I'm dialling 18185 but getting unobtainable - what's the actual number you dial to get to the 1.5p a minute calls?

Have you registered for an account ???:D

EDIT -Who is your phone rental with? Many telecom providers disallow the likes of 18185.

Virgin don't allow the use of "18185" -you have to use the 08xx route.
  • Just gone up from 3p to 11p/minute! No customer service to ask why, or complain to, as far as I can see.
  • They can charge what they like. If they get uncompetitive which it looks like they are, people will simply stop using them.

By the way, if you use the freephone 0808 number, a call to a South Africa landline is 8p a minute.
  • Yeah, much more likely to try skype first now.

Given that there seems to be gradually increasing dissatisfaction with 18185 rates creeping slowly upwards, I thought I might remind folks of my posts on here from May 2016 and earlier

I switched to a VoIP provider when 18185 put call charges up last year.

Since then spending is about a sixth of what it was before, now heading for about £5 a year instead of about £30

The main phone is a cordless extension and base unit which does both landline and VoIP calls, bought secondhand 3 or 4 years ago for about £30. Some mobiles can also use VoIP, and I have some free calls there.

I use 18185 and log in with cyst no and phone number. I am thinking of changing phone provider and although I would like to keep the same number was told it is not always possible. Anybody knows what happens to the account with a new phone number? It seems I will not be able to log in. Thanks

If necessary you simply add your new number to your 18185 account. You can add many numbers to your account.
