speaking of meeting up wt characters while dining, i plan to hav a dinner at the Invention, is it true tht the disney characters spend more time at each table and are more engaging with children there?
Are there more characters at the Invention than Cafe Mickey?
tq
Inventions.
Tbh, we have had loads of character meals - here and in Florida - and as most of them do not speak there is only so much engaging they can do.
We found they had lots of time for the kids at CM but we have never eaten at Inventions to compare tbh. CM is quite small so it is not long before they come around to the table again. We had loads of character meals in Florida and because if he size of the restaurant, we got to see the characters only one time for each character. In CM they came round 3 times, sometimes more depending on who it was. The naughty characters engage with the children from experience.
We ate at one in Florida with chip and dale, they went off for a break and we was sitting next to the door, when they came out 'chip' and 'dale' had been marked on the back of the heads so they obviously did not get their heads mixed up when they took them off, but they had forgotten to rub it off before putting it back on :rotfl:0 -
It seems to be you get what you pay for at disney.
Depends what you want out of your holidays.
It would cost you far more for a 4 day trip to London - only difference is that you have to go there by train or plane so it gives you an additional cost.
£600 for 4 people to have a 4 day stay in a themed hotel with eat all you like breakfast with park tickets to get into all the attractions and go on 40 or so rides is NOT expensive!! It's not even £40 a day pp for stay, food and admission. And you can get it cheaper depending on when you go and where you want to stay.
A 4 day stay at Butlins in the summer costs £600 for 4 people in crappy silver accomodation and the 2 breaks cannot even be compared!! I think Disneyland Paris is excellent value for money.0 -

I want it to be warm and October won't be so maybe look at earlier...
The reason i looked at Sunday is that the explorers has an discounted offer for checking in on a Sunday...
Will look at Mon-Thurs on your recommendation, thank you xx
No worries. To be fair though, you cannnot guarentee warm in September either, their weather is pretty much the same as ours. We always go in November and with coats, hats and gloves, it is never super cold as there is a lot of walking that keeps you warm. Just take wellies to be on the safe side, we did not take them last time and our feet got soaked as it rained.
If i was going to suggest any time it would be then, the first week of November after the fireworks and rememberance Sunday as it is Xmas and very, very quiet.0 -

Character breakfast was great when we went. Great for the kids and the wife really enjoyed it too. We had ours in Cafe Mickey and the spread they put on is pretty good.
As far as being baby-ish it depends on your boys really. The characters just come out and visit each table for autographs and pictures etc. They don't stay long with you if they don't feel you want them to.
We saw plenty of older children who seemed to have a good time. Just my two pennies worth.
thank you, having a little on inside info of the way things work always helpballetshoes wrote: »But if you intend eating sit-down dinner or lunch rather than counter-service or McDonalds, you could have character lunch or dinner at Cafe Mickey and put that £40 towards that meal (which you'd be having anyway if you see what I mean).
thank you Balletshoes, this makes perfect sense. We went only B&B as we heard that going half board doesnt really save you money anyway. But yes we were going to go to at least one sit down restaurant meal. We got a couple of food discount vouchers for the Rainforest Cafe and King Ludwig Castle.
Is it only Cafe Mickey if it offers characters breakfast/lunch/dinner?
Do I need to book in advance like a couple of days early?
thanks so much0 -

Yes, Cafe Mickey is the only restaurant which offers characters at breakfast, lunch and dinner. And yes, its a very popular restaurant, so best to book at least a day in advance (they do run a queue system at door of the restaurant, so you might still be in a queue before you are seated, but I always feel safer booking in advance, at least you know you are actually going to be seated - i've been next to folk who've wanted to eat in Cafe Mickey in the evening with no reservation, and been told there is no table available until 2 or 3 hours later ). Not good when you've got hungry kids.0 -

Couldn't agree more - I always stick to my budget (and try to come under it) when planning a trip to DLP. This year, we're going for 5 days, one adult and 2 kids, and in total including travel, onsite hotel, breakfast, park tickets and transfers, we are around £450 ie £30 per person per day.
I could stay at home in my own house and it could cost me that much (or more) in days out!0 -
does anyone know of any cheap places to stay for a family of four either in the park or outside ie caravan river etc.
Have you tried the Daily Mail or the Sun offers, dependant on times it is only £5pppn, so for 4 it is possible to get it at £20pn self catering, which on a budget means you can make lunch and don't have to pay for restaurant dinner if you don't want to. Hop over to the DM thread and get the codes to book online, The Sun, you will have to collect the tokens for.bikebarbie wrote: »hello
does anyone know of a budget hotel outside DP as we would like to spend a day in Paris.
Many thanks
Have you tried Hotels.com ? We managed a room for 4 in central Paris for £50pn on a bank holiday weekend. Do be wary though, can't remember the road name of the top of my head, but we booked a hotel near the Gare d'Est and didn't realise it was opposite the red light district, it was a sobering experience to walk down there at 9.30am on a Sunday morning pushing a stroller while they stood in doorways touting for business
Thanks all for the advice on here btw, have spent the last 2 days reading (not all obv. but a good 30+ random pages!). Apologies if I repeat anything already said, but I do have a few blanks that I would like filling in please!
Have read about the shareholder pass and the annual passes and think it may well be cheaper than the original option of 3 day tickets, but.....
1. Where do you buy shares? Also is a shareholders card automatically issued or do you have to apply. Also, how much do they cost?
2. How much of a saving would I get on an annual pass from owning the above? I know the free car parking will be a good bonus as I am driving over.
3. Am doing the hol on a real shoestring, having budgeted about £1200 all in inc spends for 6 nights. If I were to take a packed lunch would that be a prob. There is just going to be me and 2 DDs (3 and 2) so wouldn't be a lot.
4. Serveral people have mentioned a birthday meal with cake, how would I go about booking one of these if I am staying off site? Would I need to do it in advance or can I book the first day and still get it? Going tues-Mon, so first day on park will be weds and bday is Sat. Not intentional its just that the price I could afford for the site happened to fall on DDs 2nd bday, so wanted to do something special.
Umm....know there was one more thing but forgot..:o
Oh, park tickets, I was originally planning on 3 days at disney, then the rest roaming Paris, but the only tickets I can find are 4 for the price of 3 and they are only marginally cheaper than an annual pass. Did look at exchanging Clubcard vouchers for park entry but currently it is £27.50 for a day pass each would have worked out at £82.50 worth of vouchers each, which I neither have nor think it is a particularly good offer.
Sorry if I ramble, I type my thoughts!
Also, would have loved to do the Disney Hotel, but really can't afford. Just split from partner and am very much needing something to look forward to for all of us. Hol is booked for Sep 13th onwards, so plenty of time to squirrel away what I thing I will need.
Thanks in advance for your help0 -

there is a lot of information regarding shares here -

you get 15% discount on each annual pass you buy as a shareholder (your 2 year old won't need a pass or a park ticket).

no problem taking packed lunches into the park, just no glass bottles etc

its fine - you can book it at City Hall in the main park when you arrive, that will be plenty time to arrange it.

Enjoy planning your trip - I think I'd also like to stay once at the Disneyland Hotel - but its never gonna happen, I think even if I had the money I'd struggle to justify it.

Thankyou for the advice! God I do waffle once I get started!
Have had a good read of the shares thread and will be opening and account once I have finished the house move next week. The saving on the tickets alone seem worth it!
Was worried I wouldn't get the bday organised in time, but you have put my mind at rest.
I am inclined to think the same about the Disney Hotel! Only trouble with this site is you pick up so much in the way of money saving that paying so much for something when there is a cheaper option actually hurts!
Still if I win the lottery, then maybe I can justify it - maybe!
ps. This is my first time, can you tell! so excited!0 -
Whats this... Shareholders Club??? Guess what I have planned for tonight...0
