how long a walk is it from the cheyenne rooms on the rio grande to the park? is there much of a difference compared to the cheyenne standard or buffalo rooms?

the cheyenne is next to the hotel new york, walking along the lakeside. Its about 10 minutes walk to the Village entrance to the parks. There is absolutely no difference in room facilities at the Cheyenne so I wouldn't pay anything to upgrade to either a rio grande or buffalo room.

Wer're going at the end of March, I can book Buffalo Bills for 40 euros each, is it worth doing that (We'd need to 18:30 show), will they come any cheaper?

    Thanks

book it - you won't get cheaper than that :).
  • Hi, we have Fantasy APs and are hoping to book for a trip in April. Does anyone know when sites, such as Expedia will show onsite hotel rooms available? Or even with AP discount would it be much cheaper to book offsite for 2 adults, 2 children?

    Thanks

for april i doubt you'll get a good room only rate anywhere, for onsite. Expedia etc usually have the best onsite room rates for the period November through to March each year.

So you can either go offsite, or you could look at booking a package onsite with just one adult and any free kids (so any kids under the age of 7). Then you can add the others to the room at check in with nothing extra but local taxes to pay, which are usually less than 2 euros per person per night.

eta - if it helps, i'm going in april, and have been seriously crunching numbers for ages now. I've booked the Kyriad for the 4 of us at a fully cancellable rate, but even with paying for APs for all of us, its still cheaper by a couple of hundred pounds, compared to a package onsite through DLP. The full price for the package is going to have to come down to around 50% off to come near what i'm paying staying offsite.
  • I noticed the Kyriad had good rates for our dates. Have you stayed there before?

no - but once i have, that will be all the partner hotels in that row i'll have stayed in, and i'm looking forward to it :).
  • We stayed at the Explorers last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. We'd read mixed reviews prior to booking but were pleasantly surprised.

I've done as you suggested and looked at the dlp site for 1 adult and 1 child under 7 but even the Cheyenne is double the price of most offsite hotels.

It looks like it will be an offsite stay again for us.

    Hi Livvipivvi

We're just come back from staying at the Cheyenne. We were in a block of rooms that was MILES (exaggeration, but felt like it first thing in the morning!! lol) from reception and the restaurant, but we were lucky that it was at the end closest to the park, so we found it easier most days to walk to the parks than walk back to reception, wait for and then get on to a crowded bus, and you have to walk a little from the bus to the park gates at the other end anyway! We preferred walking to the parks, browsing the shop in the Village in the morning when it's quiet as we stroll through, and it's what's put me off booking a partner hotel when we go in October as they're not REALLY walkable with a 4 year old. This was.

We stayed at the Dream Castle about a year and a half ago, and although the hotel itself was MUCH better than Cheyenne (Cheyenne is looking rather scruffy - needs major refurbishment!) - better rooms, beds, breakfasts..... - the shuttle buses, being shared between 4 hotels, are crowded, arrive less often, and not being walkable with a little one....well, we're looking at the newly refurbished Santa Fe now! Breakfast may still not be as good as the Dream Castle, but at the moment, will suit us better.

We'd like to return to the Dream Castle one day (as it was great!) and maybe try Explorers or Magic Circus......but current requirements favour the closeness to the parks.

Maybe took us 10 mins to walk to the parks - honestly, I never timed it. It doesn't feel long as once you've walked along the river a little way you're distracted by nosing at the other hotels, looking at the lake and the massive balloon, and then wandering through the village. Oh, and the security was quieter that way in rather than the main way in! :D

    Hope that helps??

    Hi Balletshoes

Where would you recommend looking for cheap Buffalo Bills tickets?

    Thanks!
