Anyone else having probs with 1899 & 18185 - I get a message saying I've reached the maximum no. of calls per day, but I've made 1 call with 1899 and none with 18185

Edited to add: Well 8 hours later it's sorted itself out - on both services - very odd
• The alternative number 18185 have on their site still seems to work but I guess it's more expensive across the board.

For UK calls it's :
5p connection + 1p per minute

I have been using Primus (now Fuel Broadband) for some years and have had no problems using 18185 with them. Their line rental has gone up and I am in the course of switching to the Post Office who (though not as cheap as Direct Telecom) allow 18185. I have now had a phone call from the Post Office support (in response to a web query sent 3 weeks ago) saying I can not use 18185. Has anyone direct experience of using 18185 with the Post Office (not via the 0800 route)? I note the T&C ban pre carrier selection but make no reference to override providers.
• I think it may depend on if you take broadband from postoffice. If you take broadband they move you to talktalk LLU platform and from what I read 18185 wont work. However if you only have phone with postoffice and the line stays on the BT wholesale network and I think 18185 will work but I've not seen that confirmed anywhere.

If your taking their Talk Talk rebranded broadband which is delivered by llu you can no longer use 18185 indirectly.

I am on primus line rental and aol broadband. BB has just gone up to £15.31 from £10.31 and the line rental is £7 and over ride18866 works.
Now looking at a BB with LR package from primus of £15pm all in for 12months and then £19pm after. Asked the sales assistant about over ride numbers and they were very confused.
Spoke to a senior saleswoman who said that over rides only work on line rental only, combine the rental and BB and the over rides get blocked.

Can anyone recommend a cheap unlimited BB only deal?

Plus Net have good customer service and charge £12.49 a month for BB alone. You'll get much cheaper if you combine phone and BB but will then lose override providers. Whoever you use quality is dependent on the BT or TalkTalk setup at your exchange and the link to your home.

18185 now class 03 numbers the same as 01 and 02 numbers, ie UK Fixed, so the cost is 0p per minute with a connection charge of 5p, if you are using the 18185 prefix not the freephone number.

Hi,
Does anyone here know if Scottish Southern Electric (SSE) allow indirect access codes like 18185 on their telephone service ? Just their simple service with ADSL broadband upto 8Mbit as I am on a rural exchange with only BT Openreach providing the equipment.

Thanks,
Andy
