Hi, i never saw these, what are they? where in dlp did you get them? sounds interesting
They are printing machines, you get them in lots of tourist spots. The idea is to put a 1c coin in, it rolls through a press and comes out with a new image on it and becomes eliptical in shape.
My nephew collects them, we got him a little book (from Disney in Anaheim, I think) for him to keep them in.
There a couple of machines in Festival Disney as well as in the theme parks, one of them was broken last week though. If anything I say starts to make sense, PANIC!0 -
is it disney characters they print on them?
where are the lockers as i want to get a coin when we go in 6 wks lol but i didnt see any of these machines when i went in marchWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
The pictures vary, it could be a pirates of the caribean image or donald duck, and some are better than others!
I don't know whether it is the lockers or the coin machines you are saying you didn't see in march but either way they were there then you just didn't spot them.
The coin machines are dotted around, like I say some in Festival Disney (oops Downtown Disney), I have been collecting the coins since 1992 (for euro/dlp)my nephew has one (at least) for every year the park has been open, my collection became his collection when he was about 7!
The lockers are situated in the railways arches you walk through, after you have gone through the main gates but before you get to the town hall. I first used the lockers in 1992 so they have been there from the beginning. If anything I say starts to make sense, PANIC!0 -
Actually arealbasketcase I dont mean the pressed coins. These were a little bit bigger than a £2 coin and have some really great pictures on them (see below). There were some machines for them under the railway arches as you first walk in the park and then I also saw some machines in the 2 arcades either side of Main Street. They also had a big pot of them at the Stroller rental shop.
The ones I have are
Discoveryland - Buzz Lightyear
Frontierland - Mickey as cowboy
Fantasyland - Tinkerbell
Main Street - Mickey
Special 15th Anniversary
2008 one
Walt Disney Studios - Mickey on it
Pirates of the Caribbean
I tried to ask in the Stroller shop and know that obviously missing Adventureland but also one other which I think has Mickey on it again.Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0 -
Hi Mazcabs, the only other coins I know are the lanyard pins but I'm guessing you don't mean these.
I'll be there again in a couple of weeks and I'll be on the lookout, I'll let you know if I find those you seek!!If anything I say starts to make sense, PANIC!0 -
Thanks arealbasketcase... we just thought that they were something different for our LO when he is older...When I first saw the machines I thought they were the pressed coin ones like you are describing but when we out in the money they came out with the one solid coin.
I must admit when I asked in the Stoller hire shop they werent very fluent in English so hard to get what they were saying unfortunately.... and when we asked elsewhere no-one seemed to know much about them. I only spotted them after we had been in Adventureland so not even sure if they had a machine there that had them
I would be grateful if you could have a look as its a shame to miss part of a collection... Thanks again and have a good time ( you're lucky to be going again so soon!!)Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0 -
Has any of you been into paris, as in going to see the tower etc from disneyland paris?
I know you can get an excursion from DLP but it's really expensive!!
Is it hard to do it, bearing in mind I have never been to france and will be alone with a 4 year old .
thanksI heart The Capital0 -

There ars some machines located in Disney Village outside the shops or there are more machines in Magic Kingdom as you go in by the lockers.0

Hi jimsmum,
Its easy to get to Paris from DLP. Just take the RER from the station outside. The ticket window staff will advise you of the best tickets and where to change. If you don't want to spend all of your time at DLP then also worth considering and one stop away on the RER is Val d'Europe, with a large shopping mall, outlet shops and a Sealife Centre. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
