Mattel has recalled millions of toys

At the end of the day parents have to decide about safety in their home for their children and also the children who come into our homes. We have lots of friends with children all ages and whenever they visit you can guarantee the kids end up in my daughter's bedroom. Some kids like to get everything out! I don't want to be responsible for anything happening to someone elses child. I know mine is sensible enough to know not to swallow magnets etc.

I don't think I'm greedy - Polly Pocket has cost me a fortune especially as my DD's birthday is in December too. When I went to Boots I got the money back that I'd paid for these toys, one at it's normal price and one at the sale price. These toys were 8 month's old and gifts - why shouldn't she have a refund for a recalled product? She was able to then choose her own alternative and was actually happy! Now we have to decide what to do with the other 4 items of Polly Pocket (all under 12 month's old and all cherished Birthday or Christmas presents). Deanos I didn't realise you only had to send back the magnetic bits, the two I returned to Boots were complete and took us ages to sort out. The letter I have from Mattel doesn't say just magnets? Mine says package your recalled toy? If it was just the magnets then she might be happier.

If sending to Matell you only have to sent the magnetic bits back , thats what i have been advised as i said i didnt know what belongs to each set, i asked 3 times and they said this was fine.

The sets i took back to Boots were new and unopened.

Another load of toys have been recalled, makes you wonder is there anything safe, what about tools and such like from Poundshops

the reason i returned the whole sets was because without the magnetic clothes the set was useless eg, house of style she cant go up a lift and magically change without magnetic clothes! nor can she go to salon and have hair done magically without magnetic wigs so please bear this in mind i thought it was unfair to expect my three and five year old not to be frustrated by this!! rubber clothes wouldnt work on the lift etc! also the limoscene which we had had a loose looking magnet in the actual car! so i would not keep that either ! anyway i have sent them back and asked for vouchers they only do toymaster but at least i can choose something else there with the girls that is worth the money i paid out for the toys because they have got a few years left out of polly pocket yet being only 3 and 5 she is a real star in our house!

All you have to do is get replacement clothes with magnets on as the new ones are fine , you can buy small sets and they are in the replacement brocure, or about £3-£4 in the shops;)

i sent all my polly bits back last week and on the replacement form write that we would appreiciate vouchers more. i phoned them up just now and they said that they have sent me £90 mattel/ fisher price vouchers that can be used at toy master or youngsters

Did they say they had already sent vouchers out before you asked ??

Ive not received anything yet and vouchers would be better, i did order toys.

yeah i think o only got vouchers because i wrote in on the form. she said they should be with me shortly. i suppose they'd rather get rid of old stock that let you have the vouchers . ring them up and say that you would now prefer vouchers, after all if they have not despatched you toy yet then your well within your rights

Just phoned and asked for vouchers , they say it may be too late as toys may have been despatched already , if toys arrive they will collect and send vouchers instead :beer:
