  • We are booking flights and hotel this week for a visit from 13th - 17th October and wondering on the best ticket options as it looks like we can only buy a 1 day, 2 day or 3 day pass but we want to visit for 4 days so are we best buying a 3 day pass and a day ticket or is there another way of doing it that Ive missed?!
Also is it worth paying extra for the fast pass at that time of year?
Any other top tips would be fab! We are booking hotel L'Elysee as didn't fancy the look of the disney ones

because the main park is open from 8am to 11.30pm every night, split up your day and make sure you have plenty of rest/downtime.

Do EMH in the main park from 8am to 10am for the open rides, as after 10am it will be much busier and a few of the rides open in EMH don't have fastpass.

Watch the parades over your first couple of days, then after that plan to have your main meal of the day when the main park parade is on, you avoid the crowds in the restaurants that way.

Avoid eating at "normal" lunchtimes etc - plan to eat early (ie before 11.30) or late (ie after 2pm). Again, this helps avoid the huge crowds in the restaurants and counter service places.

Take time out of the parks in the afternoons (go back to your hotel and chill out/use the pool/have a nap), come back for the parades/dinner early evening then stay until the end of the park day.

Plan 3 or 4 things as a group that you want to see/do every day, and then fit anything else in around this.

You can download and print off the park programme today on the official DLP site, as its now high season at DLP it won't change for your dates, so it will be a huge help in planning your days :).

    Enjoy!

Thanks Balletshoes, I was hoping you'd reply. All excellent advice, I'll print the park programme off.

Is there anywhere that lists what rides are open in EMH, or are they all open?

With taking downtime to go back to the Hotel, will that still give us plenty of time to see and do everything?

Its only 2 areas of the main park which have open rides in EMH - they are (unless they are down for a scheduled refurb on your dates, which you can check on the official DLP site) -
    Dumbo the Flying Elephant
    Mad Hatters Teacups
    Peter Pans flight
    Le Carousel de Lancelot
    Buzz Lightyear Lazer blast
    Space Mountain
    Orbritron

yes - you have a lot of park time if you think about it - even if you take 3 hours out in the middle of each day, that still gives you 12 hours every day :).

you might be better with annual passes - although you'd need to buy the most expensive ones because 14th October is a blockout date for the cheaper passes -

definitely not worth paying for fastpass - you have loads of time to see and do everything without needing to pay for fastpass (you get free fastpasses anyway, everyone does ;)).
  • does anyone know what time the night time parade is on at the disneyland park? Will be going in september, don't know if this changes anything?

its not a parade, its a lazer/lights/water/music/pyrotechnics show over the caste, its called Dreams, and its always on at park closing time. So for example, if on your dates the main park closes at 8pm, Dreams begins at 8pm, and will finish at around 8.25pm.

    Final question (hopefully).

Looking for opinions on the best buffet restaurant. Some of the party don't like lots of sauces, but love lots of meat and we have the kids as well.

    Thanks

We were thinking of stuffing our faces at brekkie, grab a light lunch and have a big buffet for supper.

Also what is the best time to have supper (if there is such a thing) and should we book in advance?

    Thanks

yes, definitely book in advance, to be honest I'm not sure which of the park buffet restaurants are open for dinner but Plaza Gardens is always a good bet.

The onsite hotel restaurants all have buffet restaurants open for dinner, and they are all good (i would avoid the Newport Bay Club at the moment because its going through its refurb). Maybe the Parkside Diner at the Hotel New York? Theres also La Grange at Billy Bobs in the Village. With the Village restaurants they will all be busy in the evenings, especially after the Studios park closes.
