Ahhh Bob! So motivational amongst this lively group. This will be my last check in until Monday. Last night l really thought, "There's absolutely no way l can get an NSD today". The OH and I are meeting at the airport this evening so we'll need to have dinner there. Then l just thought ha! We have loads of snacks in our house and absolutely more than enough food to cook dinner so l'm going to cook food and bring it to the airport. Haha. I've forgotten how the debt journey can be fun when you gave random "ah - ha!"moments. May you all have a beautiful day and hopefully an NSD one!
Well done YOU! :T"There is Life AFTER DEBT."LBM 2009 Total Debt £49046.24 Debt Free as of 27/08/20150 -
Another SFD yesterday. Seem to be doing so much better this month! ☺
After handing in one huge freelance project on Monday, I picked up the next And am already 40% through! A bit of performance work on Friday will see me covered for my social things this week.
Also signed up to a free trial at ancestry, which gives me a week or so to crack on with project family tree. Discovered my great gran's first child was illegitimate! 1911, must have been tough!
Going to be a good week I feel.
I did this last year and it is great, I would really like to go back further. It's amazing how you feel a connection with these people through your imagination.
Well done to people running/starting their own business, you are very inspirational.
A busy day today but not as busy, manic and tearful as yesterday I hope. Today I have to drive a really long way to take DS to his Piano exam, we were supposed to be having the school sports day but that has been put off until Monday due to rain. I will be working (I work from home on my own) and everything is going wrong and I am feeling down in the dumps with it and also very stressed to the point where it is difficult to stay calm. The problem is having no colleagues to turn to for a moan/advice.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Claiming a SFD for yesterday. Well done Miss Debt for your efforts to get one really focused.
Good news finally got paid for my dress on ebay, another 20 pounds off my cards today. woo hoo - had given up hope.
Will have to spend today, going to change my diet, having a few problems so cutting out sugar and wheat. Need a few brekkie things in for my guests this week.
Welsh Kitty sounds interesting, my daughter takes baby photos just as a hobby, she does make money from it but usually ploughs it all back into new equipment. The props she uses are lovely and cost a fortune, fun haggling in antique shops for them. Definitely where the money lies. Good luck with your venture.
Bob - happy to hear you now come highly recommended hope it converts into pennies soon. Excited about the mini challenge.
Aww Dolly feel for you, come here and moan. Advice is free. Know how you feel been really stressed out last 2 weeks, alone in office, which has caused few problems with my health. Not sure why feel calmer today, take a little walk some fresh air and have some fun.
Today I have to drag grandson to swimming lesson which is a total waste of time as last time screamed the place down and refused to go in the pool, as he hates the deep end. Really what is the point? Not looking forward to that one. Stress levels on the rise.
Wishus my brothers did Ancestry thing very interesting. Basically my fathers family was wealthy and my mothers traced back to peasant farmers.
My father was born in 1898 which is weird for some to get their head around, passed away when I was 9. He was a lot older than my mother, who had me when she was 45, 20 yr age gap between me and older brother, so I was a big mistake !!!!
Applemuncher totally agree Mothernerd's activities totally drain me lol

Today has been another NSD so 5/20. Considering I only managed 8 last month, I'm very pleased with this. I don't know if I'll manage to get to the weekend without spending anything as I think we'll need some milk tomorrow or Friday but even if I only manage 4 days I'm happy with that.
The weather for the weekend is not looking great at the moment, a bit showery both days so I think we'll hang off making the final decision about camping until Saturday morning. Even if we don't go camping, it will be nice to have a weekend off together - it doesn't often happen.
I got my payslip through today for 2nd job so on Friday I plan to add £10 to the emergency fund, pay £16.17 to the debt and also sponsor my friend £10 (she's running a half marathon for diabetes uk later on in the year).Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86

Sorry for missing yesterday, my darling step father died yesterday and as you can imagine I'm feeling really sad as I was going to see him next week, so forgive me if I dont post until I get back as things have to be sorted out, but I will keep on being frugal and watching all the pennies coming and going
See you when I return

Good afternoon Turtles,
Last day of my sick leave! At last the back pain decided to leave and good riddance! NSD number 7 for me today. My day was a bit unproductive, more chillaxing as I get ready to go to work tomorrow. Finished the last bit of ironing, put the clothes away with the help of my DS's as it still hurts my back a little bit going up and down the stairs. They are helping me do the cleaning of the house now and soon I'll get started with cooking supper which is chicken chow mien. Did half an hour gardening. Myvegetables are doing fine, still unsure if tomatoes are ever going to set. i have about 3 purple dwarf beans to harvest in the next day or two, which I am very excited about (me and my simple pleasures)
My hubby was a little bit downhearted yesterday about our budgeting efforts. He feels a little bit fed up and restricted. He also said he's stopped listening to Dave Ramsey's audiobooks (he's an avid fan and he quotes DR word for word) for 2 days now coz he's dispirited. I think this is all because he didn't get a good night's sleep the other night (and many nights before). because of our bed which we are desperate to replace. But as July is a tight month and we don't have enough money to cover it, and we refuse to use the emergency fund for it, we have to wait for a month or two before we can get a new bed. He also feels "poorer" now that we are budgeting. "It's too hard!" We knew it's not going to be easy and it does feel harder now that we are giving every penny a name. But what he can't see is that we are actually much better off now that we are paying more attention to the budgeting than we ever were. From owing tens of thousand of pounds and being being overdraft 5 days after pay day (pre-LBM) to cutting our credit cards and not having any overdrafts (LBM) but living with our salary from day 1 to £0 on day 31 (DMP days) to now having a bit of emergency fund and little pots for various things left in the bank account (post DMP). How can that be poorer? Does everybody who's going through the same journey have the same ups and downs like we are feeling right now? I am pretty sure it's normal. I had to do a lot of reassuring before he calmed down, with a promise that next week, we can start "window shopping" for a bed so that we know how much to save up for or if we have enough money next month, how much to allocate for the bed. I think that did the trick. He left for work slightly chipper and I heard him listening to another audiobook about money this morning. Whew!!!
To end this rather long post, let me share a poem which was in my FB this morning and is so apt for my kind of day:
DON'T QUIT
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Hi everyone!
nannygladys I am so sorry to hear your sad news. Sending lots of hugs xx
tog it is completely normal to feel the way you and your hubby are. We have a long list of things that need replacing that we just cannot afford at the moment. It's sometimes so tempting to think about giving up on the debt free journey so that I can replace our old bed, buy the kids new school shoes, treat the family to days out etc. but when I see how far I have come on the journey, it all seems worthwhile. Stick with it and it will all be worth it in the end.
Thanks everyone for the kind wishes about my new business and bob that's great news about your recommendation. I haven't had a confirmed booking yet but it's good to at least have some interest at this early stage. Hoping to get the final bits painted up tomorrow and then I can start advertising properly.
Today has been a SFD despite being tempted to buy cakes or chocolate at work (it was sooo quiet in work that we needed something to get through the day) but I resisted and stuck with my punnet of cherries.0
