Ah, I'm with you now.
I signed up for my 18185 account via their website.... it doesn't always occur to me to phone companies.0 -
Hi, we've been with Plusnet for a few years now, just to give you an extra confirmation that 18185 has always worked (direct - just dial 18185 followed by the number), and continues to do so.0

Hi, I've been a subscriber to 18185 for several years but unsubscribed and closed my account last week. However, every time I try to make a call on my landline I now get a message from 18185 saying that the phone number I am ringing from is not registered with them and I need to go to their website to do so. It then disconnects me and if I try to re-dial the number I want I just get the 18185 recorded message again. I have emailed 18185 but with no reply/result so far.
Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, how did you resolve it?
Thanks in advance for any help.0 -
It sounds like you have set your landline phone up to dial the 18185 prefix before each call automatically.0
-
Oh maybe I did (although I have no recollection of doing so!) Do you know how I can reverse it? Thank you.0

If you have a plug-in box that prefixes the numbers you dial with 18185 then simply unplug that box.
If you have stored numbers on your phone with 18185 at the beginning, edit each entry to remove those digits.0 -
I found an old Orchid box with the phone line plugged into it; took it out and normal service has been resumed. Thank you both for answering.0

Get the Orchid box on eBay. You should get a few quid for it as I believe they are quite sought after."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Got my bill today, first bill for some time as I used TalkTalk for years, 18185 invoice says total £1.16 which is correct.
It also says at the bottom of the invoice: advertised tariffs include VAT.
My bill is for £1.79 + VAT 0.36 =£2.15
I don't understand why the amount difference and why they are adding vat to my bill. There doesn't seem to be a way of contacting customer services, so I will give them one more month and is the difference persists I will find another company.0 -

Home telephone service is subject to VAT at 20%. All phone companies add this to your bill.
18185 don't invoice under a certain sum. You may have had previous calls that have accumulated and have just been included."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0
