I was thinking of booking a character meal when we go- probably breakfast. I was wondering though- do people normally book more than one character meal or just the one? If I booked dinner at Cafe Mickey, would there be any point to having breakfast there as well? Would it be worth booking breakfast at Cafe Mickey and dinner/ lunch at the Cowboy Cookout Barbecue? Thanks for any advice.

are you just going for one day? if you are, and your main reason for going to DLP is to meet characters, then the breakfast at Cafe Mickey and then lunch/dinner at Cowboy Cookout could be an option (but Cowboy Cookout lunch and dinner is only a character meal from April next year isn't it?).

If you're going for longer than a day, you could spread out your character meals more.

Thanks sorry, can't seem to get the multiquote to work -
Orville, I got confused we are actually taking the car on the EuroTunnel I can never get it right with the two!

Balletshoes, we do have the option of going Sun-Mon and it's slightly cheaper but I was thinking that the rides wouldn't be too busy even on a weekend as it's not term time - have I got that totally wrong??

    Thanks guys!

It doesn't matter if its termtime or not - DLP gets so busy every weekend because the park is so close for so many local guests. I went in termtime in October, and experienced my first Saturday at DLP - omg :eek: - could not believe how much busier it was than midweek!

Yeah i have to agree, it's a nightmare.. If you can keep to a weekday visit. It will be much quieter.

Hi no worries. OK well a Eurotunnel booking is for example Friday 14th Jan 8am crossing £51. The Return journey say 4pm £29. This is a total of £80.

Hotel Santa Fe arriving on the 14th Jan for 3 nights with one child, i put in your child's age of 7 as a guess and your infant as under a year old. It comes up at £285.60 including park tickets and breakfast.

With Half Board (Evening meals) it comes in at £444.60.

So if you add that the quote without the evening meals as i am sure your thomascook quote dosen't include it the total price is £365.60.

If you include your evening meals it comes to £524.60

Both these quotes don't take into account your petrol costs. And don't forget it will be around 20 euros in toll fees when in france.

Your origional quote was for £403 so if you level that up with the first quote of £365.60 it is in my mind slightly more going with Thomascook.

Thanks guys, I think we will stick with Thomas Cook just because it's easier to have it all done in one go - it's a spur of the moment thing so I know if we start shopping around and booking separately it will get put off and off .......... for a couple of quid I would rather be done with it.

Although I am starting now to lean towards the Sun-Wed as would hate to go all that way and not get on anything - it was bad enough when we went to Legoland this year!!

If you have the option, definitely take the Sun-Weds rather than a visit over a weekend.

Hi just thought i would mention that you can use tesco clubcard vouchers to pay for the Eurotunnel if you have any. I know you said you are going to book with Thomascook, but i just thought i would make you aware :):D

We have only ever been in school hols (as we have 2 school aged children) or @ wkends and yes it's busier than midweek / term time, but you just need to make good use of fastpasses / EMH etc

we were there in Oct half term and longest we queued was 40 mins
Crushs' coaster ( which i would not go back on again anyway :rotfl:) was 80 mins, but that's always stupidly long wait time even when it's just opened!

We tend to get rides done in the first few hours, then have a meal and watch some shows / parades etc, then do more rides late afternoon / evening ( BTM in the dark is fab! )

we got everything done, some favourite rides over and over ( BTM :T)

Not everyone is able to take advantage of quieter / cheaper periods @ DLP :( but it doesn't put me off going :D

we are always prepared with snacks and drinks, and the kids take their PSP's to keep occupied whilst in queue
