Cheap calls though 18185 - experiences please?

Hi there Heinz,
Just new to this forum here and I have a question which I cannot get answered anywhere on the internet. I use 18185 for all my landline calls (day and night) and just pay Origin for the line rental and broadband service. My question is this, can I still use the 141 option (before inputting 18185 and then the number I am calling) to prevent my phone number from being displayed to the recipient of my call?
Thanks Heinz and hope you can provide me with some solutions here.

. 18185 use various carriers they dont always present numbers and sometimes its presented as an intl call.
Have you not got a mobile number you can ring from your landline so you can test it yourself to see what normally happens.0 -
According to 18185's website the charge for UK landlines is 1.2p per min, however, for quite a while now the message I get prior to a call being connected states 1.3p per min. MSE's cheap line rental page also quotes 1.2p per min for 18185.
Is anyone else experiencing a different message from that which is quoted on 18185's website, or does anyone have an idea why this is happening?0 -
No idea about the 1.2p/1.3p discrepancy, but if you use their 0808 number you only pay 1p a minute.0

Is this the number your mean, 0808 1 703 703. Do I just dial that instead of 18185 before dialling the contact number to which I want to connect?0 -

As soon as you dial it, you get a message saying "Welcome, please dial the number you require followed by the hash key."
Just reading 18185 and it says the 0808 number's for people who are non-BT landline customers. As I'm a BT customer (probably soon to change that) can I still use the 0808 number or do I need to carry on with the 18185 prefix instead. I have to say it is really annoying me that the pre-connection message keeps saying 1.3p a minute (instead of 1.2p), it's not the charge difference (as it is obviously insignificant), it's the principal.0 -

Anyone who is registered with 18185 can use the 0808 number. Until a few months ago, it was nearly always more expensive to use than dialling 18185. But now, I find more often than not, it is cheaper than using 18185. Calling a Spanish landline eg is only 1p a minute whilst using the 0808 number, half the price of dialling 18185.0 -
I have tried 18185 and found it to be awful.
I haven cancelled my account. If I dialled 18185 from my BT phone and the number I wanted to call in Malta I get the message that the phone is no longer accepting that call.
I tried using the free phone number 08081703703 and got through to the number I wanted to call - after 4 (four) rings the automated message cuts in and says no one is answering and then cuts the call off - 4 rings is hardly enough for anyone to answer a phone let alone an elderly person.
I tried reporting this as a fault - the form page kept rejecting my send command saying the telephone number was incorrect - but did not say which one - it would also automatically change the country I want to call to: Malta to the UK. I tried putting the telephone numbers in with and without a leading 0 - still the same problem - I gave up.
Trying to find a way to contact them is extremely difficult - presumably on purpose.
I will not use your service again and would advise other no to also.0 -
sorry if asking this here is not the correct place but here goes.
i have used 18185 for quite a long time on my landline and when i registered, added my mobile number too. i am with Three on PAYG and cant use 18185. is it because of being on PAYG, or being with Three or am i not dialing correctly? i want to call the USA, so do i dial 18185 001 then the rest of the number or do i dial something different?0
