    Thanks balletshoes.

On a seperate note, looking back over older posts, has anyone noticed a trend in which months tend to be the worst for closures of rides/shows/restaurants?

definitely January to March each year - thats when they do major refurbs and thats when you're most likely to see green boarding up around the parks as they redecorate etc.
  • phew at the mo, looks like the snow will avoid us, please.....

Jut got back from three days in Disneyland Paris

    1) The kids loved it

    2) I never knew what cold was, until I went here

    3) When you are in a hurry, the French rail system is confusing, however much you prepare

    4) The English of the French puts my French to shame

    5) Lots of attractions were closed in Feb - not happy

    6) The cold caused more to break down - not happy

    7) Early access to the park is no longer in place on a Tuesday, so we only got the benefit of staying on site for 2 out of the 3 days. And on day 3, most of the rides were closed as it was cold.

    8) Food is extortionate

But - on day 2 as we went into Walt Disney Studios for the day, we were pulled aside and offered something called 'Family Star'. Dunno what we did to get picked - maybe just being the first family in - but this was free, and got us:

    - Fastpass entry to any rides (bar tower of Terror)
    - 20% off food
    - 10% off in the shops
    - A special place to watch the parade
    - Special seating at any of the attractions
    - A free family portrait

My girls loved this, and it was fab of them to do this. So, whilst we do have a lot of grumbled (i.e. Queueing for 30 mins for space mountain only to be told it was closing...) this was a lovely thing to have happen to us.

Isn't it bloody horrendous?? I held my camera up with a gloveless hand for a couple of minutes to film a parade & I swear to god I couldn't feel my hand for an hour!

    5) Lots of attractions were closed in Feb - not happy

We knew a lot was closed, but still its not nice.

    6) The cold caused more to break down - not happy

I think the only ride closed due to the cold was Dumbo for us luckily.

We arrived Wednesday night, & only got early entry on the Saturday & we were going home then so didn't even get to use that! :rotfl:

    Thanks again balletshoes!

Wow - rides closing because of the cold? Is that because of the mechanics or because of it being too cold for any riders??

Soooo excited. Not sure if I can wait 2 years. Thinking we might take advantage of the Sky offer and do a quick visit in September this year. Possibly camping (we have a lovely big tent!)..... still thinking! lol With DD being so young, it would be a case of character meeting, shows, and the odd smaller ride me thinks....

OMG - just started a fake booking on DLP site out of interest, and put in the Disneyland Hotel (for early December) - my goodness it's expensive!! Is it always that expensive? Nearly £1000 more for the package than Cheyenne!!! Is that because of the time of year???

Booked a few days in June and paid close to £2K for my hotel and tickets. At the checkout, there is a note stating that Credit Card payments come with a £14 surcharge. I paid with a Debit Card yet was billed the £14 surcharge. Disneyland's response:

'Having checked your booking, you have paid using a Visa debit card, which is considered as a credit card as it number starts with a 4. Our Booking Terms and Conditions, which you have accepted at time of booking, do advise the surcharge is applied for payment made with Visa credit and debit cards. The only card for which we do not apply the surcharge is the Maestro debit cards (number starting with a 6), which is not accepted to pay on our website as it needs to be processed manually in a different system.'

Checking their T&Cs, which are very well hidden, I can see that '
A fixed charge of £ 9 will apply per reservation paid by international credit / debit card
on-line via www.disneylandparis.com or by telephone via Disneyland Paris Central
    Reservation Office.'

    Anyone else had this? Thanks!

yes - you never used to be charged for a debit card booking, but you are now, on every booking through DLP.

cdsmiler the price for the Disneyland Hotel is always always silly expensive, because you are paying for the location - its right at the entrance to the main park at DLP.

It's not clear, and the T&Cs don't tie up (14 vs 9). If I'd known about the fee being applicable for both Debit and Credit Cards, I would have paid using my 0% Clubcard Credit Card and pocketed the Clubcard Points.
