Wow that sounds great...thanks for posting needahol. We are going end of March with The Sun deal but might have to try and squeeze in another trip later in the year if we can get free tickets! Would be lovely to be able to go and see the 20th celebrations.
  • Hi Ballet shoes another question: what is the best way to spend money at DLP, I mean, cash, credit card, debit card? Should I exchange my £ for Euros before departing or can I do it there?
It will be 2 adults and one 4 year old for 3 nights and 4 days.
We will have our breakfast at hotel obviously and few snacks in the bag plus lunch with the princesses and BBWW show, so two meals are sorted.
We like to eat nice food but I don't want to break the bank.
I am thinking Anette's Dinner as Dh loves burgers and I read somewhere they have authentic american burgers (don't ask me what makes it different from british ones...)
I am thinking Planet Hollywood as I never been there.
Someone suggested Rainforest Cafe but we do have a venue in London although I am not sure if it is the same thing...
I am not even consider Mc Donalds, nooo way.
    Any sugestions?

    Hi Deleted_User

Havent been yet so dont know the answers, but this is what we have done, we have put our money onto a post office euro card, as then we can use it to pay by card or in a cash machine to take money out, no card charges for useing it. You can top it op on line or by phone as well.

We have upgraded to half board as it worked out cheaper for us, family of 5, 6 days in the park. I then phoned up and reserved our tables for the meals for most days. We ahd already booked for princess meal and for cowboy cook out.

    so we have booked
Cowboycook out for monday chance to meat the charectuers (sp) for all of us lol. And we like tex mex
Silverspur steak house for tue this is valentines day we are eating in the eve, bit of a romantic meal (with the kids lol)
Wed Princess lunch for me and dd, and cowboy cookout for dh and boys, this was booked when we orig booked, we have princess lunch booked for 12.15 as that is when the bloke on the phone said the princesses come out. PM we are going to see if we can exchange our vouchers for pizza planet, middle son BIG buzz lightyear/toy story fan, so this would be a dream.
Thurs Billy bob, tex mex again but sounds nice
Fri we are hoping for annettes, but will play it by ear.

    Only 7 days to go

Annettes has a great atmosphere, when are you going again? As Annettes is closing in March until early April for a refurb.
Planet Hollywood and Rainforest Cafe are the same at DLP as they are everywhere else in the world.
Erm if you like nice food, in my opinion BBWWS isn't it - you're paying for the show really. Its passable food, thats all (my daughter didn't eat any of it and I had to get her a pizza on the way back to the hotel after the show ;)).

I love the buffets at DLP, Billy Bobs in the Village is good, so are the buffet restaurants at most of the onsite hotels (and you don't have to be a guest at any of the hotels to eat there). I wouldn't go to the Cheyenne buffet for dinner again, but thats because I can't remember what we had (it clearly didn't leave an impression on me).

I just take euros cash, get them before we go. I have used the atms at DLP too, if you're withdrawing a decent amount using them the card charges aren't bad and you get the bank exchange rate, which is better than the currency exchange rate.

Credit cards are widely accepted in the shops/restaurants too.
  • Just got back last night from 3 days in DLP staying at the Santa Fe.

We traveled by Eurostar from St.Pancreas, the journey was fine, quick & smooth. We have booked the Disney express service so they came to our seats on the train and told us what to do with our luggage once we arrived & gave us our part tickets, half board vouchers, etc.

It was freezing once we arrived at DLP, it is about -2/-3 in the day time so make sure you take gloves, hat, scarves and lots of warm clothes!

It wasn't that busy and the only thing we queued for was the Princess Pavilion where you get a meet & greet with some Princesses. We went straight there at 11am and had to wait 90 mins so get there as soon as you can! Apparently it is 2 princesses in the morning but only one in the afternoon.

One huge disappointment for my 2 dd's was that Rapunzel was nowhere to be seen :( She didn't turn up for any of her scheduled appearances and no one could tell us why and she wasn't in the parade either.

The parade is fab so make sure you don't miss it! It starts at 5pm.

There are loads of shops selling much the same thing at the same prices, all the little knick knacks are resonalbly priced at about 4/5 euros.

We were half board and took loads of snacks & drinks with us for when in our hotel room and in the park, there was no issue with this on the Eurostar or going into the parks as my DH had been told!

We stayed at the Santa Fe which was fine, basic but comfy and clean for the short amount of time you are there. The rooms can be a little trek from the hotel especially when it is so cold, for some reason I was unaware that the rooms were not inside the actually hotel but apartment blocks instead.

Get in to reastaurant earlier for breakfast & dinner as it really fills up. We went in for Breakafast around 8/8.30am and walked in & were seated fine but everytime we left the queue was HUGE! Breakfast consists of croissants, pain au chocolate, toast, cereal, fruit & cold meats. People were making up picnics with the food for their lunch but we didn't bother as McDonalds is only about £2 more expensive than here and then it was somewhere warm to eat too!

The characters are in the hotel reception from around 9/9.30 each morning for autographs & photo's. There is an official photographer there too that will give you a little card to hand in every time you have the photos taken professionally which lasts for 3 days and then you can view them & buy if you wish. We got 3 photos for 25 euros.

Dinner in the evening was a Mexican buffet with loads of choice, they also pizza, fish fingers, chicken nuggets, sausages & chips for kids.

HTH someone, it is a great experience and worth doing! Have fun!

    Hi everyone :hello:

We are going to disneyland for the first time in June for 7 nights and I'm after some advice.

We've booked to stay in a eurocamp resort outside Paris as we couldn't afford to stay in the resort itself. Can anyone give me some advice on how much spending money we should be taking? I need time to save it up but don't want to go short of cash. We've got a euro tunnel included in with our holiday and we're planning on taking a cool box with stuff like bacon, sausage, beans etc etc for breakfasts. We're also planning to buy some bread and stuff to make our own dinners but wanted to go out for evening meals.

We also want to visit the disney parks for a day and do sightseeing in paris for a day.

Can anyone advise what we should be taking?

    Thanks :o

at the Cheyenne you usually see characters just outside the main reception building between 8am and 11am. There is a notice board inside, near the toilets and the entrance to the restuarant there, which should tell you which 2 characters will be there each day of your stay (they rotate every half hour).

The Mexican buffet is at the Santa Fe hotel, a few minutes walk from the Cheyenne (they are right across the river from each other, and connected by a bridge walkway).

    Tracy ?

we load the car up with loads of food / snacks and drinks ( they dont have squash as such in France,so bring some if you / the kids drink it)
we then buy fresh items from one of the large supermarkets, when we get there

bring bedding as the European sites only have blankets, not duvets !!

a small fan heater is a good idea as sometimes they dont have heating in the bedrooms. We have needed this in July one year, you never know what the weather is going to be like, just like over here ! :)

as for spending money ... where do you plan on eating for your evening meals ? do you plan on buying souvenirs @ Disney etc ?
