Hi everyone!
I've had a quick catch up on what you have all been up to, but have a terrible headache so can't quite remember who said what!
Today has been SFD. My head hurts too much to think what else I need to report...I will be back!0 -
It's for a ticket to the pantomime... we're getting peter pan this year. After saying to the girls I work with that it would be nice to do something other than a p*ss up (excuse the language), I could hardly not take part.
Spend-free day number 4 today... not bad going I think.
Spent yesterday completely gluten free. Mainly thanks to some awesome colleagues keeping me from being bad. Today has also been completely gluten free.
Made some cupcakes which rose beautifully.
Also cleaned half the kitchen. Second half to be done tomorrow.
:embarasse
Hope everyone is doing well. Loving the inspirational quotes apple muncher.

I have done 3 hours work on cleaning my kitchen. Did a whole hour to start with but subsequent efforts were only half hour chunks. Longest worktop is the clearest it has been for a long time. Also cleaned the back door (was raining so opened it so I could stand in the kitchen), as much of the window as I could reach (I used to stand on the worktop/ draining board but not fit or light enough for that yet - don't know when I can afford another kitchen so must make this one last) and cleared the window sill (it was about a foot deep).
20 more items have been decluttered, I have been upstairs 8 times and to the bins 8 times (plus the weeding trips, not counted as I gathered a handful of weeds and then binned it, then several more). Cleaned the hob but not had another go at the oven yet.
Food has been made from things in the fridge (part use up/ part fridge audit) and very nice it was.
I have spent money. I thought I deserved a treat but was trying to persuade myself to wait until the kitchen was completed - got to the stage when my legs and ankles were aching so much I couldn't do more, nearly cried after collecting stray clothing from DS3's room, took it and put it in the washer, carried on with paper and cans waste and came back without putting powder in and setting the machine off.
However I have bought myself the smallest (21g) bar of chocolate in the shop. I bought 5 things for £1 as a 20p treat a day is obviously a huge improvement on recent binges. Will do without if I can, but limited treats is the way to go.
Today I am grateful for flylady (for giving me a list to work to), for being dogged enough to keep going back (machine is on now) and for hot baths (so difficult to climb in, took two attempts). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Just thinking that £15 for all food plus anything else they might do is maybe a little on the thin side...serious well done to DS1 though, budgeting is best learned when you're young! Wishus, I'm not a fan of beer but I bet your house did smell awesome
Today was a spend day - spent £4.90 on two drinks in the pub after work - saw an old work colleague who I don't see nearly enough of. Taking that out of my "fun" budget. Didn't manage to get a workout in today as I think I might still be hanging from the weekend(!), and OH is feeling poorly tonight (not stopped him playing his video game all night though!) so I'm going to put another £10 in my extra savings account and then settle in with a bubble bath and a bit of chocolate. Busy week at work this week, so setting myself up for it! Have a good evening everyone
Thanks academia for the feedback. We will check the itinerary and meal schedule on the trip and maybe re-think about the spending money. DS1 really makes me proud. I agree with you it is never too early for the kids to learn how to budget. Something I never learned before.
I can now officially declare today as NSD no. 6. Supper was Soya chunk stew, using up stocks in cupboard. Will we survive another NSD tomorrow? I want to try to see how far we can go by without spending. Gotta go to bed and have much needed bed rest for my back. SFd 3/20
Spends 63.78/200 including petrol today - will get bunny food as well seeing lost a SFD
CCards 10/150 - slowly slowly will tortoise along. Bad month for bdays
Not been paid for a dress on ebay so opened an unpaid case - annoying why bid?!
£10 is better than no £££s Calling. Keep on kicking towards your target.
How annoying about the dress. Unfortunately some people don't seem to get that ebay is lots of small people making a £ or too. Better luck next sale.
Well done on your run of NSDS The Only Girl. Amazing going!
Mothernerd - very busy day by the sounds of it. Think you deserved the chocolate.
Westie - thanks for the update. All good there then.
Stewby - how lovely to have a big treat to look forward to. Congrats on your NSDS too.
WelshKitty - is your head any better?
Academia - Good on you tucking the £££s away.
Abundant - have you considered a supermarket credit card? Some of them earn you points and some give you cash back for spending a certain amount. Not trying to recommend credit but the benefits are pretty decent.
Nanny - hope you held onto your NSD
Miss Tara - a £200 reduction in debt is brilliant in 1 month..
Dolly - would you consider NT membership? You don't have to pay for parking then. Maybe worth asking a family member for a family pass for next year's xmas present?
Wishus - Glad the weight watchers went well.
Apple - great quote for today thank you.
Very busy Monday at the shop. Didn't stop all day. Today was all about take away sandwiches. I never know what people will go for
Made a salad for tea using more of the bags of lettuce our neighbour very kindly gave us. As we'd use a bag a day in this weather that's £1 a day saved of the food budget (thanks neighbour

SFD today so think that's 4.
Turtle wisdom needed - 3 of my 4 ccards have said they are going to increase my limits next month (anyone know why they are doing it all of a sudden?) so should I accept or not? Are there any advantages to either?

They could be tempting you to spend, especially if it's a card you got for a balance transfer and they want you to spend as you don't have 0% on purchases, or maybe they are willing to lend you more as the debt goes down. I tend to keep my limits as low as needed, as I think the total credit you have available to you (even if you're not using it) can affect future credit card applications. So if you ever wanted to BT to another 0% deal for example, then having low credit limits might help. But who knows what voodoo they use to work it out sometimes!
bob, sounds like you've got lots of options to fall back on with your flat, and having the emergency fund gives me a good feeling of stability too. Lots of early retirees rent over buying as a house is such an illiquid asset if things go wrong.
4SFDs here so far, had a busy weekend but no spends since Friday, and the fridge is full of fresh food for me to work my way through over the next fortnight. Need to make space in the freezer for the ice cream maker - the allotment is full of raspberries, and it's a gadget I haven't used in years!

Have been up watching the news. Footage of 7/7 is still incredibly moving & as I was in London myself that day, working for a publishing firm in Farringdon I remember the panic well. The company I worked for responded well, organising lifts for as many as could be using company cars. No one knew if there friends were ok in other parts of the city. I had one friend who had travelled on the bus line which had the bomb explode, earlier in that day. It reminds you that life is precious. Life is for living and life is ours to make better still.
I hope any of you affected by the attack are feeling ok today and will be alright getting through the day.
