Got back yesterday - and a fab time was had by all.

The kids loved it even though they only got to go on 3 rides and we didn't even make it into the Studios park !!!

They went on Buzz Lightyear, Peter Pan and Thunder Mountain (which was a lot scarier than I remember it from years ago !!!). They saw the character show in Central Plaza and caught all of the 5pm parade as well. Whilst they were watching the show I managed to get a few goes on Indiana Jones (which only had a wait time of 5-10 minutes :D). The kids were just a little too short for Space Mountain and the bloke at the entrance wouldn't budge so no go there :( Everyone was a bit miffed that PoC was closed :( Though we did have a bit of luck with Thunder Mountain; when we first arrived there was a technical hitch and the ride wasn't working with dozens of people waiting to get on - so we went off to the Pocohontas play area for about 20 minutes. We walked back past Thunder Mountain just as it was reopened (with very little queue) and got on the ride in 10 minutes. When we go off the ride, the queue was already at 50minutes !!!!

Still not sure how, even with planning, Fastpass helps your day as we got to an already long queue for Buzz at 11am - the Fastpass time was already at 15:30 - 16:00 !!!

Stayed at the Canteloup (?) hotel - near Val D'europe - on Friday night. Bit basic but we were only after a room anyway.

Thanks to all for the advice over the past couple of weeks. The kids are desperate to go again. I think next time, despite the cost, we might have to use on of the resort hotels to complete the experience.

Glad you all had a good time
only 3 rides in the main park ?! :( were the queues really bad ?

Space Mountain is horrible, really throws you around and hurts your neck,so maybe a good thing your kids couldn't go on it!

can't believe it was so busy ?! sounds like it was busier than Feb half term wkend?!!

sooo when are you planning on going again ? :D

To be fair, we weren't hurtling round the park at break neck speed if you know what I mean - and the kids were only interested in the 'big' rides. It was possibly a combination of timing and long(ish) queues.

Buzz - the queue was at "entrance" sign by 11:30 I would say (we queued for just under an hour here having got to the ride @ 11)

Peter Pan - same as above.

Thunder Mountain - as I said, we got lucky here (didn't queue for longer than 15 minutes - but if we had been 20 minutes later, that would have been another 1hr queue)

The kids desperately wanted to see the 15:30 show (and due to timings we couldn't do another ride and be back in time for show) and then, again, there wasn't enough time to risk trying to fit in a ride between the show and 5pm parade.

I don't go enough to know if those queue lengths mean it was busy - Indy seemed to have a wait time of 10-15 mins all afternoon (according to the Information screens). We arrived at the car park at about 10:30AM and the it was already up to row D.

Will definitely be going again but unless the Sun do another offer - it will take a lot of saving up. As I say, I would deffo want to stay onsite next time.

I believe you were there in some French, Belgian and Spanish school holidays Adam (they go back to school tomorrow) so this would have been some of the reason for the park being so busy. It seems to have caught a lot of visitors out going at this time of year this year, Feb/March school holidays have spread out over about one month through Europe this year.

Good to hear it didn't put you off though - I don't like queueing :).

That might indeed explain it balletshoes. Friday was the only day we could go really (luckily it was a school INSET day)

The OH and I were both amazed at how well behaved / patient the kids were in all the queues.

ah European school hols that explains it then :)
bet lots of people go at this time expecting it to be quiet and out of season etc and then get a shock !

you should have parked in the Disney Village multistorey carpark! 8 euros per day instead of 15 euros and you are closer to the parks than the actual Disney carpark, madly!

Do you collect Tesco clubcard points? you could use deals for tickets and eurotunnel then just stay offsite again or one of the other hotels eg Explorers etc

makes for a cheap trip :D

we don't feel like we have "missed out" by never staying onsite
i guess if you have little ones then is makes it easier to go back for a nap / downtime etc

but as we spend very little time in the accom, sleep, shower and get ready ! we just need clean, nearby accom and we find the Adagio aparthotel fits the bill perfectly
it's literally like 3 mins away in the car (
we have stayed at the Explorers once before and OMG the shuttle buses ?!!! no thank you lol )

We were planning to - but can't remember why we didn't. I think maybe because we just followed the main car park signs and didn't see any specific village (car park) ones.

We do collect Tesco points but the OH wasn't keen on the tunnel (too claustrophobic apparently). Mind you the ferry crossings were fine. The return one (on the Spirit of Britain) was very good ... those bed/sofas :T

The more I think about it - we probably don't need to stay onsite. The kids certainly would get nothing from the character breakfasts (judging by their refusal on Friday to go up to any of the characters !!!) though the magic hours would come in handy.

We arrive on Wednesday, looked at the weather yesterday, it's supposed to be 12-15c, dry with sunny spells.

    Only 2 more sleeps :j

accuweather.com has usually been pretty accurate for me for trips to DLP :).
