Hi, I am an newbie to DLP and have just started exploring the many options available to us. We are planning on going late september or october this year. Like NW London were are 2 adults and one kid but our daughter is already 3 and a half years old, so she already pays entrance fee. My first impressions are that the whole experience is very expensive  As a couple we always travelled the MSE way and were able to save a lot, but I having trouble figuring out how to save in this occasion...
My questions to help me navigate this wealth of information are the following:
- disney hotels: are they worth it or am I better off putting a package together myself (hotel BB + tickets)? I am thinking the Santa fe hotel not more than that. Alternatively I have seen the Kyriad, Golden Tulip, Novotel, off-site and they seem nice.
- should I look into the offers I see advertised of free child, 4 for 3 tickets, or are there better ways to get nicer prices? Because of past experience in other destinations, I don't trust these sort of offers and always assume I can do better... too many years travelling the the mse way, I guess :-)
- meal plans: are they worth it?
- having been to DLP several times before my daughter was born, I have had the intense experience of doing it all in one very tiring day (including riding space mountain several times), but now I am thinking 2 days (one day in each park) the slow way. Then perhaps an extra day with a trip to disney village, some lunch at the rainforest cafe, diner in one of the disney themed shows or with characters. But this is the money-saving me trying to get the most without paying a lot. Should I look into the 3 nights packages the disney website offers? they seem incredibly expensive... Also it feels like a waste to have 4 days admission when the first day is check.in day, last day check-out and we will be travelling... Any thoughts on this?
- my final question has to do with the text above I quoted from balletshoes. I can book 1 adult + 1 child and then 2 adults show up? not sure I understood the extension of what balletshoes said...
Many many thanks for any clues, ideas, pointers the MSE way!!!0 -
if you are only going to need 2-day tickets, staying offsite will almost certainly be the cheapest way to do that. Go midweek, and don't go after 16th October, because French school holidays start at the end of that week.
have a look at the French version of the DLP site (change the country to France, then choose Isle de France). I believe they have dated day tickets at 45 euros each for one park -
http://idf.disneylandparis.fr/offres/billets/billet-1-jour.html
then stay offsite for your 3 nights, and do your Village day - the only character meal now in the Village is Cafe Mickey, Mickey and friends do show up in Buffalo Bills wild west show, but those tickets aren't cheap - but having said that usually ticketnet.fr have cheaper tickets for Buffalo Bills (you'll still be cheaper sharing pizza in Cafe Mickey though).
I wouldn't advise looking for onsite hotel/park tickets if you don't intend using park access for at least 3 days to be honest.
Meal plans are definitely not worth paying for at DLP - they are restrictive and don't save you any money - there are definitely cheaper ways to eat at DLP.0 -

Thanks balletshoes, your input is greatly appreciated.
Two days in the parks + 1 day outside is my first intuitive cheap alternative. But it is not set in stone!!
If it is not overly expensive I am happy to book a package with on-site hotel + parks for 3 days. It just seems strange to waste the days of arrival and departure, but again it is mostly a question of price.
I could book an extra night on arrival and departure without park entrance, but it would have in another hotel, right? or it is possible to book a disney hotel without park entrance? In your experience, balletshoes, is it still worth booking a disney hotel (and I would love to stay in one for my daughter)? What do people normally do it they travel on days with park admission included?

you're asking the wrong person here - I've arrived at DLP after travelling at 7pm and gone straight to the park for the last hour and a half of the park day :rotfl:.
DLP isn't cheap, its not cheap to get there, its not cheap to stay there, and its not cheap to eat there.
So it really depends how much of a Disney bubble you want to be in - if you want to be immersed in it, book an onsite hotel package (you won't get room only onsite for September or October at decent prices, thats winter season territory - November through to March each year).0 -

Balletshoes, can you please help me figure this out? Thanks.0 -
Thanks so much for your help. So i think we are going to do 17th for 4 night stay, looking at £446. Im assuming this is the best deal we are going to get? Sounds pretty good to me!!!
The issue now is the travel! I orignally was looking to paris not to the disney stop, if we get the eurostar to paris is it easy enough to get to disney from there as its a big difference 138 comapred to 338!!
Hi, great price!! It is for mid-november though? Anyone been to DLP in mid november? What to expect in terms of weather? When is the fireworks?
Thanks.0 -
So we booked! And by changing the room at the Santa Fe to the Double (not on the Rio....) it went to £420 so perfect! Reminder set to watch out for release of non direct eurostar and train to london!!
Again thanks, I proabably wouldnt have booked it without your info.
So now im off to read this whole thread over the next few months and any unanswered questions i have I'll be sure to be back before we go. And when we get home tooWhoever said money can't buy happiness simply didn't know where to go shopping !!0 -

We went to DLP first week in November. Beautiful sunny days. We missed the fireworks.
I can honestly say i have never been so cold before. Take lots of warm clothing !
On the plus side the Santa Fe and Dreamcastle rooms are incredibly warm. Went in April once too, it was just as cold.0 -
I would avoid DLP in November, up to and including the 11th of the month - at the start of the month its still French school holidays, and 11th is Armistice day, a major public holiday in France and typically one of DLPs busiest days of the year.
Late November/early December is one of my favourite times to go- all wrapped up warm, Christmas theme and shows all over the resort, and midweek, the quietest ride times I've ever seen at DLP.
