If you ring 0845 609 6218 it puts you straight through to the refer a friend/ switching dept. This was the best number for me to get any refer a friend matters resolved. They can check their spread sheet.

I did ask for the current account switching department straight away.
Not heard anything back. Will try again although I really begrudge using these 0845 numbers.

On 23 July 2015, the FCA published regulations requiring financial services to use 01, 02, 03 or 080 numbers. The new rules come into force on 26 October 2015.

Most banks have changed their 0845 lines over to the matching 0345 number. Insurance companies have some catching up to do.

Wherever you see an 084 or 087 number advertised, try calling the matching 034 or 037 number. If it works, it will be a cheaper call. If it doesn't, there's no charge for trying.

Now if you really want to save money why not send a complaint through online and the complaints team will sort out for you and no doubt will offer a goodwill payment of say £25.00 if the promised payment in late being paid.

I am all for saving money but with regards to making a 5 minute call via an 0845 number is not going to cost the earth.

Thanks for the tip Mable, I didn't think of this, and have just messaged.

If nothing comes of that, I will try Ian011's suggestion, and last resort I will use the dreaded 0845

A five minute call to an 0845 number currently costs up to £2.60, with the organisation being called and their telecoms provider jointly benefitting by up to 35p.

A call to the equivalent 0345 number would be inclusive for most people.

Are you offering to make the call for fuzzgun19? If not, I fail to the see relevance of what it would cost you. What it would cost the person who actually makes the call is what is important.

And I'm sure fuzzgun19 will appreciate you taking the trouble to post that. Clearly it's a lot more helpful than a terse three word response, "not for me".
