Just got back this afternoon from a 3 night stay at the Sequoia Lodge (literally only JUST got back, the flight after ours was diverted back to Paris!) & we had a lovely if not VERY cold time! This is the first time we've stayed on site, & whilst it obviously has its benefits, I have to say I do prefer the off site hotels. The Sequoia Lodge is very dated, & really needs "doing up". They were doing work while we were there, as when we returned to the hotel in the afternoon we could hear drilling & there was a strong smell of paint.

Didn't think much to the breakfasts, wasn't aware it was only continental with no hot option. Did prove handy for making sandwiches to take in the park (I took sandwich bags with me to pop them in to keep them fresh ;) ) We went for breakfast at 7:30 each morning & it was quiet. As we came out each day a character was in the photo area for pictures, which again was quiet at that time. I heard the characters rotated, but only saw that happen on our first morning, when it was Goofy & then the Chipmunks. The next day was Mickey, & the last was Minnie, and they didnt alternate. We'd literally chuck some clothes on for breakfast & then go upstairs afterwards for our showers etc. The queue for breakfast & the character was obscene anywhere past 8:45. I'd definitely recommend an early start if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle.

We caught the free bus to Explorers a couple of times in the evening for pizza for tea & so our little boy could play in the soft play area there. The soft play does say its for residents only, but no-one asked for any proof we were staying there which was great.

We took 250 euros for the 3 nights and came home with 40, & we bought souvenirs, pictures, presents etc, which I was really pleased about!

Anyone going imminently, you really do need to wrap up warm. I was, but my lips are still ridiculously chapped, & my cheeks are all rough :(

Hi everyone, have been reading this thread for ages, such a lot of invaluable info. Jumped on the Sky deal & just booked for 3 Adults 1 Child thr Consort Travel for 2nts in the Explorers Hotel 6-7 June. As 2 free Adult tickets incl, just wondering if anyone knows if the "kids under 7 years say'n'play free" would apply? Checked both sites T&Cs but it doesn specifically mention it. Otherwise will keep fingers crossed for Tesco CC deal coming in April.
  • Thanks for the tip will make sure our scarfs and buffs are packed, as buffs are great can be pulled up to nose so only eyes out.

Really looking forward to it, think I am more excited then the kids

    6 days till our hol

Anyone know what the cheapest way to travel to Disneyland (from London) for the day is? Thinking about taking advantage of Skys free tickets (buying an extra ticket) and just going for the day but looked at Eurostar and it is costing over £200; wouldnt mind this if I was stayng but for a day trip no. I am one of those crazy drivers who cant do motorways :( so I wouldnt even think about trying to drive there:eek:. Just trying to squeeze in another trip - plus it would be nice to see the anniversy celebrations. Not fussed at all about when I go although I think the summer or Halloween would be nice. Thanks guys
BTW it will be 3 of us travelling ; me (26), my dd (4 - turns 5 in aug) and ds (7 - turns 8 in july)

if the 2 free park tickets are the Sky tickets, then no, the kids under 7 stay and play free won't apply (thats only for DLP hotel/tickets packages, onsite hotels only generally).

to be honest, even driving it would probably cost you not much less than £200 when you add the tolls etc.

    Not overly panicing yet.

The confirmation emails do say "Your final travel documentation along with your Free Family Ticket Voucher and any pre-purchased additional Park Passes and/or Meal Vouchers will be sent to you by post approximately 10-15 days prior to your departure date" and we're not due to be there until Feb 13th.

All 3 sets of vouchers have turned up now :T

    Tracy ?

we load the car up with loads of food / snacks and drinks ( they dont have squash as such in France,so bring some if you / the kids drink it)
we then buy fresh items from one of the large supermarkets, when we get there

bring bedding as the European sites only have blankets, not duvets !!

a small fan heater is a good idea as sometimes they dont have heating in the bedrooms. We have needed this in July one year, you never know what the weather is going to be like, just like over here ! :)

as for spending money ... where do you plan on eating for your evening meals ? do you plan on buying souvenirs @ Disney etc ?

Hi thanks for replying. No I'm not Tracey lol - someone else you know obviously has the same plans as us this year

Thanks for the heads up re squash and duvets! I will add them to my list of things to buy/take.

Our evenings meals we thought about staying close to the campsite as there seems to be a little town nearby so we thought this would be easier/cheaper than eating in the centre of Paris? The kiddies will have their own money for souvenirs etc so I'm hoping we don't have to spend much money on that sort of thing. :o
