the onsite hotels do a great service on your last day if you are on the direct Eurostar home to London - you pay the hotel 11 euros total, for all your luggage to be taken to the train station Disney Express luggage store, for you. This is definitely worth it if you have a lot of luggage or young children with you. There will be a sign on the check-out desk at your hotel with this information on it.
thank you so much for your help! thats great. im sure il be back again with more questions though :rotfl:**Waiting for a BIG win!**
Thank you all posters!

Just started reading this thread, there's a lot to get through.
My wife has had a crazy idea of taking our 2 young children over Xmas or new year, this year! Had a few quotes but accommodation is £1500-2000.
I know its an expensive time to go nbut are there any quick tips I can check out before I get fully up to speed with how it works. It is so confusing.
If you are set on staying in an onsite hotel you will be paying a lot of money to do so at that time of year.
i think i,d start by looking at your travel options, see which dates etc are best for you. there are a lot of good hotels very close to dlp so if you stay offsite and sort out your own hotel and park tickets it could be a lot cheaper.0 -

The only reason not going to Sequoia Lodge is because of the swimming pools. Such a shame as once checked out it looked really nice. Fortunately I saw the notice saying no pools from 2nd which son hadn't. Just checked out the Disneyland and that looks nice as you would expect but more expensive than the New York which is another £350 more than Sequola.0 -
Can your son wait an hour or 2 before changing their booking lara? i might have an idea but i need to check a couple of sites first.
Has he booked both rooms at the sequoia lodge up til now?0 -

No he's only booked flights and was going to book hotel later this afternoon/early evening.0 -

The boys are young , 6 and 23 months (then) so we thought an on-site hotel would be more part of the experience. We've never been so its all new. Are the links in the OP still valid?
If so I'll trawl through them. Just dipped in and out of posts over the past year so far.I spend less than I earn and if I can't afford it I don't buy it. I'm guessing that makes me a money saver.0 -
ok Lara - here are the ideas -
The HNY for your dates is £1038 per room, including park tickets for the duration of your stay, this is apparently 20% off the full price plus free half board plus meal plan (if you would use this anyway, this part is worth around £24 per night booked per adult, and £13 for the 4-year old per night booked (you don't get meal vouchers for the infant)). So thats £2076, of which £244 worth is meals. So really your onsite hotel and park tickets for the Hotel New York is £1832.
To me, thats expensive (when you consider the Sequoia Lodge is so much cheaper).
But, it depends what you want - you mentioned you preferred a hotel close to the park, so I'd guess you wouldn't want to drive or take a free shuttle bus there each morning.
If you did, you could stay at the Dream Castle hotel, which is the same star rating as the Hotel New York, has a swimming pool, indoor ball pit/play area, and all have Dream annual passes for park entry tickets, for a total of around £1455. Dream passes give you free car parking at the main DLP car park each day, 20% off your souvenir shopping, and 10% off all your meals (so its actually a better deal using an AP discount compared to "free" half board dining plans).
So, HNY £2076, Dream castle plus APs plus the same meals as the HNY plan but at 10% discount (£220)= £1675.
Remember, at DLP you don't have to be a guest at any specific hotel to visit the gift shops, public areas, character meets, restaurants and bars (this includes the Disneyland hotel, I spend quite a lot of time there each trip even though I've never stayed there).0 -
Probably travelling Liverpool-Paris CDG, around Sun Dec 29 to Fri Jan 3.

yes, i believe the links are valid from the first page - i think thats a good idea, to read the first page, then maybe the last half dozen or so.
New Years Eve at DLP is one of the busiest, if not the busiest, days in the park in the whole year. So you'll want to avoid the park as much as you can that day to be honest, its completely manic and not pleasant at all if you have young children and a buggy. Also, thats 6 days - thats a long time for a first trip, 4 or 5 days might suit better (remember its likely to be very cold, and most of DLP is outside, especially the rides for little ones).0 -

Balletshoes - thank you! Will c&p your post to son so he can see. The name of the hotel will be loved by the 4 yr old! Dream castle! She's going to see lots of Princesses she told me earlier today! Lol
Quite happy to take shuttle bus each day - adds to the fun of the holiday . Sorry if I sounded as though I didn't want that.
Added:
Son has checked Dreamcastle but with half board more expensive and doesn't include park tickets for the five days there. Does look good but we think hotel NY as it is partly a birthday celebration for 4 yr old will be fine. Thank you so much for the suggestion though.0
