  • Just made a 30 minute call to Sky using 18185 from a landline - charged 49p which equates to 1.5p/minute plus 4p connection charge ?
Also no cost message when the call connects.

Within your online account, in the telephone numbers section, you can tick a box to switch the message on and off for each of your phone numbers.

I find that - perhaps when the called party answers immediately - you don't hear the initial message, even if it is enabled.

    Anyone else ?

Yesterday they finally updated their website (so have 1899).

If you use the 18185 prefix you are charged 1.5ppm

    Use the 0808 number it's 2ppm (up from 1ppm)

In both cases you are charged a connection fee of 4p, not the advertised 5p.

Yes, same here if the call is answered promptly.

do you have to register to dial 18185?
I'm suddenly getting charged 2p a minute after dialling 08081

This means that altho still quite cheap my bill has doubled - is there still a way to get charged 1.5 per minute?

If you're using either number I think you're registered already.

Calling a UK landline is now cheaper using the 18185 prefix from a landline (1.5p per minute) than using the freephone number from a mobile (or from a landline).
  • As I get mobile calls to land lines for 3p a minute on my pay as you go sim from Three I have to guess how long my call will be very short calls are cheaper on my mobile. If I think it will be a 3 minute call or more I use 18185 otherwise my mobile. I have found that with caller ID on phones sometimes the 18185 calls can show as international calls and some people don't answer them.

I'm dialling 18185 but getting unobtainable - what's the actual number you dial to get to the 1.5p a minute calls?

You dial 18185 directly followed by the number you want to call. Don't pause in between.
