Well done on starting your pension. It will be worth it in the end. Just think you will be closer to work and you will save loads on travel.

You will get your expenses money back so then you will be happy.

Enjoy Friday things are on the up petal. Hugs, swx

Yes, Friday will be my treat this month! How about you? Do you have any events or treats lined up?
I can't believe that next week, I'll only have two weeks of my notice left to work - It's flown by!

Time is seriously flying by! It feels absolutely mad, this time in 2 months we'll be getting over xmas :O!!!

Great news about saving on the food shop. Completely agree about the pension, I really want to have a pension but my company (despite being a FINANCE company) do not offer anything of the sort!!! So definitely a great investment.

Have you thought any more about going home?

    I know...! & I'm terrified! :rotfl:
Christmas isn't daunting me as much, as thanks to Swagbucks, I have saved a decent Christmas budget:D (& I'm only buying for immediate family & friends' young children).

I can't wait for all my new employee benefits to kick it - they won't work miracles, but it will definitely help me month-to-month.
I feel your pain Sauce, my 'current' company is in investments, yet offers NOTHING! :o

In terms of moving back home, that's a no-go. I overheard my mum & dad talking and mum saying how hard it would be as I'm bringing another animal back (my mum has really bad OCD and they have a really elderly cat who doesn't flare up my mums OCD, as to be honest, she doesn't move/do much as she's so old).
I feel so bad, I'm completely against the idea now. I don't want to burden mum and dad and I completely understand mum's point. Don't get me wrong - they would 'allow' me to live there with my cat - but I don't want to do that to mum (more so) and stress her out to that point (her anxiety and stress levels will go through the roof!)
My dad's also had a heart-to-heart with my about how awful it is having my sister (and sometimes her boyfriend) back home :rotfl:
They are both lovely, but so dirty and messy etc. and don't contribute anything and mum & dad's house (in terms of money). Long story short, I did when I was living their and as soon as I started working, but my sister is the youngest (there are only two of us) and does get 'favourable' treatment. It used to bother me, but now I'm older, I'm grateful as it taught me to be self-sufficient and I don't 'owe' mum and dad anything in terms of monetary value.
There house is also a very small 3 bed semi, so it's very cramped. I just don't want to add to their stress when I'm coping and still able to save £100-200 per month (as it's better than nothing).

    Thoughts? :)

Lala you really are a good inspiration. I bet your mum and dad think the world of you. Happy people attract happy people and life chances.

You are gonna do good kid.

    hugs, swxxxx

ps I am still in bed with flu but am glad I had it in half term rather than work time so it doesn't affect sick record. At least house is tidy and I am well rested.:)

    Morning all :hello:
    How was everyone's weekend?
My notice period at work is flying by! Only this week & next week to go! :T
I was initially worrying that I was making the wrong decision, but some of the response I've received from the 'higher' bosses has definitely reiterated that I am making the right choice.
I understand that this is someone's business, but for them to take my leaving so personally and in such a way that their response is to a) ignore me and b) say to a colleague "at least that is one less person to pay", is just plain wrong and unprofessional IMO.

I think there is a bit of jealousy (not blowing my own trumpet), but the company I work for ATM is still very small and the company I will be working for is a global organisation and it very, very well known and the more down-to-earth colleagues of mine have recognised it is an amazing opportunity and career progression.
It just seems a bit of a shame and a disappointment that people (who are supposedly grown adults!) can be like this.

No matter! I'm very happy! :D
I am very nervous, but I think it is normal (& healthy!) to be nervous about a new venture.

I didn't spend much at all this weekend which is nice!
On Friday night I ended up staying at home as my friend cancelled our night out as she wasn't feeling very well. We re-scheduled, so I have something to look forward to, so I don't mind. On Saturday I went to visit my friend and her little two year old. I took them both for lunch and it was my treat (she is a single mummy) and it was only £18.00 for three of us. On Sunday as I had no trick or treaters, I used the pumpkins I brought and made soup and froze it. That should do me for a while! :p

I'm slowly creeping forwards in regards to my goals! My savings pots are slowly growing (I have updated my signature) and my CC bill for this month has been cleared!

I need to really keep it clear as there is a possibility I will not have any incoming money for 6 weeks during the new job transition.

Current employer will need to pay me from October 28th - November 13th and new employer will need to pay me from November 16th - November 21st (new payday). I need to prepare myself (i.e. dip into my savings & repay this) for the possibility that the amounts will be so small they might roll this over onto my December wage
I normally hate uncertainty (I enjoy routine and predictability although being a PA! :rotfl:) but I am very much so looking forward to this new chapter! :j

How mean are these people? Rotters.

Well done you. Remember you are leaving. Keep staying happy and positive. Well done on having fun and saving too. I hope the time passes quickly.

    Happy Friday everyone! :T

I'm writing this update from the confines of my flat after being sent home from work for the day :( I was up most of the night with my throat feeling like I had swallowed razor blades! I'm a bit clammy too... Gross - I hate being ill! Better now though than at the start of my new job!

Freaking out a little - brought some new work clothes (& yes, they are necessary - I have developed holes in my shoes, bobbles on the majority of my tops and some of my clothes are now too big for me!) My CC statement currently sits at £84.00.
I'm not going to touch this now as I need to make sure I can pay it off at the end of the month. Going to list a few things on Ebay at the weekend to make up for it.
I'm getting my haircut tomorrow (again, pre-new job) as it looks HORRENDOUS. It's now very long & out of control - Very 'teen-angst' :rotfl:
I'm also picking up a shaker I reserved in Argos for a fiver (being paid for with my Nectar points). I've brought a 1kg tub of strawberry protein powder to use a) as an addition to my 'getting fit/weight loss campaign' and b) to fill the gaps between meals when my fresh food is gone.
I plan on popping to Pets @ Home as they sent me a voucher for a free bag of treats as it's kitten's 1st birthday mid-month. I'm going to browse as I want to get him a new cat tree for Christmas as he's out grown his current one. It's a great investment as he actually uses it instead of destroying the furniture (apart from my sofa arm!) and the carpets in the flat.
Seeing as my last day at work is on Friday () I'm making cupcakes for the work lot :) I have most of the ingredients anyway, but going to pop to Sainsbury to get the last few things so I can make these for Monday. I used to be a keen baker but as I don't eat wheat and dairy, I stopped baking unless it was an 'occasion' as otherwise I was just wasting money as such!
Last but by no means least, I'm going to see mum on Sunday :j I'm looking forward to that!

What are everyone else's plans (MS or otherwise :)) for the weekend? xxx

Hope you get better soon :) I'm staying in until Sunday (remembrance parade) and watching films. I can't remember the last time I did nothing on the weekend x
