost track of our current balance so will call mortgage company tonight. Good to have upto date figures before IFA appointment this week.

Sorry to hear about your little one, I hope you manage to get an appointment soon so that you can get everything checked out.
  • Oh Diamonds, I'm so sorry to hear about your little boy. I know how terrifying these things can be. I also know that when these things happen, suddenly things like overpayments seem so unimportant and you have bigger priorities. Hope you get an appointment booked in soon x

Does anyone have a SOA in excel format?

    Thanks
  • Hi Diamonds,

How has DS been? I hope you're ok. Let us know how you get on with the IFA appointment. Best wishes, ATB xx

  • Hi all,

So we had our first meeting with the IFA and its was good. He was initially skeptical about using using savings to pay off a chunk of the mortgage but once we'd gone the the numbers he definitely agrees that we should use some savings to pay a chunk off and continue with our monthly OP of about £1500.

    His reasons:
    • We have other savings/ISAs available if cash is needed
    • We are out of ERC with current mortgage to great time to pay off big amount before we fix again
    • Pay off as much as possible before we starts paying full school fees in September 2016

He did emphasis quite heavily the need to have accessible cash reserves in case of emergencies etc which is all MSE advise anyway.

I feel focused and relieved that we have been doing the right thing for us by hammering down our mortgage.

IFA will evaluate how much we should use as a big chunk payment from our savings but its all systems go.

    Diamonds xx

lol you convinced him, not the other way round.... you should ask for his commission!
  • Hi Diamonds, I'm pleased that the meeting went well & the plan sounds very sensible. You'll be MF in no time at this rate!

Have a lovely weekend, hope the mini diamonds are well xx
