We put some temporary measures in place which have worked really well so far, but the Tech team are working on a more long term solution. I can't say when this will be done though, they've got a lot on and to be totally honest, I'm not particularly techy so I don't know what it involves!
We're still getting a few spammers getting through the net but we're trying to keep on top of that. I always keep an eye on these threads when you guys post the links to their profiles, so thanks for that, it's really helpful!
It is not the case that the site is 'still getting a few spammers'
I can't see any improvement since the problem was first reported over four months ago.

Andrea
It is misleading to try to spin the idea that spam is somehow a weekend problem, or a one off weekend problem even.
One of many spammers today, Tuesday (which incidentally makes the marketing claim on MSE's homepage, equating forum posts to books, untrue.)

Utterly ridiculous that Citizens Advice promoted Martin Lewis as its scam awareness spokesperson, just sycophantic, self defeating, mindless and actually irresponsible given they are funded by the tax payer.

Hi!
Thanks for your help flagging these up canterswest.
Spam isn't a one-off or weekend thing by any stretch of the imagination. The amount of time our team spends dealing with it throughout the week - work that you don't see - testifies to that.
Spam is removed once it's reported or the spam button used enough times so the home page figures shouldn't include those.Could you do with a Money Makeover?

There were over 90 posts by three spammers today. The home page count said 250 new posts earlier today and now says 367 new posts. As the spam was not removed for hours, would the homepage figures have included spam posts?
Are spammers counted in the forum members number?0 -

I don't know for sure but I can't see how the statistics generator could distinguish between genuine and non genuine new sign-ups so I think they must be.0 -
