I'm sure farage welcomes your support....

Why don't you try growing a pair, and call me a racist ? that's what usually passes for debate with your mob.

Because prejudice against a religious group is not racism.

Anyway, I shall enjoy Turkey all the more because I shall be safe from the likes of you.

    Tea party politics.

And farage wouldn't welcome your support, you'd be one of those he'd have to sack for accidentally using the n word, or something similarly ridiculous.

So you're going to follow this up with a film trailer for the wizard of oz presumably.......

!!!!!! Lawrence of Arabia was real person.

I'm sorry to have to break it to you, but the Wizard of Oz was not.

You're not very bright are you?

Lawrence was real but didn't operate anywhere near Tunisia. He was in Jordan, modern day Saudi Arabia and Syria, so a thousand miles away from Tunisia or more.

You've used a film poster to state that is proof of the existence of a place which isn't relevant or particularly real.

The extension to your logic would be that any film poster would demonstrate the existence of a place, would Star Wars do?

More importantly you've joined the club in here that condemns a massive swathe of the world, generally by people who have never or rarely been there.

You need to exercise caution wherever you go but to condemn 'arabia' is meaningless and pointless. Don't travel to Muslim countries if you don't want to, but that would exclude Malaysia and Indonesia as well, it's not necessarily an Arab or Arabia issue.

There are some fascinating areas within the Arab world. We went to Syria in late 2010, which was fortunate timing. Travelled independently, and whilst being careful the only real problems were the crazy traffic in the big cities, and the three times we were stopped by police for bribes.

People need to do their own research and make up their own minds based on a wide range of information sources. If you just want a beach and some sun then stick to Spain.

Using that mentality, should we avoid France too?

No, the incident in France wasn't a specific attack on western tourists.

  • Sorry but I'm with the OP.

I loved our time in Tunisia many many years ago just as the tourist industry was beginning to grow and I loved in Egypt 3 years ago but there's no way I would venture there now.

Its all about the probability of something happening and going to that area of the world, that probability is too high for me

    I would agree with this.

I decided, quite some years back, that the Middle East just represented Trouble. I have been wary of going there for years because I'm a woman and am aware of the amount of discrimination against women that goes on there and didn't want to be treated as a "woman", rather than as the person I actually am iyswim.

Its been quite obvious for the last few years though that Trouble would include armed attacks on Europeans.

I am struggling to get my head around the way someone was attacked in France though I have to admit - ie because its one of "our" Western countries. My head hurts thinking about that...as that is a country we expect/are entitled to expect to be safe in.
