Well, 6 days to go and my 3 year old and I are very excited!
Shareholders club - I mentioned this to hubby for the first time over lunch (he has been working away from home for a few weeks and I hadn't got round to mentioning it over the phone) and he thinks I was mad not to do it before - a no brainer apparently! Anyway, up until now it hadn't been top of my priority list, but all of a sudden i'm wondering if it could possibly be worth trying to arrange it before we travel on Saturday? I have been looking through this thread to try and find the info and you have given me a bit of hope blue monkey...blue_monkey wrote: »If you are interested in this I set my share account on Monday night, bought the shares yesterday once trading opened. Then I copied the contract from my screen, into Word (you cannot send a print out from the screen). I emailed the Word document over with the Shareholder club information from that link above and I had confirmation this morning with my shareholder club number. So all in all, you can get set up as a shareholder within 24 hours.
I do already have a Halifax savings account so hopefully that will help to set it up quickly. Is it worth a try? I have been trying to find the current share price. I think they closed on Friday at £8.77. Seems a lot compared to the prices people were quoting before!
Hubby, (never one to go the uncomplicated route!) is now saying, "well you don't have to use Halifax, there are plenty of other share dealing companies"! Do Halifax just charge a fee of £11.95 to buy the shares?
I'm sure there was a link here somewhere with loads of info on it, but i can't find it now. Anyone know what it was?
Thankyou!0 -
Hi everyone. Can anyone tell me if you are able to book a disney character breakfast without actually staying at DLP (plan to stay in a nearby option)? Thanks in advance.Love, through the trees, past the sky, beyond the northern lights; and I won't let go. May your soul and spirt fly sweetheart x

yes you can - just go into City Hall on Main St usa when you arrive at the resort, or pop into Cafe Mickey and make your reservation.0 -
If you've already got breakfast included in your hotel package elsewhere why not try character lunch or tea, at least your getting an extra meal out of it, rather than paying twice for breakfast IYSWIM0

Hi SH1,
I think it is a lot of money - we paid £92 incuding the fee for 20 shares just a few months ago now. You'd have to spend £1200 to get a return on your money so if you can do that..... Yes, they do charge you £11.95 to buy them too, plus you need to leave £10 in the account to allow for movement in the share price while buying them.
Why didn't I buy more.... DOH!!!!!!

You need to open a shredealing account (you can do this online) with the Halifax but note the trading hours, you cannot do this during the day. I then 'joined the club' by filling out the form online and copied the certificate into word and emailed the Word document over to the the shareholder club. However, I do believe you need to ask for a temporary card to show in the hotels and restaurant. You might be able to ask if you can get this from the hotel. Why not give them an email and ask them - see what they say.
Enjoy your trip.0 -
Hi,
We stayed at the NYH in November and they handed out towels on the way into the pool and there was a container to put used ones into so we didn't need to take them from the room.
Also, if you plan to go to the "posh" restaurant in the hotel for dinner - the one with the round tables and tablecloths - check it's open on the day you want to go. We assumed it would be open every day but it wasn't!0 -
Thanks blue monkey.
Well I live in hope! I have registered this evening and will buy the shares in the morning, after I've called DLP to have a chat with them about how quickly I can process the application.
The price is 8.77euros at the mo, not quite as bad as £8.77 and better than when I looked a few days ago and it was nearer 10 euros! Haven't your investments grown! Lets hope they go down a bit in the morn not up!
We have planned to take about £700 spending money, which means we won't recover the costs this time, but I'll still have the shares to sell, and I'm thinking we will go every 3 years or so, so it will be something I hope to use throughout the next few years.
Will give an update on my progress later in the week! Talk about leaving it 'til the last minute!0 -
you could also just buy 5 shares right now (they have been as low as just under 4 euros per share in the last year, they do fluctuate a lot) and pay the 30 euro admin fee to join the shareholder club for 2 years. Even with the admin fee this would cost less than half the price of buying 20 shares right now.
Then in the next 2 years, keep an eye on the share price, when they drop to a low price then you could buy your other 15 shares (at certain times of the year Halifax waive their share buying fee too). Then at the end of your 2-year shareholders club membership, when you come to renew for another 2 years, you'd have the requisite 20 shares in total so you wouldn't have to pay the shareholders club admin fee again.0 -
Ohh, I like your thinking Balletshoes, hadn't considered that.
Have just tossed it over with the holder of the purse strings (who obviously only gives the instructions, doesn't actually sit here for hours reading the threads and doing the sums!). It would be much better to do that, might even make a profit on this trip, and then I (that being me again of course) just have to keep an eye on the price of the shares! Still have to ring Disney tomorrow to see if they will processs it ultra quick. Night, night!0 -
