hello I hope you get better soon Lala. Take it easy.

I am still ill. Been signed off today for a second week. I am awake for part of the day so I will try to watch some telly.

What's the weather like by you?

It's really wet here and dark already. I am going to rest till Monday and then try to do some work at home.

Well done on haircut. What style are you going for?

Oh no SW! :( It's been raining today and it quite cold at the mo - I'm putting the heating on & staying in tonight :D

My hair is quite long and it doesn't grow very fast - I'm just going to get a trim and ask them to shape around my face... it's so long, it sort of just 'hangs' at the moment!! :rotfl:

    Hi everyone! :hello:

THE TIME IS NOW... It's officially my last week of work here!:rotfl: :T I am very, very excited! :D
I have had to complete an online health & safety induction (which I passed with 100% score, go me:beer:) I need to chase the new HR department about a few bits I was supposed to receive before I begin my new job so that is my focus.
I found out that I get a company laptop which is a bonus!

    Money-wise, I had a really good weekend :j
    - I had my hair cut (which looked amazing before I was completely soaked in the torrential downpour on the walk home!) - Thank you to my auntie for my early Christmas gift!
    - I've asked for some velcro rollers for Christmas so I can re-create the look :)
    - I did a hugeee shop at Wilkinson for £20.00 and even treated myself to a £1 Christmas scented candle (which I've used and it smells lush!)
    - Deposited some spare change into my current account.
    - I brought a shaker for my protein powder with my Nectar points (it was only £5 worth) and that's sturdy and will last me a long time - it also means I cut down on my food bill as the shake could act as a snack.

The negative is that I have spent £85.00 on my credit card - all solely on new clothes for work as I need to look smart (going to meetings etc. with the VP) and my current work attire either had holes or looks terribly worn, so it is a justified purchase and one that won't be done again for a while, but I need to find a way of 'raising' this money again.

Dad was lovely yesterday and gave me £50.00 - He sold his van for £500 (roughly I think and gave my sister and I £50.00 each and kept the rest) - he always does stuff like that bless him. I gave it back but he wasn't really having any of it.
I think I will use the £50.00 on:
    - Kitchen towel - I have run out and can't cope without any until 28th November!
    - Keep the rest aside until the 28th and what is left (providing I don't have to dip into it beforehand), will go towards my credit card.

I may even use it for Christmas presents so this money doesn't have to come out of my account next month.. I'm not sure yet.

I'm on an OK track though! :p

<3 SO EXCITED MY DEAREST! YOUR LAST WEEK! WOOOHOOO.

    Congrats, congrats, congrats!!

Don't have to justify new work clothes, completely appreciate that they're a big necessity - mine are all SO worn and tatty and I always look a right mess so I can't wait to invest in some nice new ones, where did you go?

Bless your Dad, my Nan is the same, she still puts £10 a week aside for me and every couple of years when something crops up (my car insurance excess this time) she pays for it.. It's a godsend but also so difficult as I hate taking money from her!

I have followed in your footsteps and applied for some excellent jobs in this area, I decided since I got a payrise and a new job title it's about time I put myself out there.. Then after sending my applications realised I didn't put my new job title on my CV, cue me laughing & crying at the same time!!!

    xxxxxx

    Ahhhhh thanks Sauce! :D

Don't worry about your CV - we all make mistakes! You've spotted it now and can correct it! ;)

I have to return £52.00 worth of clothes! Which is a plus I suppose... at least I didn't pay for delivery & the returns are free. All size 8 (two tops and one skirt) and they're all too big :( (don't get me wrong, I'm not teeny, the fit was just all off).
Going to wait for my refund on my credit card (hopefully this will be before Saturday) and then go into my local town and actually try things on for a change :rotfl:
Normally online shopping works for me, but oh well!

I brought clothes from ASOS, H&M, Peacocks and Dorothy Perkins. These are my go-to places for workwear as they very often so discounts & sales and the quality is good. Ultimately though, I go by where is on sale, not by what store it is.

Going to order my £15.00 Christmas tree via Tesco to collect on Saturday :D Bit early I know, but I want to make sure they don't all go!

    Hi guys!

    Here is a not-quite mid-week update :D
I'm going to the cinema tonight with a girlfriend to see 'Suffragette' - mind you, only buying a ticket because I realised just how expensive the cinema is now and *hopefully*, if there is a space on my nan's road, I get free parking, otherwise it's extortionate!

Tomorrow after work, I am going to go to my first volunteer session - yay! :D It's more of a taster as it's only the first session. I've always wanted to give something back to do with dementia/mental health awareness. My granddad had Pick's disease, a form of dementia, before he passed away. He had the unfortunate experience of being in three awful care homes before we found him a lovely home, but he was only there a week before he passed away. I feel like I could be some use, and (although no excuse), I feel like I've never had the time to devote.

What has brought this on is the new company have a policy about volunteering - for every day spent volunteering (capped), they match with a day of annual leave :T
    I'm so excited! :)

Happy afternoon to all of you lovely people!

I'm in a very good mood as I found out that my landlady has agreed to extend my tenancy by 6 months (instead of the normal 12) and there will also be no rent increase, yay! :D It means I don't have to move, but I will have the flexibility to move should I find somewhere to buy!
I'm a very happy lady right now! It's probably something to do with the fact that I only have two full days of work left!
My friend and I have decided to have our own little Christmas. I am SO excited! :j
I'm hosting at my flat as he lives with his parents. I'm going to cook our own (and my first!) Christmas dinner!

Sooo... I need your opinions please. Is this expensive?
I have planned the day, d!cor and the meal, which includes a starter (prawn cocktail), main (turkey crown as there will only be two of us, roast parsnips, potatoes, sprouts, pigs in blankets and Yorkshire puddings) and cheese/crackers for dessert. The price also includes a bottle of red.
    The grand total is... £74.97
What do you think? I honestly have no idea if this is expensive as I have never done this before.

    Thanks everyone! :D

Blimey girlfriend where do you shop? Harrods!!!!

It sounds luxurious I think you will have lots of uneaten food and will definitely get some change from it.

It is fab that you are having a nice Christmas to yourselves.

I think my xmas shop is usually £50 and that's going all out for a Christmas meal and I take extra bits for when I visit friends also on Boxing Day, Xmas Eve etc.

Only a few days to go hurrah!
